Has anyone figured out a way to STOP the Aspire Nautilus from sticking?

I love the way the Aspire nautilus performs, but the way the bottom cap is always sticking whenever I need to unscrew it is driving me nuts. Has anyone found a way to stop it from sticking?

And I don't mean ways to get it unstuck. I have complicated methods involving rubber gloves and pliers for that. I'm just really getting sick of having to resort to them. So I'm wanting a way to stop it from getting stuck in the first place. Any hope for this?

Does the steel tank have this problem? Mine are glass, so I would try the steel if people say it doesn't have the same issue.

Otherwise, any suggestions for a different device that performs like the nautilus but doesn't have this maddening problem?

Lube it up...
What do you mean by "sticking"? You should put a drop or two of juice on the bottom silicone seal before screwing the tank back together. I've never had a problem getting my 3 Minis apart although sometimes it takes a little extra effort. Is the chimney bent or something?

I mean that the bottom cap cannot be screwed off of the tank without a great deal of effort, sometimes requiring me to use pliers to get it to twist at all. I'm pretty sure there's nothing bent or physically wrong with it, especially since I'm on my third one and they all have had this problem.

Thank you both for the lubricating tip! I will give that a try. I've actually been doing the opposite by wiping juice off because I thought maybe it was drying in the seal and causing the sticking. So maybe not applying juice to the seal is what I've been doing wrong. Appreciate the suggestion.

O-rings actually work better when they are lubricated, vs. dry...

Thanks. Makes sense. I had thought of trying some kind of oil on it but didn't want to gum up the works with a substance other than e-juice. I guess one reason I wasn't aware of this is that the Nautilus is the first clearomizer type device I've used on a regular basis; I used carto tanks for a long time before that.

I just lube o-rings with whatever e-liquid I happen to be using...

By design it is a tight fit and rather difficult to unscrew. There is quite a bit of silicone that grips the glass to ensure no leakage. I use a towel to unscrew it.

Thanks. Hopefully with the lube trick a towel will be the most I need to unscrew it. Right now, I often have to resort to pliers. And sometimes even then it takes ridiculous effort to make it turn.

Thanks again! Just tried that with it, and hopefully it will fix the problem. (Time will tell. It works right now, but sometimes the sticking doesn't show up until later.)

Go to an Auto parts store and get a small tube of silver anti-seize compound. Rub the smallest bit on all the threads of your tank. I have done this now with all my RDA's and they come apart and off the mod simply. Do not get this in an area where it would be saturated or in contact with e-juice.

If someone has a caveat about this being a toxic solution, please chime in.

Oh god, please DON'T use anti-seize on anything you use to vape with. ALL the MSDS sheets from every manufacturer states harmful if swallowed and that "IF SWALLOWED: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician"

A stuck Nautilus/Nautilus Mini tank on the base is easily corrected by lubricating the bottom gasket with e-juice. Aspire even has a notice about lubricating the bottom gasket (Aspire - Important news concerning the successful usage of the Nautilus Mini and nautilus.)

Exactly what he/she said. Using some sort of industrial anti-seize or lubricant of some kind is not a good idea at all.

I have this same problem. Right now, my nautilus is my go-to, but it drives me totally insane anytime I have to refill it (especially if I'm away from home and don't have pliers. Sometimes I simply can't refill it and have to give up). Being sure not to tighten it too much seems to help, but it certainly isn't a fail-proof solution. I wish I had more or better advice... mostly I'm just writing this to assure you that it is a common issue (and perhaps to get some ideas from this thread myself!)

One nice thing about the Nautilus tanks, is that they are forgiving in the fact that you don't have to screw it down all the way to make a good enough seal to prevent leaking.

The one last trick I have is to lubricate the underside of the bottom gasket, preferably with just some straight, unflavored, no nic VG or PG. Just work off the bottom gasket and lightly coat the metal of the base where the gasket touches, then put the gasket back on and give it spin to evenly coat the gasket. Then also lube the face side like the above video, with just your preferred juice.

After that, just make sure that you DON'T cross thread the coil into the chimney. Once you cross thread the coil into the chimney, you've got a nightmare. Sometimes the chimney threads stay good to accept another good coil, but most of time, you're screwed and need to get a new upper assembly. The coil and base should just spin on nicely into the chimney with NO resistance.
