I recently posted something on the forums asking if anyone had a Bagga or el Kapitan to sell me. Then this number texted me saying he had one so from then on we did business. I asked for a payment request and he sent one. Then I paid. It's been 6 hours and I haven't heard from the guy. He won't text back.

Has anyone gotten scammed like this? What did you do? You think I could get my money back?

Yes, and if payment was through paypal you could probably get your money back.

File a dispute on that particular transaction, give them 3 days to response. If there is no response, escalate it to a claim. Paypal refunded me my money so I hope that you could too. If you have any more question regarding the procedure on the dispute, I'll be glad to help.

I'm so ...... right now. How could I be so stupid {MODERATED}. Now I KNOW it's a scam. How? Because the pictures he sent me to my email of "his" Bagga, I FOUND THEM ON GOOGLE. I'm disputing on PayPal as we speak.

It's only been 6 hours, right? Give it some time. He maybe sleeping. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt.
Who sleeps in the middle of the day for 6 hours? Plus he was rushing me to pay.

Hey man I really might need your help on this on. If you could can you pm me?

If you don't hear back you can always track him in the forums. I would have done that first just to make sure he/she has been around awhile and has a good reputation. I am paranoid though. I have had almost every Craigslist post come up with some scam on me attempted.
The thing is I posted my number on forums, he just texted me. Never actually replied to my actual post so I don't know his forum ID.

:rules: And this would be an example of why you don't buy unless it's through the classifieds or a coop on the board. Good luck...
yeah but getting into classifieds is like a long process. Ill do it though.

Hope you get the mod, or the money - but yeah, high risk transaction.
MUCH safer to find someone selling, than to promote that you're buying, with texting contact only!
Good luck!

Thanks ;(

Not trying to say things here but..... Why would u post your number in an open forum?

Plz be careful people.

I actually posted an app number. The same one I use for Craigslist and such.

Completely agree with Glen here --- Rose

Really kinda unfair to post a persons e-mail here under the circumstances. You're not even sure you've been wronged yet. Same thing when peeps badmouth a vendor before everything has been done to rectify the situation. Once you squeeze the toothpaste out of the tube it's hard as he%% to get it back in. Jus sayin'

You have his email address since you paid via Paypal, correct? Google that email address and see if anyone else has been scammed. It's going to depend on how you paid him too. I hope you used "good or services" and not "money to family and friends". It's going to be tough re-cooping if you used "money to family and friends". And I'm not exactly sure what Paypal will do when they find it has something to do with e-cigs. I'd open up a claim right away and if you find others have been scammed by the same email address, take screen shots and include those in your claim, along with the pictures he sent you and the picture you got from Google. Wait 3 days, and then escalate.

Scam 101: If he/she/it requested you send the money as a gift you have no recourse through PayPal. Did you send the money as a gift?

I'm not going to beat up on you any more. But if you had been patient enough to go through the verification process to access the classifieds you would have found that out in the info sticky, along with everything else you do to minimize your risk.

Lesson learned. Do us all a favor and report the ECF Member & what happened to a moderator if this thing has completely fallen through so no one else gets burned. Save any PM's they sent you.

Oh no I was going to give him a chance. Texted him a million times even warned him that if he doesn't get back to me ill file a claim. 3 hours later. Nothing. Nothing at all.

Then I googled Bagga V2 and found the 2 pics he sent me! I didn't even have to dig deep they were the second and fifth pic on page 1.

Put yourself on my shoes T.T it all doesn't add up.

Well on the email on the description it says "Goods" so I think I'm good there.

No where on the emails do I see Gift. Only "Goods". So I may have a chance I guess...

And yeah man I'm def going to get verified for the classifieds. Thanks for looking out though. Lesson definitely learned.

If you mention "ecig" buying you risk having your account closed or at least suspended. If you mention the other guy was "ecig" selling his account gets closed. If it was really a scam it won't matter to him if a PP account gets closed - scammers don't leave money hanging around in PP accounts waiting on transactions to get reversed.

Double check that info in the transaction detail on your PP account itself.

The transaction details are just showing the amount, time, date, and both of our information. It doesn't even show "goods" it only shows that in the email confirmation.

Okay so when I file a dispute I do not mention E cigs? What do I mention then? Electronics? Battery cartridge?
