I made a decision out of the blue today, to try e-cigs. I have been a smoker for over 30 years (I'm 47 started at 12). I have quit smoking numerous times, for as long as 3 months once, but I always pick them back up. Long story short, I googled and found a joye 510 starter kit for $39 and free shipping that comes w/
*Atomizer(2-hole) 2pc
*180mAh Lithium rechargeable battery 2pc
*100-240V AC charger 1pc
*Manual(English) 1pc
*Standard cartridges 5pc
*Color:Matte black
* manual kit with push botton to start atomizer PLUS a 15 mL bottle of our famous "made in the USA" eliquid in your choice of Flavor and Nicotine Level.
after I bought, I found this forum and I have been reading almost ALL day! I am OVERWHELMED with too much knowledge now, and wondering if I got the wrong thing, maybe should have gotten something bigger that would allow a LR cart, I smoke a pack and a half a day of full flavor cigs. I live way out in the boondocks in Arkansas, and no one I know has ever used a PV, and definitely no local vendors. Our smoke shop has the cheep-o no name ones, but never trusted them to be any good, and they are over $20. Sorry my post is so long, but I really want to give this "life-style" a chance, but know I am uncertain I made the right choice.
Pleez help

At a pack and a half a day, you're probably going to need more batteries for rotation ... and a charging case might be a good idea too.

You may have paid just a bit more than you needed to ... but not too much, so I wouldn't sweat that if I were you. You'll quickly need more than that 15mL of liquid though ... so get another order in somewhere so that you don't run out.

I'd recommend Cignot ® ... you can get compatible supplies for the 510 kit that you've got on the way and they're great people. In addition to the cartridges and atomizers that you've already bought, you might want to also try out some 510 cartomizers -- they serve the same purpose at the cart/atty combo, and some people like them better (I know that I did.)

Have fun and happy vaping!!

Thats about the same kit that I started with.

I wouldn't stress that much. It's the way to stardom in the valley of ecig.
First get used to vaping.. Test out for a week or two.
And while doing so keep looking for "your thing" if you still think that ecig is for you.

I know it's for me. 2months without a single analog ;)

E: At the beginning I vaped & smoked.. Dropped from 20cigs/day to 5cigs/day with only 1cartridge/day.
Did that for about two weeks. And when I felt comfortable with the idea of digital nicotine I went berserk and bought something bigger and better.

Welcome to ECF and congratulations for breaking free of the cancer sticks!

$39 for what you got was an OK price - not excessive (compared to some of the things you see in malls) but not the greatest value either. The Joye 510 is an excellent starter PV and the 510 thread means there's a huge variety of hardware on the market - but I would suggest you switch to using cartomizers (combined atomizer & juice reservoir) as soon as possible as they are easier to use.

Then there's a whole world of juice flavors opening up. Time to start shopping around 'teh interwebs' and stalking your mailman!

American e-liquid Store (americaneliquidstore.com) is a little higher priced than other vendors on the PV(e-cigs) and PV parts, but they do have a good price on their juice, it's too bad they only offer 100% VG or PG- buy a bottle of each and make your own mix. I have placed several orders from them, my first PV, an eGo-T and a lot of juices in those orders. I really like their apple/cinnamon, chocolate/mint, english toffee and their shipping is very quick for me being in WI also

American e liq. that's the place I go for my djarum black clove flavoring. Parts are expensive there. there are better places to get dropper bottles cheaper. I usually just get flavoring and some vg and i get the free shipping. Been doing that since January. Still vaping the same stuff. Only changes are in devices. Nic I buy from MFS, bottles too.

could you tell me what/who is MFS? I saw comments on Amazon about diy juice when I was looking at VG for skin care, lol, it is what got me considering trying the whole vape thang. The commenter said Amazon's price for VG was verry good. P.S. I like your avatar, my son is 22, and an anime fanatic

Thanks to everyone who answered I so much appreciate your input and help, this site rocks, but it has kept me captivated ALL freakin' day, and my eyes are getting all blurry from so much reading on my tv/ monitor

You did great I think I got ripped off from my local smoke shop he sold me a 510 starter for 90 bucks I did not shop around. My mistake but as with anything new I think my most thing about vaping is that I did not know anything at first. 4 Months later im vaping a silver bullet with a tank and still experimenting with juices tanks cartos ect. So many things to choose from so many vendors online. I know now buying from online is the way to go with buying e cig stuff. If I had known what I know now I probably would not have bought from the local smoke shop guy and just waited the couple days for it to come in the mail. Anyways I think you get my drift.

Happy vaping! :)

That's the same deal my wife got, and she smoked about a pack and a half a day, too. She found it didn't produce enough vapour to satisfy her cravings completely, but was able to cut back to 4 or 5 smokes a day. Now she has an Ego and loves it. You'll be able to tell pretty quick if it's working for you or not. Good luck and happy vaping!

That price is fine for a 2 battery 2 atomizer Joye 510 manual kit. I also recommend you try Boge 3 ohm cartomizers with that or any other 510 threaded 2.5 to 3 ohm cartomizers (except SLB which suck IMO and buying noname cartos may get you ones that suck too). Most people prefer cartomizers for their favorite juices. I use thin clear juices with slim ecig cartos (PG w/ 20% or less VG and I avoid cloudy juices that drop a lot of flavoring sediment). I can get 10+ days use out of a Boge (moderate vaper).

And get a 510 drip tip. Litecigusa.net has a good selection and I know the plain clear colored ones and plain rounded black delrin ones fit in my atomizers and as a mouthpiece in my Boge cartos. The wirl plastic ones there are a bit too tight and the fancy acrylic pawn and ming one elsewhere seem to never fit anything I own (o-ring too thick).

Not the cheapest deal or the most power, but not a rip-off either. Good for you not falling for the super mini rebranded POS. The 510 is a decent small pv and not a bad place to start. If you need more battery life, or the ability to use low resistance atomizers, you can pick up a couple of eGo batteries. Use it, see what you think, and that will tell you where you might need to go. Even if you move on to something else, the 510 will make a nice back-up for you. Good luck and welcome! :)

I guess it depends on how knowledgeable and helpful the local guy was if that was a good price or not. Every time I'm in the local store here for any length of time, at least one very frustrated person comes in with something they got off the internet that came with minimal instructions, they couldn't work it, the juice was the wrong strength for them and tasted like crap. But hey, they saved twenty bucks. "I think you get my drift"

Hey everyone thanks for the input, because of all the great advice, I have ordered a ego pass-through batt, and 15 boge cartos. (am I learning the lingo or what, lol),2 drip tips, and a cone, and my pv wont even get here til tomorrow! I have read enough to be able to operate the thing I hope. I know I am very excited almost like Christmas eve for me. I am dying to try some of the flavored juices, I did pick up americaneliquids 60ml special on choco tobacco to come with my original order because it was only $15, I just hope I like it since I think that is probably a largish amount! Mail runs about 10:30 am and I will post to let anyone who cares to know, how I am doing, and what I think about vape-age :)

AmericanELiquid has some of my favorite juices, and I've purchased all my PVs from them (including an Ego-T in September). If you have any problems, they WILL take care of you. They aren't the cheapest, but they charge enough to take care of the customer. To me, that's important!

I'm not crazy about their pure tobacco flavors, but I've been vaping their Blackberry Champagne (18mg) all day & it's time for a refill! Would love to know how you like their Choco stuff! ;)

MikenGa, I will post back as soon as I try the juice, they include 15ml of tobacco flavored with the kit, but the choco is what got my lips smakin' Chocolate with out calories? ooooh baby! :) . it is good to know about the customer service , that is very important to me too. I live so far from everything that I don't want to be stuck with no help, and days waiting for responses or replacement. I definitely will pay more upfront to avoid disappointment

I started my mom on the joye 510 a year ago this coming month. she went from about 16 cigs a day to 1-5 depending on stress. I was hopin she'd quit all the way and I think she might've had I gotten her a bigger stronger setup like the RIva or ego from the start. as it were they we're close to 80 from what I remember then and I knew she woul be put off by the size at first - she needed a cig look a like to start with.

I also used her extra 510 until she needed it back. the price you got wasn't too bad and I don't think you'll be disappointed but you may not drop cigs completely with it. some people have though ! I just know my mom didn't.

abou 2 weeks ago I go a RIva based in suggestions from te wonderful people here :) I ordered from liberty flights. if you clik their 20% discount logo you can get the kit for 29.99. includes 2 batts 2 atomizers USB and wall charger 10 empty cartridges. can throw in a drip tip for $2. I also got their green appl liquid which I really love, taste like jolly rancher. you will quickly find you can't reproduce the taste of a real cig (and you will not want to after a while !) so don't be shocks when tobacco flavors taste nothin like your sticks ! :p

so as someone relatively new to owning m own full Time pv and having used the 510 I would say go for the rica kit too if you can afford it ! it's really a world of difference. I'm a pretty light user and the battery can last me 2-3 days. then I have another ready to go. the RIva is an ego knock off so they're the same just cheaper :)

also the RIva is 510 threaded which means all the things you bought already will work on it - drip tips, carts, cartos, atomizers, the ego cone - and the pieces from the RIva kit will wil with the ego pass through - so in reality you'd just have to extra skinny. batteries that you could use to draw less attention in public If you bought another kit now :)

good luck !!! I highly recommend the RIva and you will quickly find there are sooo many juices out there to try. and hey, I'm in Arkansas too!
