After looking at the 3ml juice filling of the aqua, I decided to give it a try, and noticed how bad the coils were on my aqua. Time to recoil with the new 26 gague kanthal (old build had 32 gague). I was going to try wrapping both coils using one wire, did six wraps one direction, some slack, then six wraps the other direction on the same screwdriver If done right, it should put out two 1.2 ohm coils. captured the "shared" and put both coils in.. tested .7 ohms, but I decided to put it on anyways thinking the build might be a bit off... fired to compress the coils, and noticed one didn't heat up as fast.... lo and behold, I wired one with 7 wraps. No biggie, loosened the nut, pulled out the offending wire,, unwrapped one wrap, and started position the wire back in the capture screw heads... Aqua is a slight bother to work with because of the space, so I needed to prop it up on my leg while I held it.. then it happened... I forgot to lock the mech mod..... The coils fired, I smelled burning flesh, and dropped the mod. that's right, I had my finger on a coil when it fired. I now see six little lines on my index finger and owie.. it hurts. :)

Am I the only one who's done something like this? is this Darwin's award in the making?

To clarify what I said above, the way you wrapped it, those two 1.2 ohm coils will show a resistance of 2.4 total ohms. If you did them as normal parallel coils, the resistance would be 0.6 ohms. Not sure which you were going for but I hope this helps.

Not necessarily. If both ends of the coil touch the positive, and the middle of both coils shares a common negative (or vice-versa), it's still a parallel resistance.

yeah i have fired my device well touching a live coil. its not fun. but i have burned my self worse cooking food. SLOW DOWN take it easy and always remember, safety first.

Want to hear something ironic? I burned the crap out of my finger replacing an ICE MAKER in my freezer. Apparently there is a heating element on the bottom that gets hot just before the ice is dumped to make it easier to come out and I grabbed it at the wrong time.

If you wrap two coils connected like that, you really only have one coil it's just stretched out longer. The total resistance will be the sum of both coils. Normally when building two coils they are setup in parallel so the resistance is actually 1/2 of the resistance of ONE of the coils.

Not with these, they're paralell, not in tandem. two posts, one coil on left side over airhole, one coil on right side over airhole. It makes a big circle with the leads on the top and bottom of the circle... they each have their own electrical individual pathways. Resistance is half... and yes, it's verified on an ohm meter.

A better way to clarify, two coils in Tandem, or two coils in parallel. These coils are parallel.

Lol, I know. But if you've ever tried to put two coils on an Aqua, you can understand there's a frustration level. Usually, I am the most patient person in the world, but once I hit the 30 minute mark trying ONLY to attach two coils, my patience starts to waver. :)

Sorry to like your post OP, but I'm also laughing.

Hasn't happened to me............ Yet.

Lol... I know. Luckily there wasn't much to get mad at for that mistake besides myself. :) All I can think of is "Doh, I am a dolt".

I try hard to look for the good side of it... always learn from mistakes. Good side is: If I take this to my local vape shop and someone asks how I have it coiled, I can just point to them... see.... six wraps on each coil.

Haven't burned myself...yet... but I did give myself a shock a week ago when I got impatient pinching coils after heating and grabbed the coil with my tweezers while still firing. Bzzzz...lol.

I almost did that myself too... and I've been thinking about that... maybe some ceramic tipped tweezers might be a good option in the vape bag.
