We should all get the "Q" word, and all the the unnecessary baggage that goes with it, out of our vocabulary.

The traditional cessation methods depended on one thing to be successful: Will power and cold turkey (they are really ONE thing). Accordingly, all those negative terms like "falling off the wagon" and "relapse" were real dangers with those old fashion methods.

Not so in vaping... those negative terms don't apply at all. Just take a look the many members, many of whom did NOT take up vaping to "quit," (myself included) who are happy vapers and STOPPED smoking gradually without cravings or feeling deprived.

I remember one ecf veteran (I think it was Kent, if not, sorry Kent) who said that if someone were to bet him $20 to smoke a cigarette, he'd take their money.

Ok, I'm still a relative newbie who smoked 1+ packs for 45 years. But I absolutely know that if I smoked a pack of cigarettes today (and they DO taste better to me now than when I smoked), I can get right back to vaping as if I never left. The point is that vaping is much stronger than smoking, and I'd bet many, or even most of you feel like I do that it would be harder to quit vaping.

So take the guilt and needless pressures off yourselves and enjoy the ride. Sorry for getting on my soap box...old people tend to do that ya know!

Very eye opening thread. At first I was in the "NO DON'T SMOKE" camp....then as I read the posts I realized that maybe you ought to try one, I felt pretty confident what would happen.....and it did.

You know, even when you let go of a bad long term relationship, there will be moments when you miss them. Guess this was just one of those moments.

I started vaping four weeks ago and haven't smoked for 25 days now. I didn't smoke because I didn't want to and didn't feel any pressure because at that time I wasn't even trying to quit. But a couple of days ago I started getting cravings. Had that happened two week ago, I'd have simply smoked a cigarette and forget about it. But now (1) I'm so proud of my signature and (2) afraid that I might go back to smoking.

To deal with (1) I can change "been smoke free" to "been vaping" :) What about (2)? I know what you'll say but I still worry somehow. Yeah it's funny how you just can't forget those damned cigarettes.

mmm loving the way fool (feels weird referring to you as that!) put it- it is simply missing something i used to do, like wearing flares and dying my hair pretty colours (miss that too!)
vaping is a direct replacement for smoking for me- the idea being that i gave up smoking- like switching to sugar free drinks. I AM proud that i hadnt smoked for so long, and i am going to ignore the fact that i had one and stop beating myself up about it :)

Hey vape girl I know it can be hard I craved and craved I keep 2 packs in car and 1/2 carton at the house when I go for them I remember my health and the smell and all the things I hate about cig's you might buy a pack and keep it with you some people do both there's nothing wrong with that. Just don't beat yourself up about it buy a pack and keep it with you I bet you vape more then smoke. :)
