Getting some dry hits on my agat if I take two semi large drags in a row. Is this normal? Anything I can try you gennie vets? =P

Not sure if ss mesh is made to chain vape. I usually tilt it so that the juice is always touching the mesh.

I always tilt at 45 degrees. It seems like anything else yields me dry hits. Maybe I'll make another wick.

I use a 75mm width straw style wick in my agat if that matters. #500.

Are you making sure the wick isn't being choked at the top by the cap? Also, I notice that the 500 mesh doesn't seem to wick as well as the 400. That's been my experience.

Yeah, the wick is relatively short at the top. If that is what you mean. And the wick is small enough to slide easily in the wick hole.

And hmmm. Great. I just got a #500 sheet since everyone said it was better than #400. Oh well!

Yeah, I got 2 3x3 in 500 sheet because I heard the same thing, but also got a big 400 one, too. I still prefer the 400. I feel that it wicks better with the AiV juices I've tried them with. The 500 seems to work well with very thick juice, though. Not sure if that makes sense since the 500 has smaller holes.

I heard the exact same thing about the 500.. But I tried making a dense solid core wick out of this 500, and so far it seems like it is out performing the straw. Width is 3.5" ~90mm.

Yeah. NR wire required. You might want to look into a Spheroid, Ghost. No NR wire, and portable like an Oddy/Penny. Technically, you could even set it up with mesh.

Giving this a second thought after watching Scott's review. I'm in. The only question I have is how do you go about switching flavors..? Do you have to replace the filler every time you switch?

Anyone else interested in a spheroid? A new batch is coming out from vapourart soon, and I would like to buy with a buddy to save on shipping. It is 85,00 € ($113), but shipping is freaking 19.41 € ($26). Though it is free shipping if the order is larger than 120.00€. I'll gladly pay the shipping to send the other whoevers way if they want to go halvsies on the order.

Ghost is getting aggravated with his gennie again  This doesn't wick for :censored: . Gah.. Maybe it is the 500..? I take one hit and it tastes fine.. Then the next hit is freaking gross and dry. To see what is happening, I take my normal drag, and take off the cap and wait a second or two and fire the device. The whole top coil glows red. I don't think it is a short because I don't see a spark or a hot point. The wick is just too dry, isn't it?

I don't get it. People talking about how they use their gennies at 15-20 watts. I can't fire it for more than 5 seconds at 12 watts without the top coil starting to get red.

Video for reference.. Notice the amount of time in between firing.

I might have to buy a sheet of 400 then. Giant and I built mine in under an hour.. I've been playing around with this for about 3 tonight getting it to work. I think I finally got it though. I think I need to invest in some ceramic wicks lol. Especially with this news about the health issues with mesh.

What is this health issue with mesh news?

Glowing coils like that just mean it's not wicking fast enough, ghost. Try playing around with some different wick setups. My general experience has been that solid wicks have better capillary wicking, while hollow wicks wick better with a sharp tilt. Similar results with different types of mesh. The higher the thread count of the mesh, the better the capillary action, however, the lower the thread count of the mesh, the better the wicking when tilted.

You will need to experiment with different variations depending on the wattage at which you vape.

Before you go tearing your setup apart, just try tilting it more.

So that video was actually a short I suppose. I guess it developed once I started vaping since all coils were glowing evenly before I filled her up. Anyways, still having a similar issue, though instead of just the top coil glowing red, all of them do.

What's the ohm of the coil you built? Maybe 12 watts is too high for your coil?

Gotcha, well seeing as this solid wick at #500 doesn't seem to be doing great, I ordered some more #400. That one I built with you was awesome, and that was #400. Everyone raved about #500 so I ripped out the wick and threw it out to try the #500 with no luck. It seems to have been getting a BIT better.. But still a pretty bad tasting second draw. Time to play some more with it.
