Hello to everyone. I have recently decided to give vaping a try and I have literally spent hours perusing the forums, reading the guides, looking at different companies, etc. and I am still a bit confused lol
First the basics of what I'm looking for:
1.) Ease of use. I want something that (at least to begin with) will be easy to use.
2.) I definitely want something that's going to give me a good throat hit as that's kind of what smoking does for us right? lol
3.) Something that's going to last longer than a few puffs before I have to put it back on a charger.
4.) Price is a slight factor as well. It doesn't really serve quite as much good if i'm spending MORE in this than what i costs me to smoke regularly.

Ok with that said I smoke about a pack a day, my brand and flavor of choice is Marlboro Full Flavor Shorts. I see all these posts about juice and dipping and dripping and cartridges, and atomizers, and batteries, and it gets a little overwhelming lol. I definitely want something that is going to last me for a while and still allow me to delve deeper into the whole DiY aspect of this once I get a little more comfortable with how to do things.

So I guess I'm asking for some overall insight into where I might want to start and a good company to do business with. I know this is a bit lengthy but I wanted to be as thorough as I possibly could with what I'm looking for and wanting at least as a starting point. Also what are good order amounts for things like the cartridges? I mean how long do they realistically last? I don't want to order too few but at the same time I dont' want to order enough to last me the next 6 months. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me out :)

P.S. Any mods on the boards I apologize as I posted this in the Ask the Experts Section and I think it may have belonged here instead.

Based on your criteria, I'd go with a KR808D-1 cartomizer set up. Easy to use, good throat hit, pretty cheap. 3-piece models have a pretty steep learning curve that may put you off at the beginning. Take your pick from a vast number of reliable vendors... I've gone primarily with healthcabin.net, heaven-gifts.com and eastmall.net and had zero problems.

I'd go with a manual starter kit, a couple 5-packs of blank cartomizers, a couple bottles of juice... should do the job for a month at least... then if you decide you like vaping, you can move on to mods :)

I agree that for ease of use the kr808d-1 is the best way to go. As MHR7331 said all of those suppliers are good and I also have not had any problems. If you want it faster, since China does take longer to ship, there are several other vendors in the states that have priority shipping and you will get it in a couple of days. Vapor4Life, Nhaler, Litecigusa, Vapor King are just a few.

The one problem you might have is that no liquid really tastes like what you smoke. Actually they taste a lot better!!! I happen to like the coffee and fruity flavors, some people only like the tobacco flavors. It is so much a matter of personal taste. The kr808d-1 takes cartomizers...the atomizer and cartridge are combined into 1 piece and the battery is the other. You can refill these cartomizers over and over again till they finally quit on you. So when you buy whatever kit you decide on, get some extra cartomizers and some liquid to refill them. This is the cheapest way and will save you money. :)

V4L is vapor4life.com. Check out the vapor 4 life forum here on ecf and I guarantee you will see it is the best. No muss no fuss. Very reasonable price. Excellent customer service. It will be the best investment you ever made. I just got mine Dec 23rd and I could not be happier. At least check out there site and read the posts under vapor 4 life forum.

KR808D-1 kit like everyone said already...... that's the ideal kit for you i think.

There are plenty of places to get kits from, just depends if you want a little starter kit or a full blown kit with all the accessories to try out, yet alone colors etc. I can recommend you a vendor if you go into a bit more detail of what you want... typical decent kits go from around 40 bux and up to 90 with all the gadgets like charger cases and usb passthru's etc.

I'm wanting somethign in a starter kit that gives me the basics of what I need while not going crazy with ever possible attachment made. I'd like to charge at home as well as in the car. one of the things i'm getting confused on is the cartomizer.
How long does one typicall last? How many should I order? Is it easy to flavor the blank ones?

Id recommend getting a starter kit with 2 batterys, comes with a USB charger and wall charger, you can buy car chargers seperately at lots of places if you decide you want one too.

vaporkings.com is out of starter kits they were the cheapest but Nhaler has them for a few bux more, plus they have 6 different colors for you to pick from : KR808D-1 - Starter Kit - NHaler

i can vouch for them that they are a good vendor and the kits are the proper Kanger made ones, not any kind of clones.

edit: Mist Stix have the white and black kits for a couple bux cheaper too if that's the color you want : http://www.mist-stix.com/ they're not a bad vendor either.

Blanks aren't hard to fill once you get used to them, it is cheaper in the long run to fill yourself but you can just buy cartomizers and throw them out if you want, just depends on your budgets etc, me personally i just throw them out and use another one for the convenience factor.

A regular prefilled cartomizer lasts me about the equivlent of 3/4 of a pack of regular cigs. I would recommend starting off with 16/18MG and some 24MG carts and go from there to find your sweet spot for strength.

So many kits to chose from. I started out with the vapor king ultimate ultimatum shorty kit with the personal charger case. I bought a seperate car charger from them ($8-9). Kits come with five carts. I also ordered 2 packs of different flavored carts. I used the code SMILIN for a 10% discount (not sure if it still works). This will give you everything you will ever need and at a super reasonable price. The vapor king and cartos are so easy to use and the customer service and shipping are excellent!
A cartomizer is about a pack of cigs give or take a half pack depending on how much you vape ( and you will vape alot once you get it trying things out). Try some samplers to start 1 or 2 boxes. You will be surprised at the flavors you may like. I hated menthol cigs but love the way the carts taste. my favs so far are raspberry, vanilla, red cow, all menthols. they will probably send you some free juice to try as a thanks for the order and yes it is very easy to refill. You can refill your used carts several times even though they are ment to be disposable. I got 11 and 18 mg to start. Check out under vapor 4 life forum : refilling cartos the movie. Hope this helps!

Another vote for the KR808D-1 - I have a Vapor King from Vapor4Life, and have been very satisfied with its ease-of-use and battery life (I particularly like the XL batteries with the 13-second cutoff). In a typical day, I go through between 2 and 3 cartomizers, and the XL battery lasts me 8-9 hours (normal use, not chain-vaping). I use both pre-filled cartomizers and blanks to fill with any other juice of my choosing, and refill the cartos to make them economical. Changing flavors is as simple as screwing on a different cartomizer.

In contrast, I recently bought a Bartleby (which is a custom battery mod) and had it fitted for a 901 atomizer. My experience with the 901 stuff is limited, but so far I could not imagine using it as an "on the go" device. The cartridges are tiny and need to be topped off very frequently, and I get an unpleasant foam taste when I first fill up and when the cartridge is running dry. And changing flavors may require rinsing out the atomizer, or switching to a different atomizer. It does vape nicely, though, so my 901 setup will be relegated to direct-dripping with an empty mouthpiece when I'm testing out new juice mixes, etc. I got an adapter so I can use cartomizers on the Bartleby instead.

If you want a kit with lots of extras then the higher end V4L kits are good, and when you place a hefty order they will give you some nice freebies too, but i generally avoid their low price starter kits because they still use the short cutoff batterys which aren't that great. They are another good vendor too, you can trust them 100%

Ok quick question. I like the price point of the mist-stix starter kit but it says somethign about their carts not compatible? Can I order carts from other places for this model? Does anyone have any reccomendations on this?

You can order carts from anywhere as long as they're for the KR808D-1, V4L has over 50 flavors or something they are a good place to get the exotic stuff, It's only the people with old stock where the carts have a solid ring inside instead of a grooved one that you need to worry about but i haven't seen any of those in ages.

Vaporkings.com are also good for carts, they do cheap first class shipping too.

I know the adapter that I have for the joye 510 kit accepts all cartomizers from any cartomizer maker/vendor.

You get what you pay for! Have you seen any good reviews for the misty stix? Check and see what problems people have had. That is a big part of how I chose my brand. Customer service is huge with ecig products. I have seen alot of posts about unhappy people with problems with alot of other brands. I also have a couple friends that had bad experiences with other brands and customer service was bad to say the least. Dont look just at the good things people say but the problems too. Good luck

Mist Stix don't make the kit, it's a KR808D-1 by Kanger, you can tell just by looking at the box. It's the same KR808D-1 kit as you'd get at Nhaler etc. You're just getting confused because stores give them their own names. Just the same as the Vapor King is a KR808D-1 with the old style center post and 2 extra holes drilled into the threads.

Yeah it is very confusing. I guess just look at the company you decide to order from and make sure others are getting good service all around. Look at blu cigs issues with there ecig and customer service say compared to V4L :-o

Yeah well..... that's like tryna compare a dog turd to a sunset lol, can't fault the V4L customer service, Blu are just trash all round.

NO I was saying V4L is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO TEAM V4L!!!!!!!!!!

That was my indication that they are better than Blu lol...

Infact Cali, for around the same price as that Mist Stix kit, you could buy 2 x single logo auto batterys (the best ones they do) and a wall charger from Vapor4Life, you wouldn't get the free carts that come with the Mist Stix kit, but the free ones are usually horrible flavors anyway, then you could try some of their carts too ? Just another idea... it's a shame vaporkings are out of starter kits they're usually 39 bux but theres no telling when more will show up.
