Have a starter kit and noticed some short comings... what to upgrade first?

I completely switched from analogs to vaping 5 days ago. My first kit included...

2 eGo-C batteries 650 mAh
2 eGo Vision Stardust 2.1ohm think this is also called a CE4?
1 usb charger
1 wall charger
1 Large Black eGo Case

This evening was the first time I had to recharge one of the batteries, so pretty impressed with that. I have noticed a couple of things though.

- I thought there would be more vapour
- the tank has two wicks and the tops are starting to have a burnt look to them and some times a burnt taste
- The Stardust tank is quite a challenge to take apart

So, I'm thinking of my first upgrade..... a new tank.... but don't really know where to start. This one seems to be one that would just be replaced rather than being fixed.

What features should I be looking for in a new tank?

I'm pretty new to this vaping stuff, too, so other people who know more about it will probably chime in and help you more. However, I started with a similar setup to what you're talking about and also wanted to upgrade pretty quickly. The tanks I switched to within a few days of vaping were Kanger T3s tanks. They are simple to fill up and just go, cheap enough that you can buy a few and use them to switch juice flavors fast, and they can run different resistance coils. (I found that switching out the coils that come with them, which are 2.2, and replacing them with 1.8 coils, gave me warmer vapor which was more satisfying when transitioning from analog cigarettes.) Another thing that really has helped me enjoy vaping more than smoking was a battery with variable voltage. There are several kinds out there that don't cost much more than a regular EGo battery that allow you to adjust voltage level by spinning the bottom of the battery. Just switching to a VV battery and lower resistance coils made a HUGE difference in how satisfying my vaping was as far as how the vapor felt and how it could satisfy a cigarette craving by supplying that warm feeling in the throat and enough vapor.

Good luck!

Congratulations! :)

You may want to upgrade to variable voltage batteries--at some point in the future (eGo-C Twist, MVP2 etc.). What's the voltage of your batteries? Do you know? If they are just plain eGos, it's 3.3v, so you need lower resistance atties. If they are eGo-C upgrade, you have two different voltages to work with--3.3 and 3.7v. That's good for now.

Don't care for those. if you want a quick upgrade right away, try a single-coil Kanger BCC topper, like T3S, eVod, mini Protank 2.

Hang on to those. :)

You won't get much vapor from a 3.3v battery and a 2.1Ω Stardust-style topper.

Wattage = voltage squared divided by resistance.

Not enough juice getting to the coil and causes dry hits. With top-coil (old technology) clearos, wicking is a big problem. Try tilting your battery a bit, once in a while, to make sure that the coil is always saturated with juice.

Yup.

See above--any single coil Kanger clearo will do. BCC stands for bottom changeable coils. Once your coil gets gunky, grab a new one. The dirty ones can be cleaned and dry burned several times.

What features should I be looking for in a new tank?

Replaceable coils, low resistance (for your battery, 1.8-2.0Ω).

Ditto everything that BlueCanary said. Although I've gotta admit, I've been enjoying the Aspire tanks, rather than Kangers, with my "next-step-up" batteries. I picked up a couple of Aspire ET-S BVC atomizers for $5.95 at Rock Bottom Vapes. What's nice is that I can carry a spare tank full of juice with no leaking, the vape is nice (at least to me), and it fits nicely on eGo's, the Vision Spinner, the iTazte VV V3, or the iStick. (These were my various "step-ups", so far, in order.)

I started with ce4's as well. Wasn't really impressed I stepped up to a Vivi nova (top coil) and a couple kangetech t3s' . I wasn't a big fan of the top coil Vivi nova after trying the t3s. I now have a couple protanks as well but I still use my t3s on a daily basis. Its trusty reliable and a very decent vape. I would say that should be your next step.
