I'm not sure what you mean by 9% nicotine. that is impossible.
in your strongest liquid you have 36mg nicotine in aprox 1000 mg (1ml) liquid. that is 0.036% so it's almost 3 times less than the level of concern.

... now, if 36mg liquid doesn't mean 36mg of nicotine per ml of liquid then we have a problem... this means that any supplier can write any numbers on their liquid, we can't really compare any liquids and we can't really know how much nicotine is in our liquids.... I really hope this is not true.

If the authorities requirements are specified in % the it means that it really doesn't matter if you sell 1 liter of liquid or one 1 ml cart: the % will stay the same if they contain the same type of liquid.

In my book, 36mg per 1000mg amounts to 3.6%. And that is high!

You're right Denni 36MG per 1000MG is 3.6% nicotine assuming the density of e-liquid is close to that of water and 1ML of e-liquid has a mass of approx 1000MG. This is not that much stronger than natural tobacco that can contain up to 3% nicotine and is less than some GM tobaccos that are 6% by dry weight.

Thanks Dazzer..

Baalel... Im not sure your correct there, on our initial lab tests the nicotine content of an 18mg wicked fluid was approx 9%.

Lower for our cartridges...That is 9% remember of the weight of the fluid, there is minimal fluid in a charged pre packed cart..I think it will be a close call.If it is 9% by volume weight of the overall soloution, then the pre packed cartridge plastic and packaging has to weigh 100 times more.

I suspect three drops make up the fluid content..The weight of this fluid then gets divided by 10... This gives the nicotine content weight.. In comparison to 1 tenth weight of 3 drops of fluid a pre packed cartridge including plastic cap and cellophane wrapper and possibly the weight of the box divided by 5 gives the %.

I am guessing it might be ok..Or hoping:)

If the nicotine content of 18mg juice was 9% how many mg per ml would that be?

Kate i went to a UKAS Accreditted Laboratory in Manchester on Friday.

They can do the relevant Accredited CHIP testing..Both for the Fluid and the Cartridges.
In answer to your question, i have no idea. All i do know is in the fluid its almost a certainty its over 0.1%.

The cartridges should be ok. We will test all four fluid strengths and 15 mini carts from 3 batches. A mix of 5 high, 5 med and 5 low. I will also test standard carts just 3 and super again just 3.

All will also have their chemical composition analysed...The cost is high but if we dont do it then the requirement for CHIP Compliance or none compliance cannot be verified. And Trading Standards will assume the worst untill proven otherwise.

The reality is 9% nicotine content is over 0.1% of the overall weight whichever way you do the Maths.

1000*0.09=90mg/ml
180mg/ml for "36mg" by that logic. Exactly 5 times more. Don't believe this.

Thanks. That's what I thought but it so doesn't add up! I'd love to know how much nicotine really is in our juice, I have a bad feeling that the mg amounts we are told might be meaningless. I hope not but nobody seems to know, even sellers.

i'm sure most sellers go by what figures the manufacurer quotes but like the short measures in bottles it's not always accurate.

I calculated 14-24mg/ml range according to REC-NZInterim_Report.pdf pages 8-9 depending which study(Sweden or USA) you take. That is if assuming 2ml consumed per day. I believe these were full-flavor cigs in both studies. Ruyan expects users to consume only 1ml per day so thats why they get only half. The difference to "e-liquid potency" thread calculations comes from assumption made by ruyan that cig manufacturers underrate their cigs nic absorption dosage.
