We typically suggest 18 - 24 mg nic strength for 1 ppd smokers. That being said, it's not unheard of to still have cig cravings even with the recommended strength of nicotine. Don't forget, there are over 4,ooo different chemicals in cigarette smoke, many of which are addictive in of themselves.
I'll just share how I quit, and I didn't try to quit cold turkey:
I had one full pack of cigs left for the week I decided to quit. I was a 1 ppd menthol smoker. I had 24mg of nic menthol liquid. I vaped as much as I liked from day one. If I felt a cig craving, I vaped more. If that didn't relieve the craving I allowed myself
HALF of a cigarette, and then put it out for the "next time". I repeated this method the entire week.
As the week progressed, I noticed I wasn't getting much satisfaction from that half of a cigarette, and I was able to ignore the cig cravings with more vaping. By the end of the week, the pack was finished, and so was I.
I haven't had a cigarette in over 14 months. Have not touched one, not wanted one.
My 18 y/o daughter and 20 y/o son decided to give me a unique "treat" for this past Father's Day. They took me to my first hookah bar. I wasn't really apprehensive at all even though it had been over a year since I had any form of tobacco.
We all had a good time, as it was a wonderful warm evening out on an outdoor patio. The fruit-flavored hookah was quite similar to vapor, very smooth and flavorful. I even had my Provari and glass cartotank sitting on the table, which drew the attention of others but no one inquired about what it was. I had no tobacco flashbacks or other side effects. I have no plans to do more hookah, as my Apple Cinnamon or Coffee vapes (currently lowered down to 12 mg nic) satisfies me just fine.
My point is, its not the end of the world that you had a unexpected setback. You may have more, no big deal. The important thing is its not the number of cigarettes that you smoke that is important, it's the ones that you DIDN'T.
