I had such good intentions. . . Once my kit arrived I was never going to smoke an analog again, but failed the very first day. I think a lot of it has to do with the first juices I ordered being way too low in nicotine (11mg) but I don't know. Whatever the reason, I feel like a failure and now I can't say "I never smoked again."

/disappointed

As long as you're vaping, having the occasional smoke isn't a failure at all. Many vapers still smoke, but are in the process of dropping off. Almost all of us have had the occasional cigarette, but as long as you're smoking less you are winning! Hang in there and keep on vaping!

That said, I'd recommend getting some 24mg liquid to kill the cravings. That's where I started and it helped a lot.

I guess one way of looking at it is, "Instead of smoking 10 cigarettes so far today, I've only smoked 2." I'll quickly lose track of the numbers and math so I think I'll go with, "I've smoked way less." lol

Definitely not giving up because I have neeewwwwwww jooooooose arriving today or tomorrow (and a new Ego!). You can't give up when you've got vape mail on the way!

Poster #3 is right on.

12 mg is too low. Try 18 or 24. Dont ever give up. I never though I could do it but my buddy showed me otherwise. He smoked over 2 packs a day for over 40 years, loves smoking and never intended to quit. He now hasnt smoked for like 5 months because of vaping. Just dont put pressure on yourself. Try and vape as much as you can in place of cigs and when you need a cig have one. Like others have said" Count the ones you dont have, not the ones you do have".

We typically suggest 18 - 24 mg nic strength for 1 ppd smokers. That being said, it's not unheard of to still have cig cravings even with the recommended strength of nicotine. Don't forget, there are over 4,ooo different chemicals in cigarette smoke, many of which are addictive in of themselves.

I'll just share how I quit, and I didn't try to quit cold turkey:

I had one full pack of cigs left for the week I decided to quit. I was a 1 ppd menthol smoker. I had 24mg of nic menthol liquid. I vaped as much as I liked from day one. If I felt a cig craving, I vaped more. If that didn't relieve the craving I allowed myself HALF of a cigarette, and then put it out for the "next time". I repeated this method the entire week.

As the week progressed, I noticed I wasn't getting much satisfaction from that half of a cigarette, and I was able to ignore the cig cravings with more vaping. By the end of the week, the pack was finished, and so was I.

I haven't had a cigarette in over 14 months. Have not touched one, not wanted one.

My 18 y/o daughter and 20 y/o son decided to give me a unique "treat" for this past Father's Day. They took me to my first hookah bar. I wasn't really apprehensive at all even though it had been over a year since I had any form of tobacco.

We all had a good time, as it was a wonderful warm evening out on an outdoor patio. The fruit-flavored hookah was quite similar to vapor, very smooth and flavorful. I even had my Provari and glass cartotank sitting on the table, which drew the attention of others but no one inquired about what it was. I had no tobacco flashbacks or other side effects. I have no plans to do more hookah, as my Apple Cinnamon or Coffee vapes (currently lowered down to 12 mg nic) satisfies me just fine.

My point is, its not the end of the world that you had a unexpected setback. You may have more, no big deal. The important thing is its not the number of cigarettes that you smoke that is important, it's the ones that you DIDN'T.

Sometimes vaping is little more than what you do while waiting for vapemail. Keep the faith!

Yep, I did that when I was trying to figure out my nic strength as long as it is the same flavor, otherwise you may get a nasty combination.

And don't consider having a cigarette a defeat. I am a very all or nothing kind of smoker...I never understood people that could just have a cig here and there and then not want 20 cigarettes all the time. So every time I slipped in the past, I would instantly buy a pack and try to make up for all those lost cigarettes. With the eCig, I simply bought it to supplement me and cut back on smoking during the day and then reward myself with cigarettes at night. I have kept that attitude, and still have a full pack in my car without picking one up yet...If I do, I won't feel defeated and just pick up my vaporizer until the next time I may slip...But as I am going 20 days, i just keep tricking my brain into saying lets see if I can go 21 days.

Cheers and keep on vaping!

Yeah, don't beat yourself up about it. You'll know once vaping takes over. Best thing to do if you have cigarettes left is to smoke them til they are gone. Much harder to pick one up if you don't have any and have to think twice about going to the store. The average craving only lasts about 3 minutes. That 3 minutes can feel like an eternity when it's happening, but as long as your closest cigarette is more then 3 minutes away, you'll be fine.

Good luck and keep up the good work.

You know what? I thought I had. lol Then, I was cleaning up around my computer, throwing away an empty pack, putting away the ashtray and such... and lo and behold! An almost full pack of cigs... DOH! lol

No worries. My wife has cigarettes around all the time. Since I've made the switch completely, I haven't even considered having one. You will get there. It doesn't happen over night.

My guess is, once you receive your higher strength juice, it will be easier to not want one.

I recall how a friend of mine quit smoking, years ago before e-cigs were even invented. She had a baby food jar full of cigarette butts filled with a little bit of water, and kept the lid on. Whenever she felt the urge for a cigarette, she just reached for the jar and opened the lid. You can imagine the nasty odor it had. It always took her desire for another cigarette away.

Even now, as I pass the public ashtray outside of the local grocery, I can smell the stench of cigarette butts and ashes from 20 feet away. Hard to believe that my car, my clothes, my house, and ME smelled like that.

My 20 y/o son lives with me and smokes. I don't like it but I allow it (maybe I shouldn't in MY house). My daughter doesn't live with me, and doesn't smoke, but of course her brother does and so do many of her friends. She asked for her own mod to use ZERO-nicotine flavored juice for her birthday. Hoping that being proactive was better than giving a lecture that would go over deaf ears, I complied and got her a BB and some tanks...a complete setup. Since she has been vaping socially, several of her friends have on their own gotten their own eGo's and are now vaping instead of smoking.

I don't think any of my juices is really high enough but MVB has: 236 ML UNFLAVORED NICOTINE JUICE USA MADE for $29.99...

Can I order the 36mg and just put a couple of drops into my existing bottles of juice? Alternatively, I guess I could do a small test batch in a spare bottle.

Thoughts?

Just a suggestion if you're serious about buying nic juice. Wizard labs is a better price for the same product. You can get twice that amount for the same money shipped.

Definitely up the nicotine, you can always cut back later on. When I started vaping 4 months ago, I had a full pack of cigs. Took about a week to run through them. Each cig reinforced the point that I was doing the right thing. By the end of the week the cigs just tasted foul. I haven't been back. That's not to say that if I found one in a desk drawer, I wouldn't smoke it, but I'll be damned if I will ever buy another. Hang in there, you can do this.
