I started vaping 5 weeks ago. The first day my cigs went down 75%. I've gone from 10 packs a week to less than 2 per week. I expect cigs to become entirely optional when I've got the devices, liquid and habits sorted out. I don't want to "quit", I want to lose interest. I think that's happening. Any vaping you do should translate into cigarettes you don't smoke. Just get started and see what happens. You might quit the day you start. There are lots of reports of that.

After 20 years of smoking a pack a day I was able to switch to vaping in one day. Still can't believe it but vaping was like a complete off switch to smoking for me.
. Me too!

Hello and welcome, my story amazes me lol. I saw someone vaping when I was at a social function, he was out with us smokers. Now, I smoked 30+ superkings a day, for nearly 40 yrs,and had tried everything to stop and I mean everything but nothing really worked. Yes I stayed off the cigarettes for a few weeks or even sometimes for a few months. But every single day was a white knuckle ride, by that I mean that I still had that monkey on my shoulder saying in my ear "you really, really want a real cigarette" and eventually I would think oh I'll just have one and that would put me right back to square one and I'd be smoking again.

Anyway I chatted to my friend who was out vaping and (as I knew he had smoked 50 a day) he recommended the Vamo v5. So when I got home I ordered it straight away.

While I waited for it to arrive I looked up vaping on line and tried to learn more about it. I saw a vidio on YouTube that said the technique for vaping is a bit different than smoking a cigarette so when my Vamo v5 arrived and I had it all charged up. I tried it and nearly choked myselft to death lol so I used some 0% nic e-juice for a few days until I was sure I had the technique just right. I was still smoking as usual during this time.

Then one afternoon I thought, right - time to try it with some nicotine e-juice. I had a cigarette with a cup of tea at 3pm then thought ok let's see how long I can go without one.

And I started vaping !

I have not had and even more amazing not wanted a stinky stick cigarette since. Bingo! The monkey is dead, I am free and I LOVE vaping.:p:p

I 100% believe that vaping has the best success rate as a stop smoking aid. Not only has it helped so many people on these forums and other forums, it allowed me to quit a 17+ year PAD habit. I had tried every possible aid on the market and had various levels of success from not at all to a few weeks. For me, the switch from smoking to vaping was unbelievably easy and I haven't had a cig in over 2 months. I am happier then I have ever been and feel great.

I smoked for 39 years, tried about 4 times to quit without any long-term success, but with e-cigs I've managed to quit not just once but twice -- after major illness in the summer when I was unable to vape, I briefly went back to smoking about a half-pk a day, but managed to quit again in about the same amount of time as the first time around, a month. And actually today, 110 days smoke-free, is the same amount of time that I had reached on the day I had the appendectomy, and in 6 days I will *surpass* my own personal best for smoke-free time since 1975.

It is nothing short of miraculous.

Pack a day for 19 years, tried the patch(alergic), gum(got sores in mouth), prescribed medication (nightmares, suicidal and homicidal tendencies), cold turkey - total failure, transitioned from smoking to vaping over a 2 month period and havn't looked back.
Pack of smokes has gone up 5 dollars since I switched, and in my personal opinion is a much better alternative.
As the market evolves vaping has gotten much more satisfying and hassel free, let the adventure continue :vapor:

I've already gone into too much detail in another post, so will just say......

45 year smoker, 2 - 3 PAD the first 25 or so, 1 PAD the past 19. After trying and failing quitting with every other method/attempt, I went to a vape store with the intent I wouldn't quit smoking, but at least cut way back. I walked out with the gear and swear I have only for one very brief moment even thought about lighting up a stinky. I, my wife, my kids, my GP, and my cardiologist are all amazed that it is working this well. Its only been almost 5 months, but can't even imagine stupidly going back as good as vaping is.

I smoked for 33 years. 1.5-2 PaD. At 47 it was to the point it was 2+ a day and I was starting to feel it. Heavy cheast, coughing in early morning and constantly spitting. I had enough. I had also thought about switching to Vaping for a while. Had people I knew that had switched, but only people I would see once and a while and have a short convo with. Nobody constantly around me.

I helped a friend move and we were taking about smoking. She said she knew a local vape shop owner. I said "We're going!"

My last cigarette was walking up to the shop.

Here's what I did.

Step 1.
Not knowing all the lingo I told them I didn't want the small pen type stuff, I wanted large batteries, I wanted something that held a bunch of juice because I didn't want to fill it constantly, some adjustablity and I wanted a cigarette flavor. And I wanted it STRONG nic wise.

I tried a few different things and a few juices. I settled on

Sigelei Legend V2 VV/VW with some efest 18650s and a DCT F16 carto tank. I grabbed 120ml of the juice I chose.

Step 2:
Headed directly to local outdoor tiki bar and hung for about 6 hours. Kept busy talking, watching TV, had a few beers and vaped. I told myself if I could make it through a bar session..I could do anything lol

What I think helped me. The tabacco flavor and the strong 24mg nic.

Day 1-2: I had the mod set all the way down at 3.0 volts and a 1 second drag was like WOW. She and I were joking like "Dare ya to do a 2-3 second drag!!". I was lightly pulling air into my mouth for about .5 seconds, hitting the button for about 1 second and following it up with a second off the button. This gave me a realistic light drag to compare to smoking.

I did that for a few days and then got used to the way the vapor/nic felt and adjusted my button time. Now I vape at 3.4 volts, about 6.5 watts at 1.8Ohms and I'm getting ready to try my new DNA40 box mod and Kayfuns when they arrive.

Oh..I quit Sept 23 of this year. :)

Bottom line. I would suggest transition from it being tabacco flavour/higher nic and then settle in. If you're in a week..you're done. I left 3 cartoons of cigs in my fridge so every time I opened the door they were staring me in the face. I can honestly say I never craved a cigarette. My only hurdle was reaching for them or checking for them in pockets like when leaving house.

I've tried a bunch of stuff lately. I think I made a good choice with my first setup.

Ash free for 3 months now. Smoked for almost 40 years. Was up to about 2 PAD. Picked up a starter kit for a business trip (non-smoking plane, car, hotel, etc.). Forced myself to use just the kit alone on the trip. By the time I got back, no cravings for analogs. Actually lit one up by mistake (partial pack left over in my office) a week later and almost gagged. Still have three packs left over in a carton that I'll never touch.
