I don't know if its just me but I am having some panics since couple days ago. Nothing really serious but it also can be from extreme stress due to my job (sales...its freakin' intense especially during slow season plus economic depression). I quit smoking like a month or so but started again on my business trip. Now I hopped on vaping and it has been about 1 week and a half, I feel nervous sometimes especially while I'm writing this thread. Have you guys had any panic like this when you switched? What kind of hard time did you guys came through?

Maybe a little but everyone is different. I had to stop drinking coffee in the morning cawz it would make me want a analog soooo bad. After a while that anxiety goes away. E cigs are definitely not cigarettes. I used to think I was replacing one with another in a since but they are really not much alike other than they both have nicotine in them. That's just my opinion though! What I mean is you can't just pick up a e cig and think you're never gonna think about a stinky again. You gotta be ready to quit the real deal and for a lot of people it can be overwhelming. I know it was for me!

I had a few panic attacks about 2 months after I started....turns out, well I believe this anyway, that I was getting too much nicotine in my system. I was vaping heaps more than I was ever smoking, and therefore getting alot more nicotine in me than I was when smoking.

I made myself cut back on the vaping, and I also dropped my nicotine level down a step (went from 12mg to 6mg) and havent had a problem since.

The only time I've had that kind of feeling so far is when I went camping. I was vaping like mad and still went out the next morning and bought a pack of cigarettes. Once I came home, I was fine. Haven't touched a cigarette since. But something about being out camping makes me NEED a cigarette.

Isn't it weird the grip that smoking has on us.

The only trigger I had like that was when I lit the grill a few weeks back. It was always my favorite smoking time, out by the grill just drinking a beer and tending the firebox. I kept feeling my pockets for my cigarettes even though I had my vape in one hand and my beer in the other - it was a weird anxiety like I was missing something. I live out in the sticks so going into town for a pack of smokes is not only a decision, but one I have to reflect on for about 30 minutes - and this really helps me not cave to those cravings.

I still get the odd feeling of anxiety that I never used to have before, but I think it's more battery anxiety now...

I didn't ban myself from cigs, they're through there in the drawer and if I want one, or twenty for that matter, I'll have them. However I've found that getting something that tastes good and vapes good is the key to genuinely not wanting a cig.

You don't say what you're vaping but maybe there's better out there. I'm making the assumption that you're using cig-a-likes (no offense meant, it's just that you seem new to vaping). Have a look at some of the better (but still cheap) alternatives like an eGo battery with a Kanger evod on it. Maybe play around mixing your own juice and your nicotine level. Have a few flavors on the go at any time so you don't get bored with them.

All folks are different, but I can vouch 100% that using a decent kit makes a world of difference.

I carried a pack of smokes in my shirt pocket for the fist couple months. Felt naked and panicky if I didn't have them. After that I put one in a test tube and kept it in the console of my truck. It's still there, over two years later. Some folks might need to remove all temptations to quit. For me it was much easier knowing they were there if I really needed them.

It's been a relatively easy transition for me. To be completely honest, after smoking for 31 years, I was sick and tired of it anyway, I was just chained to the nicotine, and the hand-to-mouth-and-inhaling thing. Vaping provides that. Sure, there have been times I've been dissatisfied, like when I started out with Blu, but the same google search that brought me to Blu also told me that there were far better, infinitely superior products out there. I never, not for one nano-second, seriously considered buying another pack of cigarettes, only better vaping gear, and I cared very little how much it would cost. I'm not up on a soap box or anything, maybe I was lucky. But the one thing you can bet your life on was the fact that I was SICK of smoking anyway, like I said. Maybe that was why it was so 'easy' for me.

Well, I had vaped several years back but relapsed back onto analogs... I knew I'd prefer vaping when I started vaping again, so no panic here. I'm not completely off analogs yet, but now I'm down to about 3 cigs per day :D

I DEFINITELY agree that using a good kit makes a world of difference. For a beginner I suggest an eGo kit that comes with clearomizers and get you some juice that sounds good!

Happy Vaping :vapor:

I didn't stop smoking as soon as I started vaping. If I wanted a cigarette, I smoked one. I just now today, after about a month have decided I was ready to stop the analogs. Haven't had one since around 4pm last night. My smoking did cut down drastically, but I didn't want the panic to set in that I couldn't smoke, or wasn't supposed to, so I put no pressure on myself. I guess now it's time to wash all the ashtrays & put them up. They really do stink!

it's not uncommon. This isn't a Quit Smoking forum, and I don't see anyone telling others not to smoke. I Do see a very high level of acceptance of those that continue.

    in a word YES, totally!

I'm not going to say it's normal or abnormal, but everyone handles stress and quitting smoking differently. In my first couple of weeks, even though I was happy I wasn't smoking, out of nowhere I would get these random feelings like something was wrong, like I was forgetting to do something. Moreover, it would also feel like I was lost, like I was driving to an important event and I just realized I took the wrong turn and I have no idea where I am.

One thing I can say I learned about smoking and quitting (and this is just my experience), is that each cigarette I smoked was something in my day that I really looked forward to. It was my reward for working hard, it made good times better, it was the crutch I leaned on when times are tough, it made driving fun and who even wants to drink coffee or beer if you don't smoke a cigarette ... you get the point.

I honestly thought I was going to be an analog lifer, which is why I was perplexed at first that vaping worked so well.

My recommendation, don't listen to the thoughts your brain is telling you right now, your body is going through a lot with quitting smoking AND a stressful job...I heard someone say once, my head and thoughts are like a bad neighborhood, don't go there alone, you can get yourself in a lot of trouble..." which basically means, keep doing what your doing with sharing about what's going on with friends, ECF, etc....Big help to get those thoughts out of your head

Another recommendation, (which helped me), I got high nicotine juice and any time I craved a cigarette or just felt a little crazy, I vaped my ecig exactly the same way as I did cigarettes, if I was at work, I'd go outside, if i was at home, I would go outside, etc ... Tricked my brain into thinking I was having a real cigarette

    Keep it up!

I haven't had a cigarette since Sunday, but have been vaping a bit here and there, which is exactly what I wanted. I have a V2 ecig with the .6 carts and while I am vaping a bit more than I was smoking, I've noticed that I don't have the cravings or irritablity I would get when I stop smoking. Eventually I would like to vape strictly for the flavor, but for now I'm starting slowly.

For me, drinking was the big test of whether I'd be able to stick to vaping. I got myself good and drunk a few days after I started vaping and had no problem at all. And if I'm out on break with the guys who smoke at my shop, still no problem. When I wear cargo pants, I still check the side pockets for a pack of smokes, but when I don't find them I just have an "oh yeah" kind of moment. But when I was camping and sitting at the campfire, my PV just didn't seem...right I guess.

I first started vaping to help me stop smoking, but my brain told me that I didn't want to quit smoking. I still needed that first smoke in the morning for a few weeks. Once I decided that I hadn't quit smoking, I had just replaced it with vaping (which tastes and smells a hell of a lot better) I haven't even thought about burning tobacco.

I didn't quit smoking for a couple of weeks after I started vaping. I went from 1.5 packs a day to less than 1/2 though, and gradually got to one or two a day, then none.

The biggest panic I had was during those first few weeks, when I was getting down to the last few sticks in the pack. The anxiety of almost being out of cigs made me save them longer, which helped cut down their use even more.

I still have those brief "I'm out of cigarettes!" moments, but they're much rarer and much less frightful.
