You've got some good advice so far. If your really interested I suggest you go to the APV forum. Check out what is being called the VAMO. Then look at the Provari thread. Read what others are saying about the devices. Ask questions. I own both the VAMO and a Provari and have been really pleased with both. Before anyone starts in on me, yes I realize that the Provari will be included in my will cause it's made so well. The Provari is a fantastic device. If the OP doesn't want to spend that kind of money then I can highly recomend the VAMO. Provari with no batteries = $159.00. Vamo with no batteries = around $50.00.

Well said, also look at what each device has to offer as well, where you may be using the device...ect. Well made will come in handy if your planing to keep your device in your pocket at work and play.
Also check out box mods, they are middle of the road price wise starting. Some may not be as well made while others are made like Sherman tanks and may possibly hold up to a stern beating from a baseball bat. The world is way more diverse then just ProVari or Vamo...I'd say look at everything, decide what fits you and run with it. I'll say that vaping is vaping, but you have to make it your way and your style...:)

P.S. I own 2x Vamo mods, couldn't be happier truthfully and even turned in my ZMax to back up status for them. Had a LT that, well it just had a really bad day :).

Good List thus far, I'd say go ahead and invest in the eGo APV...don't have much hope on the ProVari v.2. I figure by the time that happens I'll be old and gray.

I think the V2 wont be to far away considering variable wattage is much more user friendly than variable voltage but of course it will be more expensive than the current provari. The provari is the pinnacle, but by no means, these devices are not rocket science or works of art... or even slightly as complex as a phone or tablet yet the prices are similar. Until I can browse ecf or check the weather on my ecig, I won't pay that much for one.

The VMAO is looking to be a very decent device for an incredible price. It's basically got all the features of the Vmax v2 for about half the price

You can find them cheapest on healthcabin but you have to wait for China shipping

Scott did a review if you're interested

Haha! Did that guy get into a bar fight the night before? It seems to be a reasonably priced device. I agree with his critique on the button placement. It would have been nice over the led screen but I like the versatility and will definitely consider it.

COV has the Vmax...might be good? VMax from SmokTech Mod in Stainless Steel $75 isn't a bad price.

Is was looking at the Zmax V2. What changes did the make with the Vmax V2 vs V1? I like the idea of having the same wattage more than the same voltage. I don't know how many times I've killed carto's and atty's switching and not adjusting the voltage. I'm sure variable wattage would undoubtedly save me some money.

What's the difference in length between these two devices?

Hi C Heise. The Zmax and Vmax are two different devices. The Vmax is a variable voltage mod. The Zmax has variable voltage and variable wattage. The Zmax 1 used an average to measure volts/watts - but that isn't accurate. The Zmax 2 uses RMS (root mean square) and is very accurate.

So with a Zmax you can use variable voltage, or variable wattage.
pbusardo review is here - a bit long but very thorough:
A PBusardo Review - Smoktech Z-Max V2 - YouTube

The Vamo has the same features and accuracy as the Zmax 2 - accurate variable voltage and variable wattage. It's a cheaper mod - $40 from Health Cabin (use DHL as shipping method if you get one from there) and I think about $50 from some US vendors. Health cabin call it the eGo Variable Volt/Watt APV V2. http://www.healthcabin.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1132&products_id=8190

One thing I like about the Vamo is that you can use an 18650 battery or an 18350 in it - so you get two size mods in one.

So briefly:
Vmax - variable voltage
Zmax 1 - variable voltage and variable wattage - not accurate to set values
Zmax 2- accurate variable voltage and variable wattage
Vamo - accurate variable voltage and variable wattage

I'm going to go with a Vamo. Does anyone know if the Vamo would work with these? Or would they be too long? Efest 3.7V 18650 Li-Ion 3100mAh Protected Battery - Button Top I would think since most battery's are too short they might fit. The extra capacity would be nice.

I think you'd be better getting a button top IMR. Something like this: Efest IMR 18650 HD 2250mAh Battery - Button Top

Although the one you linked is protected, IMRs have safer chemistry. I use AW IMRs myself. They are recommended as the best by ECF also:http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/129569-rechargeable-batteries.html
They have them here:
*NEW* AW IMR 18650 2000 mAh

I didn't notice it wasn't an IMR until you mentioned it. I ordered the unit from Zainy. Hopefully it doesn't take forever. I've ordered from China before and it's never taken more than a few weeks... but they weren't ecigs so who knows. I just got the body. I'll order from one of my normal vendors for the batteries and a charger.

Sorry, not knowing you I didn't know what you already knew re: IMRs etc. Glad you found something.
