So I've been battling really bad vape tongue for 3 weeks( I've been vaping and cig free for 1 month). I've gotten used to only tasting muted flavors and only certain ones. Since yesterday when I vape the same flavors they are super thick and the vapor makes me cough. It feels different in my lungs if that makes sense. I've changed the coils. I'm using two tanks and two flavors and I get the same thing. I'm starting to have cig cravings and I go to vape and it literally makes me start hacking. What is up? I've been really good and haven't cheated at all with analogs and every time I think I'm good my nautilus doesn't work or I can't taste it/ tastes like perfume. Now I can't vape it because of the weird feeling I get and coughing. Sorry for the rant and any spelling errors. I'm freaking out.

Are you pulling too hard perhaps? I forget who said it, but one of the most valuable pieces of advice I picked up as a noob was that you need to pull like a slow southern breeze. I know for me, at 18 mg, I have a really scratchy throat with my first few vapes in the morning, but it lessens the more I vape. Are you doing lung hits or mouth to lung? If you're doing lung hits, maybe just try mouth to lung or just in your mouth and hold. Good luck! Stay strong!

I smoked a pack of Marlboro menthol lights a day. I'm using 12 nic and have been for 3 weeks because the 6 I was chain vaping. It's the same equipment, new coils and two flavors that I've been tasting pretty well( also good brands). I'm cleaning out the tanks now to see if it's that. Maybe there's a buildup. I'm at a loss.

You may have a flooded coil. Pulling too hard on too small of an air inlet can flood your coil. Even if it's not outright gurgling - your vape is possibly way too saturated, and can make you cough like you did on your first ciggy.
Has your vapor production gotten low, too?

I've had this happen over and over. Flooded coils just suck. Try changing it if you can. If you can't, and can't get to a vape shop til morning - you're not married to vaping, and it's not "cheating". Do what you gotta till you can get this figured out.

Just my personal take on it. :)

A pack of lights per day and 12mg sound pretty compatible.

Are you using variable voltage battery? Maybe you cranked the voltage.

Are you drinking tons of water? It's no joke, way more water than you're used to will make a drastic difference.

and like Roxy said, you're going to hack your lungs clean to some extent.

I hacked lung butter for three weeks straight (no joke). Try lighter, mouth to lung inhales. Vaping is very different from coffin sticks. If you have VV play with the voltage. If you don't have that option be patient. Quitting the coffin sticks is difficult.

We are all here to help you. Ask questions.

Hi Nora, I'm also experiencing vape tongue today and up until this moment I didn't realize there was a term for it, lol. I'm righ there with you. Earlier tonight I brushed my teeth really good, used the waterpik, and really scrubbed my tongue. Then I switched to a citrus vape...just kind of cleanses the palate. That all helped. And oh yeah, water. I keep forgetting water!

Hang in there, I think this too shall pass :)

I am not a pro by any means but I had a very similar experience when I was vaping 24mg, and was sitting vaping for extended periods of time. After getting my mechanical mod if I am going to vape for any amount of time I run 6mg in that and have not had the issue since. Could be the lower nicotine or the increased airflow in that mod, again not an expert just my experience.

Nic`d Up in Oklahoma!
There is a point, about three or four weeks in, where the lungs decide that if you are`nt going to put any more crap into them, its time to clean out the gunk. It can be very disconcerting. You`ll want to hack and cough at the slighted deep breath, you may even feel a tightness in the chest due to the muscle contractions that are going on trying to get all of this crap out of there. Add this to a bad case of VT, and its a recipe for caving to the cancer stick. I would recommend that you get some 24-36mg juice, so that you don`t have to fight nic withdrawal at the same time as dealing with this purge. Depending on how much and how long you smoked, this purge can last two to 4 weeks. You just have to get through it. High Nic can help calm you down while your body adjusts to not being constantly poisoned. I went through the same thing, it lasted about 2 weeks give or take, and it did kinda scare me a bit, I was not liking the tightness at all. I also had vape tongue, and man was it bad. BUT, the 36 MG juice I had got me through it, and now its like I can breath better than I ever did.

The beautiful thing about VT, is that once its gone, your taste comes roaring back to life like you never knew they could, its a grand experience and so very well worth it!!

Best of luck.

This might not apply to you, but I thought it was worth sharing. It took my body at least a month to realize it didn't like pg. No problems at first, then vaping started to give me wicked headaches. Finally decided it might be the pg and went all vg. Headaches went away. A lot of folks bodies don't seem to jive with that stuff. Just a thought. Good luck.

Along with suggestions already mentioned or some i may repeat.

Some liquids get better and sometimes stronger after leaving them for a while. Others are good to vape or at least the website says they are.
Have you tried a menthol eliquid ? Some like them others don't but they do give a cooling blast.
More voltage may help. Try different liquids from different companies.
Slower inhale , sometimes you can get crappy coils so a change may help.

For Vape Tongue I've found the following 3 flavors help: Menthol (unless you're already vaping a Menthol), Cinnamon, or Coffee. I started vaping SubZero Menthol from Halo then got VT so I mixed it up with a Cinnamon vape. Now that I'm a year in someone mentioned a coffee vape to cleanse the palette and it works. If I feel like a flavor isn't tasting like it should I pop on a new tank with my coffee vape and then try the flavor again. It works wonders!

( I've been vaping and cig free for 1 month). .

First!

Relax it's OK, you're right where you are supposed to be.
Your body is still cleaning years of toxins from analogs from your system. It is all part of the body's cleaning process.
Tars are slowly loosening from your cilia, packed up phlegm is loosening.
You are becoming healthier by the minute!!
It is a VERY good thing. I bet you can breathe a bit better than before and that your sense of smell is improving.
Drink LOTS of fluids to aid in the cleansing and, as mentioned here, it helps combat the dehydration that can come from vaping.

As the "covering" clears from your lungs they will be more sensitive for a while ( they haven't been clean like this before !) this is where you probably are.
It is a process, please be happy that your lungs still have the ability to clear themselves.

Don't worry, be happy...you are doing the RIGHT thing !
