Hi yall. I've had my kGo for almost a month now, and I have yet to switch over fully from analogs. The first mistake I made was ordering only 12mg juice. I ordered many samples but I fell in love with the RY4 flavor from Highbrow. The problem was that I wasn't getting enough nicotine and craved that nice TH. Next I tried some 24mg Bobas. Didn't like the flavor as much and it stung my mouth and throat something serious. Which kind of stunk because with going from 1 pad I think I need that level of nic, but it hurts too much to vape. So next I ordered some 18mg samples in some very "beachy" flavors in a 30% pg. I felt awful. I don't know if the flavors were too sweet or if it was the PG, but I hated it and felt so nauseous. Those will be getting traded also. I'm staying with 10% VG from now on. After that I ordered a sample of the Gorilla Juice in 18mg. I think this is where I will stay for a while. A little TH but no stinging. The problem now though is that it makes me cough. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with having a cold last week or if it's vaping in general. It's a throat cough, not a lung cough. Maybe from just having a dry "vape" throat on top of sinus drainage? vaping didn't make me cough before. I'll smoke an analog and have no problem, take vape and cough like crazy. So I'm just kind of stuck and kind of down that I'm having such a hard time switching.

Some can handle the PG in their juices, and some people encounter a lot of throat irritation from PG juices, which is what happened to me. You may want to try doing a 50%pg/50%vg juice to see if that helps. High PG tends to dehydrate, drink a bit more water. As for the nausea.....I have no clue...might have been too much nic in that mix by accident?

Also, keeping your cartomizers or cartridges good and wet will help with your throat. When they get too dry, you burn the filler and for ME, that irritates the living *&!# out of my throat. 8-o

A good rule I think for ordering juices is, in order of importance for kicking cigarettes:
1. find the nic level that takes care of your cravings. Get that figured out ASAP.
2. find the PG to VG ratio which irritates you the least (or not at all).
and once you have those figured out,
3. Try new flavors, and find some favorites.

I was a 25 cigarette/day smoker. That's 17 packs in 14 days. I figured I'd need something strong, so I went with 24mg/ml juices. Being a menthol smoker, I tend to lean towards minty and menthol blends (no tobacco flavors, I actually hate the taste of tobacco which is why I smoked menthols) but I've found some really good flavors out there. It might help to not think of this as smoking, in ANY way, shape, or form and actually lean away from tobacco flavors so that you can distance your tastebuds away from the cigarettes.

I've only been vaping for a little over a month now, over three full weeks totally tobacco free, and within the first two weeks of dropping the cigs, my sense of smell and taste have returned making cigarettes and secondhand smoke almost unbearable.

Hope this helps!

Are you drawing on kGo like you do on the analog? Because that can cause you to cough. Try taking slower pulls and hold it in your mouth THEN inhale see if that helps. I can't do any more that a 50% PG mix or it gives me heartburn and nose bleeds so know how that ones is! I was a pack and half a day smoker (reds) and after a month of 18-24 mg nic am down to 12mgs. Try the RY4 you liked in a 16-18 mg strength and see if that works better for you in what ever PG/VG ratio you find works best for you. Don't give up or even beat yourself up over having a few analogs right now! You are still figuring out what is going to work for you and you will get there!

you are definitely going to want to up things to 18mg or maybe even 24mg...

also if you can commit to it for a short period of time like say to yourself "i will not buy a pack of real smokes for 4 days" i think that can do you some good as well

once you are off them for a bit, the taste of a real cig really is going to be nasty to you

This many responses and nobody has yet mentioned the cardinal rule of vaping?

Both PG and VG are humectants and they steal water away from your body...
In other words, they are going to dehydrate you to some degree, especially your mouth and throat.

Because of this, you need to drink more water.
The more water the better!

That should help with the coughing.
:)

Yes, I am always worried about that because me getting dehydrated is a big danger. I have something called Addison's disease and being dehydrated could pose a serious health risk (a lot like smoking analogs, eh?) So I make sure I am drinking something at all times. This is something that happens no matter if I just chugged a bottle of water. Unless it's just sucking the water out of my throat or something. It's not that my mouth is dry, it's just a reaction. Vape, cough. Vape, cough. I'm wondering if it's just me recovering from having the cold and an irritated throat.

I'm fairly new to this too so here's my 2 cents worth! I was smoking 2.5 PAD when I started vaping. I immediately cut my analog intake by 90% when I started to vape. I keep some very strong tobacco e-liquid (36 mg) and if the analog demon raises his head I drip about 3 drops. For me it is very close to smoking an analog. I don't know if you can drip to your model or not (see I'm still green! :) ) There are many various bridgless attys and Drip-O-Mizers for any sealed battery system. You can't drip to a battery that has an opening in the end of it for obvious reasons.

Remember: everytime you vape you don't smoke. I think you are waaaaay ahead of the curve. Don't push yourself re: ditching the analogs. I woke up one day and said, "I think I want the flavor of vaping over the flavor of an analog and I'm going to try no analogs today." That was 3/24/12 and I haven't had an analog since. Even if you smoke 50% fewer analogs, for the rest of your life, along with vaping, think of how much you benefit. Take your time. You're doing great; give yourself a little slack and don't rush it. When the right e-liquid, PV, and vaping experience occur you'll be able to put down (or cut way back on) analogs. Hang in there!

Keep in mind, every real smoke you leave behind is 7 minutes of your life back (or so they say...). There is no rule that you have to switch day 1. Everyone is different and for some it takes a little longer, so don't feel bad about working through all the transition stuff the best you can (you already did the hardest part which is that 1st step deciding to quit).

I had a lot of issues with sore throat in the beginning. For me it came down to finding the right juice (coming from 1.5PAD Marlboro/day for me is 18mg between 50pg/50vg and 30pg/70vg). And drinking lots of water (sometimes substituted by a shot & a beer :toast:).

Good luck, we're all rooting for you

Well here is my two cents. I started vaping with Pro Smoke, started reading here and ended up buying a Ego-C. The day I started using the ego I coughed and coughed every time I took a hit, I realized the vaping system was totally different then the little cig looking one. I am still learning as this is my 3 week with the ego and if I am in a hurry and take a too big of a drag I will cough my brains out. I also found and I know most say it ruins your atty but I use 100% VG liquid (not cut with alcohol, that's hurts my head) because anything else irritated my throat so bad that it wasn't worth the pain. 30 little bottles latter i found what I think is helping me. Yes I still do between 3 to 7 analogs a day from over a pack a day. And each day I'm trying to pull back. The frustrating thing about vaping is a huge learning curve on what works. I have tried 36 mg nicotine on down, after 6 o'clock at night I have to switch to 0% nic because my heart races to much to sleep. So my advise is hang in there and before you know it, you'll figure it out
