Hey guys, I finally decided to make an account and start posting instead of just lurking through the forums.

I've been vaping for about a year and a half now. I started with iClear 16 on an ego twist, and now own some EVOD's, a Mini Protank 2, some MT3S's, and now have taken the plunge and purchased an Aerotank V2. I really enjoy being able to change the air intake, and it has good flavor for the first couple puffs, but I'm an all day vapor (stay at home student, so I can vape all day if I want to) and the performance seems to drop off after a few minutes.

I've tried turning up the voltage (I have a standard 3.2-4.8 twist battery) but once the flavor starts to come back it burns pretty soon after. I haven't had this much difficulty finding a "sweet spot" with any of my other tanks, and I'm really confused. Is it just the battery? Does this tank need a better or stronger battery to really shine? It came with 2 coils, and I know the kanger coils are definitely hit or miss, so perhaps its just faulty coils? Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks guys.

Hello and welcome to the forum queenz. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are getting a burnt taste (we call those "dry hits"), if usually means your wick cannot pull the eliquid fast enough to keep up with your battery. There are a couple of things you can do:

1. Dial down your voltage. This will vaporize the eliquid at a slower rate (if your battery allows you to do this)
2. Decrease the airflow, if your tank has adjustable airflow. The decrease in airflow will increase vacuum inside the tank's atomizer, which should increase the flow of juice to the wick..
3. Take a sharp draw (or two) on your drip tip (covering the air hole and without engaging your battery). This will pull more eliquid into the coil so that it will be available when you press the battery button and take a draw.

You will get the feel of this over time and develop a sense of how often you will need to do this to avoid "dry hits". The PG/VG ratio of your eliquid also comes into play, as VG is thicker than PG . If you use high VG try adding a few drops of distilled water to your tank to thin out the eliquid. You could also install a higher ohm coil.

unscrew the coil, in that airway channel theres the battery pin it gets all gunked up down there from flooding. and once the gunk gets heated up it doesn't fire right, and you lose flavor, i ran into this problem my first week with the v2, took me forever to figure out that the channel was getting gunked up. message me if you need more details on the V2. i ran into abunch of problems with mine when i first got it, took me awhile to sort threw them. what ratio are you running?

Thanks for the welcome, and the suggestions! Unfortunately, I'm already well versed in the 1st and 3rd trick, because I had to use them a lot in for my Protank. I really enjoy the tight draw from having only 1 hole open, but I had been experimenting opening up to 3 holes to see if that would solve it. I turned it back down to just one hole open, but I had this problem with only one open before too.

I always had a "sweet spot" of a certain voltage with each tank/flavor combo I've had thus far. I'm just frustrated from not being able to find it on this tank. I've only had it for a week and a half, but it's never taken me this long to find it.

I took the coil out and cleaned the connections and the inside of the air flow chamber. There was some juice down there, so hopefully that will help. I've only been vaping it for a few minutes since the cleaning, so only time will tell. Thanks for the tip!

So, Susan-S, if the draw is too "airy" does that mean the vacuum isn't happening? Just curious, because having one open is a little too tight, but having two open definitely feels airy. Not as much as having more than two, but there is a big jump from tight to just open. Everytime I start vaping, I start at 3.2 and work my way up the slider as needed if that matters. Just trying to learn, as this is the first one I've had that allows me to change how much air goes in.

What resistance are your coils, what voltage are you using them on and how old is the offending coil. Oh, what kind of juice are you using--dark and sweet or clear and colorless?

Aerotanks come with dual coils and they need more wattage than singles. Also, do you know what kind of coil heads you have? The old type with whiskers sticking out, the enclosed one with 4 small holes or enclosed with 2 large holes?

According to the packet it came with 1.8 resistance coils. I've been vaping at 3.2 voltage, occasionally going as far up as 4.3 if it isn't performing as good as I'd like. I use dark sweet juices (currently vaping coconut cream pie) and haven't had this much trouble with the same juices in other tanks. I now that they do make the coil work harder than the light juices, but I prefer these flavors and am fine with that.

I have new dual coils with 4 holes total (2 on each side) with internal wicks.

Those don't wick as well, in my experience, as those with two larger holes, but they are certainly usable.

I also have 1.8Ω dual coils (consisting of two 3.6Ω coils) and usually vape at 4.2v minimum--anything lower than that doesn't vaporize my eliquids well.

The burning taste usually indicates a dry coil. Make sure your coils are well primed (saturated with juice) before you start vaping. Those coils are built a bit like tine cartomizers, there's a tiny bit of filler inside, and filler needs to be soaked. You can drip a few drops directly into the coil, fill the tank and then allow the coil head some time to absorb the liquid.

I have my AFC open somewhere between half to three quarters of the way. Make sure that the tank is assembled correctly and do not over tighten it onto the battery as doing so may dislodge the center pin.

If you're using sweet juices, clean your coils often or change them when the flavor and vapor production begin to diminish.

Good luck!

Are these the only coils that work with the tank, or are there better ones for it? I only have the two that it shipped with right now, so just thinking ahead.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm getting the hang of it now, for some reason those air holes really tripped me up.

Kinda weird but this is one of the tanks that I've found shaking it helps. I'd try everything everyone else mentioned and just learned a trick or two myself (why did I stop coming here?) but with the dark/thick juices sometimes shaking the bubbles out gets things working right again. I've also broken a base doing this so I try and unscrew it or hold the base (not the mod/battery) before I really start shaking.

I don't think I'm brave enough for that haha, but if I get desperate I'll try it. It seems to be working pretty good now after I've been tinkering with the settings, think I finally found the sweet spot for this flavor.

crank up the volts, if you run them to low the coil doesn't get enough heat, thus making the juice caramelize on the coil itself. the in the box you got your v2 in, theres a little book thingy. it gives you some ideas for what they feel the best volts/watts are for the size coil.

It recommends 3.7-5.5v in my booklet. I had read that before cranking it up before, but it burnt on me when I first tried. I'm sure it was just user error, so I'll keep fiddling with it. As the volts go up, does the airflow need to increase as well?

How much use have these two coils seen? I found I go through the kanger dual coils quite often, especially with dark sweet juice. Rinsing them out and drying them over night works for a bit but you can be sure the coil is dying when the vape is less than normal.

Luckily, the kanger coils are cheap. You are right on with the 1.8's but i have found they are getting harder to find locally... everyone stocking 1.5's.

They just give you a wide range, but in my experience with those coils, 3.7v is not quite enough and 5v is already too high. Those stock coils can't wick fast enough to keep the coil wet at higher wattages. You should be OK between 4-4.8v or so--with your 1,8Ω dual coils.

And yes, you need fast wicking and good airflow to keep the coil from overheating.

Experiment and you'll find your sweet spot soon. And in the future, try the coils with two large holes (rather than 4 small ones).

I just got the tank about 2 weeks ago. I used the first coil for awhile, cleaned it, and put in the 2nd coil a few days ago. I have to order online, Japan is big with aspire in the B&M's so finding 1.8 is pretty easy. I got used to having to clean them frequently from my protank and other kanger tanks, so luckily the habit is already there. Thanks for the info though.

Alright thank you. I just used these coils because they're the ones that were shipped with the tank. I'll be sure to order the other ones when I order more. It is vaping much better now. Thanks everyone for all the advice and tips.
