Hello! I just received my DSE-901b kit today from thesmokelessshop.com. It got here blazing fast, since I only ordered it on Saturday night, and we are right in the middle of last minute Christmas postage.

I have a couple of questions though. How much eliquid am I supposed to put into a cartidge to refill it? I dug around, and found a couple of posts mention about 0.5ml. After checking on a conversion site, that looked like about 10 drops (if a "drop" really is about 0.05ml).

My main problem is that after I refill a cartridge, or even put on a new, pre-sealed one, it only seems to work for about 4 or 5 puffs, and then the vapor is gone.

What could I be doing wrong? All the batteries came completely charged, but I threw one on the charger just in case, but that was not the problem. I don't think it is the atomizer, since it works great when I drip, but I really don't want to keep doing that and risk my atomizer.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi-jack ;)

You put enough eliquid in the cartridge to make the filler go damp on top ... not enough to leave a pool of liquid, that's too much. 901 cartridges are thought to hold between 0.3 and 0.5ml but you won't need that much to refill because there will still be some in there that hasn't wicked out.

I have trouble with classic cartridges but haven't had any problems yet with my 901, it seems to wick well onto the atomiser. I've found that if I take fewer draws and let the device rest a little between them the juice refills the atomiser better. Vaping quickly can just dry it and the end of the cartridge filler out before the liquid can seep down.

I don't know if that's any help for you but it sounds like it might be part of the problem.

Jack ... got my 901 last night from katy too.

Done exactly the same as you ;).

I've been using mine today and yes Kate is right. Don't puffo n it too quickly. If it does dry up then let it rest for 30 minutes and try again.
I have tried refilling the carts i used and 3 drops seemed to be enough.

I did try using the syringe on an empty cart and that worked pretty good too. Then tonight i topped off the cart i used today and 4 drops had it over filled.

Stick with it, it'll get better

I appreciate everyone's help! How long do you let is rest between draws, Kate? Long enough to just let it cool down, or is there maybe a count I should be doing in my head until I get used to the timing?

I was taking puffs on it pretty quickly. Not hotboxing, but about as fast as I smoke an analog cig. Probably going too fast. Thanks a lot everyone!

i was gonna reply directly, but kate said most of what i was going to, so ill add a little bit to it from my own newbie experience. you will dry out the end by drawing too much too fast, so just slow it down a little, not even minutes, just a few secs between puffs, unless you are straight drawing strong and hard...i dont do that, i more puff then inhale like a cigarette, just drawing longer than i would on a cig, like 3-4 secs, then wait 5-10 between drags. i also have something i noticed on filling...i can put 3-4 drops in the cartridge, take a few puffs, then remove and the liquid would "wick" down during that 1-2 minutes, and i could get another 3-4 drops in the cart! in other words, i can get twice as much juice in the cart by splitting the fill into 2 rounds a few mins apart. do not let it dry out, keep it somewhat filled, smoking it dry can kill the atomizer...i havent done that, but ive seen other posts of those who have.

I'm a total newbie but this is how i'm finding my 901 seems to work best.

I do a slow draw then i guess it's around a minute or so then i try again.

I have to admit, it is hard to put these things down :D.

If you got the same starter kit i did then you have enough carts to play with for a while. I am planning to get some more juice ordered on Friday so i should have it hopefully before the new year.
Katy got mine in the mail on Saturday morning and i had it yesterday, awesome shipping.

agreed, i dont think its a "problem". just some getting used to...like when i got off work after 4 hours of no cigs, id suck one down real fast, and ive done it like that with my 901 a couple times, it will dry out the end, and need to let it rest just a few seconds for the liquid to shimmy over, so i know what he means. in other words..stop smoking faster than liquid can flow :)

Thanks everyone for all the great tips. However, I went back to one of the carts I opened and tried earlier today (which I got about 2 puffs on and then went "dead"). When I opened it, I could see the top of the wick was wet with the liquid. However, still nothing when I tried to use it. I am not sure what is going on here. It's not a defective e-cig, because the batteries and atomizer work great when I drip. I actually kind of like dripping, since one good drop for me is about .75 of a cig it seems. I know that I will need to buy some back-up atomizers if I do that, though.

Does anyone know a good place in the USA to buy DSE-901b atomizers from? Katy is sold out at the moment. Does the "b" at the end of 901 just stand for "black"? If so, it really doesn't matter to me what color they are. I would not turn down a good deal on atomizers if they are just a different color. Thanks all!

when i first refill a cart, and they are a bit "overly" wet, it can take a few drags(as much as 5 or 6) to get it going again. but i still take my time and not rush it as to not overheat the atomizer. ive learned being patient with it has been paying off a lot, hehe. but big new fills seem to need a little warming up, you may be experienceing this.also, ive seen many people say atomizers take a few days to "break in". im only 2 days in, so im not sure if mine is broken in, lol.

Yes, b means black.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I found out what it was. All the carts that were included as extras with my kit were dry, so I just did not know what they where supposed to look like. I thought they were supposed to look like a semi-wet cotton ball inside. After opening up the ones that were included inside my actual DSE-901 box, I saw that they were much more wet inside. Now when I have been topping off the carts, I get them that wet and they work great.
