SVD 2.0 with Aerotank mega on Left, Seven 22 with Aspire Atlantis Mega on the right.

I've been using APV'S combined with tanks like the Aspire Nautilus, protank's & Aerotank Mega for a couple of years now. I love my SVD 2.0 and mostly vape that with my Aerotank or nautilus at 1.5 - 1.8 ohm coils, which works great. But I've been wanting to try something new, & sub ohming has been at the top of my list, so I bought the Atlantis Mega tank & paired it with my Seven 22 mod. And oh my, something just isn't right. Am I missing a drip tip or something (silly question, I know...forgive me). Or am I just not ready for sub ohming? The mod is reading the ohms on the Atlantis at 1.0 with this particular coil. I've been running the mod at 22 watts (the highest it'll go). I'm just not getting any vapor and OMG, the hit is so harsh and so strong it hurts & chokes me every time, like really chokes me. Not to mention the horrible taste. I've adjusted both air flow holes, and the wattages and can't get it to make any difference. I'm going to be so bummed if I just paid this much for a tank that I can't use at all. Help!

you may also want to use a .5 ohm coil 22watts is a bit low for a 1 ohm coil

?

They are mathematically an inverse relationship. A 0.5ohm coil needs twice the power of a 1.0 ohm coil.

Let's look at Ohm's Law: P = v^2 ÷ r

For a 1 ohm coil: P = 4.2^2 ÷ 1 = 17.46W

For a 0.7 ohm coil: P = 4.2^2 ÷ 0.7 = 25.2W

For a 0.5 ohm coil: P= 4.2^2 ÷ 0.5 = 34.92W

Did you properly prime your coil head before vaping on it?

Also, vaping at 1Ω isn't considered sub ohming.
Yes, I let juice sit for a good hour before even trying it out. That was my thought as well. I've just left in standing up in the case now for since I got it (3 or 4 days now) hoping that might help. So it's definitely primed.

On the 1.0 ohm...I actually just realized that I never checked the coil itself to be sure it really is 1.0 [emoji54] So I might should do that lol! I just assumed my mod was gauging it correctly. But as we all know, that isn't always the case [emoji19] . Whatever came pre-installed in the Atlantis is what I'm using. I didn't buy any extra's so I only the 1 other coil to try, & it its below 0.3, my mod won't fire it anyway. The lowest my mod will fires is at .05. Now that I'm pretty sure most Atlantis kits come with one 0.3 & one 0.5 included in the kit. I just thought mine must have been the higher omh kit or something. I just hate to dish out more dough on coils when I'm already getting afraid maybe the sub ohming thing just isn't for me. Which would really suck bc I'm a flavor ..... [emoji6]! I've been wanting to up my flavor quality for a while now. Hence the recent shopping binge lol. I've read a ton of reviews that this tank is good 1 for folks not into rebuildables & looking for a step up in the flavor & and overall vape quality.

Thanks for this! I was trying to remember the correct ohm resistance I needed considering my highest wattage mod only goes to 22w. So according to your chart below your post (ohms law), I should be totally fine with .5 omhs (if that in fact what's in there)? I just dropped a ton of $ on 2 new mods and this tank so I know I can not go buying another, higher wattage mod lol. My typical preference with my non sub ohm tanks (nautilus, aerotank, protank,) is around 7 to 8, 9 at the highest (otherwise it gets that yucky burnt taste). And from all I've heard & read over the last year or 2 is that you're supposed to get a much better, more pure flavor sub ohming.

Just re-read your post and see that you are looking for more flavor. Try a Kayfun, best flavor I have tried. Many people say it's old technology, but to me the flavor can't be beat. I do "mouth to lung" inhales, and the Kayfun is the perfect atomizer for me.

Well, your 0.5 ohm coil would like more like 35W. So if yourmod only goes to 22W, I would stick with the 1 ohm coils. You can see the 1 ohm coil would run around 17.5W. Try running it around 17.5W and see if it tastes better.

Pretty sure the resistance and wattage relationship would also depen on the gauge wire inside the coil used to obtain the resistance. just using figurative numbers if you used 28awg around 1.5mm and it took 10 wraps to get to 1 ohm then using the same gauge with the same 1.5 id at 5 wraps would give you .5 ohms. same wattage applied to both the .5 would draw more amps but should actually get hotter which would produce more vapor.

A higher resistance coil needs more voltage to produce the desired wattage output. The lower resistance coil will use more amperage but requires less voltage to produce the desired wattage. So if we assume that the AWG wire is the same and only the length of the wire is different then you need less voltage to apply 22watts to the .5 than you do the 1.0

You dont need to use sub-ohm coils to get more flavor, you need to learn to optimize your builds and buy tanks that are actually geared toward flavor and not cloud chasing. There is no point at where one is 'ready for subohming' like its some goal that we all need to reach. Its a means to achieve a specific end powerwise for some people, its not anywhere close to the status quo of where vapers need to ultimately end up.
