HCigar King Clone...Did I Get Ripped Off?

I received what was supposed to be a hcigar King clone mod today, but I'm not sure that it is in fact a hcigar. I got it from an Ebay seller that stated specifically that that was what it is. It came in a small WHITE box that says nothing on it but "MOD". I have seen that the hcigar mods come in 2 different boxes, but they are BLACK and I'm pretty sure they both say HCigar (I know the larger one does).

Does anyone know if what I have is probably what it should be? If it is another brand, should I be concerned and contact the seller? I have seen and heard that the HCigar clones are about the best out there and that's what I thought I was buying. Thanks!

Hmmm ... I can't swear by it, but I believe that I recently read a discussion about variances in the HCigar box colors. Well you are right in that HCigar makes the best quality clones on the market, so I totally understand why you would be ...... for not getting one.

If no one else answers here, I would suggest going over to Fasttech and search King mechanical mod, and then go to the discussion section directly from the listing. You have a very good chance of getting answers there, its a very active forum, and the members are die hard about their clone knowledge, and who manufactures which clone.

I want to say that it's from hcigar.. I'm not sure about the boxes because I've seen clones come in white brown and black boxes..

Thanks! I have noticed that the etching isn't deep at all. It almost feels like a rough paint. The locking ring isn't reverse threaded either. I'm reading that it should be...

My Hcigar King is not reverse threaded, and I know it is from Hcigar. Don't worry so much, just start using it and decide if you like the way it performs. If it has silver contacts and feels like a solid construction, it is more than likely a genuine Hcigar copy of a copy!

P.S. I have several Hcigar clones and none of the etchings are deep. Feels like you could scratch them off with your fingernail, but you can't!! LOL

That really sounds like a FT clone. I am not sure who makes them though. It very well could be HCigar. THey do make a variety of items for FT.

But hey, I get ya - the Hcigar stuff is pretty darn close to the authentic ones and I guess I would feel the same way. BTW, I have an FT King clone on its way LOL. If you don't figure it out I'll let you know what mine comes in.

Ahahahaha ... so true, the irony! But, like you said, HCigar makes the best quality clones, as does EHpro, so if your gonna buy a clone, why not get the best! I hear Tobecco is stepping up their game, and Rainbow Heaven has a good rep for the most part .. there is also a new kid on the block (at least to me) Cigreen. Saw a US vendor selling various clones made this manufacturer.

Thanks for the input everyone! I realized when I posted this thread that it did sound odd thinking that I had a clone of a clone. I just don't like companies passing something off as what it is really supposed to be. The overall fit and finish seem to be good. I will try it out today when by batteries arrive and probably not contact the seller since I'm not sure if it is a HCigar or not. I guess I was just mainly wondering if they did ever come in white boxes and if that was a sure way to know if they were HCigar or not.

hCigar does NOT sell to Fasttech.
It has been posted repeatedly on fT forums.
My FT king came in a black simple box marked MOD.

You lost me there.
It would make sense, as fast tech sells more mechs than any other retailer on the planet.

They don't sell to FT because fast tech doesn't observe the MSRP.

FT sells for a couple dollars over wholesale, making their money on bulk sales.
This can devalue a low production product.
HCigar doesn't want it's wholesale customers to have to compete with FT.



I suspect HOT Technologies makes the FT clone.
They make the nicer FT Nemmy clone.

Considering surefire knocked off the Chi you to make the original king, which sells for over $250 each I'd say surefire really doesn't have any room to talk.

I'm sure FT purchases directly from manufacturers. As you know, Ninja, Hcigar is not a manufacturer. They are a wholesaler.

Fastech is just a china amazon that doesn't go by msrp as given by the manufacturer.

Mech mods in a whole are relatively the same thing, there is nothing groundbreaking about a new mech as the only things that will differ are the design, quality and contacts. There is no new chip or anything that makes you say "now THAT is the mod of the century". I am a big fan of mechs but some people think there are these huge differences between mechs when there really isn't.

On topic- 90% sure that you have a Ft clone (not terrible btw). As long as the button works, threads work and it fits a battery then all is good! But just based off of how you explain it..it sound like a ft clone
