True.
But I was thinking, even if one couldn't find a 3S that would fit, we also have the ability to put a 2S in there now.

The bad part, IMO, with trying to fit something else in there...is a user might have to use a crap brand.

According to at least several known RC hobbiests, Zippy brand is one of the single WORST packs to use cuz they have a very high failure rate and when they fail, they don't just stop taking a charge....they EXPLODE.

Turnigy is another "iffy" brand....

The cell maker that Evolv used for their packs is called Fullymax. This is the exact same cell pack that was used in Evolv's beta prototype:

Fullymax 11.1v 3S 900mah 30C lithium polymer battery pack | Protovapor.com

This is the only known USA supplier that has this pack, but Fullymax has quite a large variety. The problem is locating what you'd need....and have it be a high-quality pack.

Evolv's statement on this issue:

Now this next point may not be popular, but I will make it anyway. We will do our damndest to support all genuine dna containing devices, regardless of country of origin. Can someone in this country who has built their mod making business on support give the best customer experience? Unquestionably.

That's definitely good news. :)

shipping costs from austria to wherever they are and back are most likely around 50% of the mods price.

Your warranty would be handled through the vendor where you bought it. The vendor would then get a replacement from Hcigar.

But the vendor has to show Hcigar proof of how much they're selling your VT200 for before Hcigar will cover the warranty.

You can not get this thing in Austria anywhere. And even if you do, you will pay 1,5x the price. So I pay a 50% premium and then have to pay 10-20% shipping costs to get it repaired and already spent 70-80% of the mods price compared to anywhere else or already 130% compared to china. Hence, buy it in china, throw away, buy it again.

This is no joke, I am not stupid, that is the truth. There is a world outside US/UK and maybe Canada and the truth is that stuff is ridiculously overpriced or not available and even if it is available they won't do something about warranty.

edit: damn autocorrect.. but = buy...

Evolv has stated that they will warranty the chip.

This ^^^

I've never put any stock in any warranty from a Chinese company. Most U.S. retailers I've had to deal with are equally bad. I am very impressed with how evolv has been handling any issues, user error or not, with the DNA 200 boards and unless that changes I have no hesitation to buy a completed mod with a genuine DNA 200 inside it. In my mind, warranty or not, any problem would include either a perpetual email argument with the assembler and distributor, or a fast simple RMA for the board from evolv. Hcigar can keep their worthless warranty. At $117 a pop I'll be ordering two of them if that price holds and someone actually has them in stock ready to ship.

Good luck, cuz it won't be Gearbest....or anybody else for that matter.

You won't even see that price in a Co-Op.

I'm a bit more optimistic. It may take a few months. It wasn't much more than a few months ago that a decent 40 Watt TC box mod cost close to $200. Now closer to $50. I can see a mass produced Chinese manufactured DNA 200 based box mod close to a hundred bucks by Christmas.

Trust me, there's no vendor anywhere that's gonna sell it at a loss.

And unless they're buying 500+, you're not gonna see anything close to $120.

Most vendors will buy 100 of them, maybe even less? And they'll be paying $120 for the device and freight, add in import duties and taxes, payment costs and other expenses and you're looking at $125 - $130. That's just what the vendor will be paying....

It's very unlikely, though not impossible, that you'll see anybody selling them retail for under $169.....unless they bought a crapload of them and have no intention of doing business with Hcigar again.

Cuz Hcigar is actively trolling the net and looking at vendor sites and checking to make sure they're in compliance....and it's why spots like Gearbest's pre-order offer is now gone.

They're not the only ones that got caught....

And FWIW....the VT40 is still at or above $100 and probably will never see $50.

Lowest I've seen it yet was a spot-sale at Gearbest for $98.

Are you running a coop for them?

You'll need to be a veteran host in order to qualify.

Well a few minutes ago you assured me I'd never get a decent price and now you're already asking about coops. How about I get the price and MOQ and you run the coop?

I already showed you what prices to expect....that wasn't a guess, but it was a fairly accurate estimate.

It's not 20, trust me.

I already got MOQ of 30. You're right, it's not 20. It is 30. Still waiting on price at that quantity. You might be right but I don't get why you are so negative. Are you a vendor trying to justify what you anticipate retailing them for or what's your deal?

The genie is out of the bottle. A retailer had them listed at $117 until the manufacturer told them they weren't allowed to sell that low. Obviously they would have made a profit at that price. The only reason they haven't taken several hundred pre-orders at that price is because the manufacturer told them not to or else.
