The screw-off button cover isn't a big deal, but there again...could've been made better.

I agree that the screw on button cover isn't an issue at all. Vapin Fagan doesn't appear to have an understanding of how buttons work with the DNA200; they shouldn't be "glued". The issue with the mushy feeling is due to the fact that VapeCige didn't get their board mount spacing and button depth correctly matched; the way to alleviate that on this mod would be to remove the buttons and sand them down .2mm-.5mm or so. VapeCige needs to revisit their button depth or standoff height. There is no way the buttons should be mushy. My buttons on my 3D printed DNA200 designs are a joy to click; there's no excuse for a mod manufacturer getting this wrong on a mass produced production device.

The 510 is simply unforgiveable; that alone makes it junk.

Slightly disappointing, but at $120, I won't be cancelling my pre-order.

I didn't think for a moment it was a premium product, and as a modder, mixing up a drop of epoxy is practically something I look forward to.

I still really like the look of the device, and if I was building my own, I wouldn't have minded buying this enclosure, but I could well have been put off by the inability to bolt the 510 in place.

I'm starting to think they would have been better off selling this in kit form. They might have avoided the .... storm I think they have coming their way :w00t:

EDIT: Just saw this on UKVapers...

Also, a user on AAE-C states...
Just received an email back from Angelfire after I had sent them the link to the video, they have said they have been in contact with Vapecig to request assurances that all the issues shown in the video are corrected before dispatch, and they have confirmed they will be.

So it seems all is not lost just yet :)

That statement was published waaaaay back in April, but yet a rep told the reviewer to just glue it back in place.

Tight pressfit = unstable 510

Unless it's bolted or screwed onto the frame, it just isn't gonna hold.

They'd be better off drilling two countersunk holes into the recessed area of the 510 and using flathead screws to secure it.

Guys please! Its HCigar VT200 topic. Peeps starts mixing these two allready.

Sorry about that, found my way here via a google search, didn't realise what thread I was in.

Yeah, wtf is up with that!?

Can't say that I can think of any other mods that have a press fitted 510 right now, but I'd like to think it can be done well.

Modders have been using glue for years without issue, so if that was done right, it wouldn't bother me either.

It'll work right up the the point of lateral stress on the 510. Something like dropping it would certainly do it, pop that sucker right out.

Does anyone know if HC uses glue in their production of VT200?

After watching VapinFagan quick look on the disastrous VTBox200, I felt fortunate enough to have cancelled my pre-order. From the looks of it even if Vape Cige were to provide statement on improving the later batch of productions I doubt that they can actually change much to the 510 connection and buttons. This mod is not going to last that's for sure.

Also I am really disappointed that Evolv can still supply their chips to such a lousy manufacturer, Evolv need to bear some of the responsibility too.

Now I am rather worry about HC's production, VT40 had some flaw like the C frame not tightly fitted and I wonder if VT200 have what kind of shortcomings.

I am not sure why you would hold Evolv responsible for what another company does with their hardware. Do you hold Google responsible for bad phones that are sold on FastTech, or Microsoft for some crappy laptop?

Evolv just sells a chip and the software within it(and now Escribe). Whatever a mod maker wants to do with the chip is their business.

It is patently unfair to place any blame for VapeCige's poor design choices on Evolv. Evolv are not involved in the design of end product, even where they partner with the manufacturer (i.e. Innokin on the SVD 2.0).

The VT200 is a 2-piece design and separates almost in the middle, just behind the 510 connector. There are two screws up top (and probably the bottom) that hold the two pieces together.

The black line in the image below shows where the two pieces separate.

I know this thread is about the VT200 but i see a lot of talk about the VTbox200 so i just wanted to chime in about my quick look video.

Vape Cige contacted me about a month or so ago talking about there new DNA200 mod and asked if i would be interested in reviewing it. I said sure! Well they finally contact me last week and said they shipped it and to please review it and give them the link once the review is finished, Ok not a problem..

I received the red/black one ( i have only seen the white/black one) i decided to do a "Quick Look" video on the device simply because i know a lot of people were interested in this device and there are many pre-orders going on for it, So i knew people wanted to see it.. I usually only do "quick looks" on popular products and then the review usually will follow 1-2 weeks later..

Anyways... After using it for 5 minutes i removed my RDA and the entire 510 connection came off, I applied no force or anything to it, It just popped off..It had very little glue around the 510 connection and the box itself.. I was rather shocked someone would glue a 510 connection down..

Well during the first look, The magnets on the door all just fell off, Then the button housing/ring (the ring that holds the button down inside the mod) started to unscrew.. I am not sure if the housing/ring (not sure what its called) is suppose to be glued into place or not, I assume it would need to be to prevent spinning off, Also to prevent the ring from getting loose and the button falling out. Another thing that worried me that i did not include in the video is that the lipo battery is a VERY VERY tight fit.. Also the DNA board is protected and covered by some type of clear vinyl tape that is used for electronics, Which i think could have been done better. Usually the chip is covered by a plastic or aluminum cover.

Anyways.. Once the video went live Vape Cige contacted me and said all i needed to do was to super glue the 510 connection.. I told them a glued-in 510 connection was a horrible design and why would they do such a thing. Anyways, after talking with them for about 20-30 mins they informed me that the White/Black version (the one that is on every website) does not have this issue and that the White/Black version has a press-fit 510 connection and the version being sent to vendors and being sold was the white/black version with the press-fit 510.

They asked if i could remove my video because they were getting contacted by various people in regards to these issues and that nobody had to worry because the version they would receive would in fact have a press-fit 510 (still a bad design if you ask me)

Ok well if they knew it had these issues then why did they send the red/black version? or why did they not contact me and tell me this? That makes no sense.. Its not a pre-production unit, That much i made sure of. It was a design flaw that only 200 units had.

I told them that i would not remove my video for any reason because i am simply showing the product that "I" received. They guaranteed me that the white/black version does not have these issues and that they were sending me the "corrected" device.

So i said once i recieve the corrected device and had PROOF the issues were taken care of that i would record another quick look and that i would verify and let everyone know that the problems have or have not been fixed and i would make notes on my previous video.

The statement that they released that everyone sees is dated back to April, Which once again, Makes no sense? They knew this problem was out there, So why did they send these units for review? Also, they say that if you receive a bad unit, They will replace it at no charge to you... Well i thought this issue was only with the first 200 units? So why would anyone get any bad units?

If they have simply said, We are sending a pre-production unit or the unit we sent has issues, just wait for the updated version, I would have done just that but they said review it..

With all that said, Something seems strange about the construction of the mod and Vape Cige's statements.. Once i receive the white/black version i will make another video updating everyone..

Also, I am not sure if it has been said yet here but the HCigar VT200 does have a 1300mah 30c 11.1v Lipo battery..
