Char,
With my system it doesn't always default to the default directory. So to save my sanity I just down load everything to the DeskTop. After I am thru with it I file it to a directory of my choice manually.

By the way on my system the directory you mention was split into ... firmware\DNA200 and firmware\DNA75. Probably a good idea to keep that strategy going. Loading a DNA200 update to a dna 75 is probably a good way to brick a new device.

Yup that's right two directories DNA200 and DNA75. You have to show hidden files to see the entire path. You can do it anyway you want.

TrollDragon,

Please tell me you know how Hcigar is doing the vertical buttons? I don't have the nerve to tear mine apart to see. The Evolv DNA 75 has horizontal buttons so how is Hcigar doing vertical buttons.

holman, just think of the satisfaction of opening up your device and finding out first hand and first person how the buttons are configured:sneaky:. you'll be the bees knees around here. just make sure to post pics:pop:!

edit....i'm going with vertical buttons. hcigar probably ordered enough boards to warrant any configuration of the buttons.

Atmizr,

I am gullible but not that gullible. :)

Yeah I have been thinking that they had them built the way they wanted also. The only thing that keeps me from buying in on that is I am starting to think they used their own buttons (off board). They are not mushy like the Evolv buttons (no offense to Evolv). The buttons on my VT 75 are REALLY clicky and almost impossible to accidentally fire. They just don't feel like the buttons on any other DNA device I own.

i know when VS requested dna 200 boards from evolv they requested it have two amp charging (there is no daughter board in the VS DNA 200), led's surrounding the fire button, a side mounted ZIF connector (makes more sense being side mounted when having a bottom mounted screen) and completely different buttons (great tactile feel and feedback) from that of the "retail" dna 200 board.

hcigar could of asked for the same or similar style tactile buttons mounted vertically. they're already changing button orientation for hcigar, so a different style button would be a reasonable request.

That is interesting. If VS can do it surely Hcigar is big enough to get whatever they want.

In any case I like the tactile feel of the Hcigar VT75 buttons that's for sure.

I like both styles, but these are my first DNAs.
That's some serious squishiness on the 133's fire button... but I like it as well. :D

All of my budget mods, from D2 through all the modern JTechs are so similar, these are a nice change of pace. :)

Sorry I don't know.
There might be some sort of actuator plate under the case buttons, that would allow them to push the board switches from a vertical layout. My guess is that it is a custom board built for HCigar.

Troll,
I had thoughts about some mechanical switch interface also but decided that wouldn't have been very cost effective.
So for now I search YouTube every few days for some reviewer like 'Daniel' that always does a tear down but no luck yet.

You're probably right, there's zero slop or rattle from rockers or actuators on mine.

I would have doubted the probability of a custom design but for the VS example.

A rocker plate would be an easy thing to injection mold. If you do find a tear down please post the link, I will do the same.

That is what made me think of an plate under the switches, the VT75 has a narrow front that is thicker than the VT133's in relation to the USB opening. I have also noticed there is a little rattle on the fire button, but none on either of the switches buttons.

Troll,

If I find a tear down I will definitely post the link.

Your comment about the USB port got me to looking. You are correct the USB port is definitely recessed in relation to the button levels. I probably would never have noticed that if you hadn't mentioned it.

Ok, a bit off topic but which chip set am I missing here:

    27757696100_a87ef0f73d_z.jpg

(the 7-22 was included strictly as a 26650 mod, it is VW only)

I know that Sigelei has a 26650 mod (no TCR - a show stopper) and P4U has a yet to be released "Yaris" on their website. (hopeful for user adjustable TCR) The VF "Stout" has a Joytech chip. (likely similar to the Presa already shown)

    What else is out there?
