Heads and Ohm Readings

Ok so I am new to all this. I don't know what everything is called so if I mess up please disregard and feel free to correct me.

So I have been trying my hand at rebuilding my coils. I have all my supplies and all different kinds of wicking material. The complete rebuilds have not gone into a tank yet because I am having trouble with my testing. I have just been changing the wicks in the stock heads.

My question today is that I pulled a brand new protank head out of the package. Put it on a base (I use my old evod bases as testers and as dry burn bases on my ego battery, so they are in my supply box and easily accessible) and screw it on my new tester I got in the mail today. Now it is supposed to read 1.8 or I expected it to be close at least. It read 4.55. Could this machine be reading it in something different that ohms? I know, I know, I am buying my first mod friday (yay! itaste mvp) and that should read them exactly but until then I would like to be able to do something with this machine I bought!!

Thanks in advance

Holly Jo

Also...

Cut a length of kanthal, say 3 inches, look up what the resistance SHOULD be... don't even coil it... just push it into the machine and see what reading you get... post back here the gauge of the wire, the length and the reading. Someone will reply back [probably pretty quick], if you haven't just looked up what the resistance should be...

I have tried on different heads, bases, tanks, etc. I only buy 1.8 coilsnand even with liquid they should not be over 2.20. So I know its definately the machine. Could it just be "challenged" and reading volts or even watts? Its fresh batteries and everything. Tried all I could think of before posting!! Very strange, I know!
