My apologies for having doubted CASAA. After a little digging, it looks like this bill has passed the Senate. Apparently, the bill was "hotlined", which means it can be passed by unanimous consent without being voted on. That's about all I know right now. The only people I've seen talking about it are Paul Blair and some people on Reddit.

Per the Senate Bill (which I have Little Doubt will pass the House), 120 Days after the President Signs it.

I'm pretty sure the President will sign it in it's current form. But there is always Uncertainty with this President.

Doing the Math, 120 Days goes out to Late October/Early November. Which is well past September 9th. So we'll be in the PMTA era by then.

I don't understand.…Wouldn't this then be the right time for a call to action urging Trump's veto? As was done here in FL with Desantis? This Act is about the most repressive insult imaginable particularly as pertains to the most financially disadvantaged smokers and vapers. Absolute torture really for the poor. Seems our establishment politicians are in the most destructive trade imaginable these days…screwing Americans.

Good luck all. :)

It's been amazingly quiet since the Senate passed this bill. Nothing about it from CASAA, or the vaping news websites, and very little on Twitter. Trump needs to be reminded that We Vape We Vote.

I'm thinking Trump will probably sign the bill though. It seems like Mitch McConnoll wouldn't have let it pass if he thought it would get vetoed.

I'm also surprised by CASAA's silence on the subject.

I get regular updates from VTA; this is the latest:

"SENATE PASSES EFFECTIVE ONLINE E-CIGARETTE BAN IN PACT ACT
Yesterday, the Senate passed S. 1253 – dubbed Preventing the Online Sales of E-Cigarettes to Youth Act – a bill that would effectively prohibit online sales of e-cigarettes and would outright prohibit the United States Postal Service from delivering vapor products. This bill, driven by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), places e-cigarettes into the Preventing All Cigarette Trafficking Act of 2009 (PACT) Act.

Forcing e-cigarettes into the PACT Act is a simplistic concept that is antiquated, unnecessary, and completely out of step with the times. First, the bill’s “signature on delivery” requirement will require contact during every delivery at a time when the nation’s online sales model is now “contact-less” delivery to protect against COVID-19. Second, those fortunate to still have jobs are working harder than ever to make ends meet, and first and second shift workers don’t have the time to drive to stores during business hours, nor the ability to sit at home waiting to sign for a delivery of their vapor products. Third, hard pressed Americans can’t absorb the exorbitant cost of an additional $6.00 per transaction just to have the product delivered to their door, assuming any common carriers will even continue to deliver.

VTA’s team in D.C. has been continually working the issue to maintain channels of commerce for quitting smokers. Now we turn our attention to the House.

Bottom line: Smokers who are desperately trying to quit, or former smokers that have quit, should not be limited in accessing vapor products."

Preventing the Online Sales of E-Cigarettes to Youth Act

They mock us and have since the Federal Cigarette Labeling and Advertising Act in '65. Then it was all about truth in advertising. What a pathetic joke.

Good luck. :)

@kristin, I keep getting call to action type emails from the CASAA Legislative Team wanting me to email my Senators about S.1253. The last one I got(this morning) said the bill might be brought to a vote on the Senate floor within an hour. This seems really odd.

1. You haven't posted anything here about it.
2. I don't see anything a CASAA's facebook page.
3. Congress.gov doesn't show any action on the bill since April of 2019.

Do you know anything about this?

.
We just updated the Call to Action and I've been getting it out on social media today (was just coming to do it on ECF when I saw your message.) We've been working on it for a few days, but there was a question that had to be answered as to where it would go next (back to the House or to Trump) and we had to wait until it was finally updated on congress .gov before we could complete the Call to Action and get it out to members.

VAPE FACTS:
ANTZ try to credit WI 2009 public use ban for adult smoking drop from 20% to 16% and ignore any possible link with adult vaping going from <1% to 5% during same time period, with many saying they tried vaping BECAUSE of the ban! #QuitLying

HAWAII: (UPDATE)
HB 2457, a statewide FLAVOR BAN, now moves back to legislature. Reporter trots out old "adolescent brain damage" (in RATS) and again conflates nicotine vaping w/ lung injuries caused by illicit THC vaping (nothing to do with flavors.)

BAD VAPE POLICY:
Gas station/convenience store association unsurprisingly backs law that will ELIMINATE major competition from online sales, yet a newer 2019 study shows 53.1% youth reported buying JUUL from a gas station/convenience store. #QuitLying

CHICAGO, IL: (UPDATE)
Good news! Flavor ban STALLED in City Council committee after "running into an avalanche of opposition." But MORE VAPE ADVOCATES also need to "show up in force" next time, as many retailers seemed willing to throw vaping under the bus!

I just did the CTA, though I doubt it will do much good. When this goes to the President, we should all call the White House switchboard again.
