I quit smoking regular cigarettes on Jan. 6th, 2014. I have been using a vaporizer for 5 months. Just went to dr. and received a perfect health screening! Last blood test showed borderline high cholesterol and they put me on medicine that I had to quit due to side effects. That was in 2012. Last screening my bad cholesterol was 130, now it is only 91 and total level is 189! I have done nothing new but quit smoking and switch to vapor! I am so excited and feel so much better. I smoked for 25 years and this has been a life changing event. The clean bill of health at recent dr. appt. is just icing on the cake! Glad I found an alternative to smoking as I have tried to quit many, many times using every replacement and medicine out there. I hope the anti-ecig people read these threads before making big decisions on how bad they think ecigs are! Anyone else have health benefits after quitting smoking and using vapor?

Hi mhick and welcome to ECF. I've been vaping for a bit over two years and my doctor approves now :)

Don't know if anyone is going to notice these threads, but I'm not going back to smoking any time soon. Join CASAA (see my sig below), it's free and gives us more of a voice with the folks that count. Contribute if you can, but it's not required.

Vape on mhick :)

Congrats on staying off the stinkies for 5 months and welcome to the ECF!

I have been smoke free now for 16 days and my lungs thank me tremendously for it. I'm hoping I can either reduce the strength of or stop taking my blood pressure medicine altogether one day. I'm also on cholesterol med's so maybe quitting smoking will help me in that regard as well.

Congrats and welcome!

I'm also coming up on the 5 month mark, and where last year this time I couldn't walk a block without getting winded I've been hiking a minimum of 4 miles in hilly terrain twice this spring so far without having to stop to catch my breath. After an initial weight gain (ooops) I also find that vaping my "treats" makes me not eat them often, a good thing for the weight and cholesterol level.

Now if only someone would make a sour cream and onion potato chip flavored juice I'd be set. :D

Hi, mhick, and welcome to ECF!

Congrats on 5 months. Great choice. And happy to say, your med results aren't that uncommon. Yepper, a bonus. Your dental hygenist may notice improvement as well :)

I definitely have to agree with the dental hygenist part. No more stains. I take pride in my teeth and breath now.
