Went to my Endo last week and had some bloodwork done. I was concerned because that even though I've started running and lost some weight I've been vaping quite a bit and nicotine is supposed to increase blood glucose levels. Well, the numbers are in and after 14 years of being 'almost in control' I've finally managed to get below 7.0 on my A1c test, a full 1/2 point lower than my last test. Go Me! :2cool:

Thanks all for the kind words.

The A1c is a blood test to measure the average glucos levels over a short period of time, 2-3 months. The lower numbers are better. A non-diabetic will see test results ranging from 4.0 up to 6.0 but diabetics are much higher and the target range to get down to can be age dependent. For someone my age, breathing is a good sig...er, anything below 7.0 is good.

Justagirl, I wish you the best of luck with your daughter. (I was going to offer some advice, but I'm sure you've heard it all before. :D )

I used to smoke 3 pks of cigs daily, my A1c was 7.8 to 8.5. Different meds, watched what I ate and still couldn't get it down. Started vaping and my blood sugar in the morning went from 150 to 70-75 after a month of vaping. All other factors were the same. My last A1c was 6.1. I know that doesn't make much sense, but the only thing I can figure is those damn cigs had my system so stoved up it couldn't process the sugar in my system. Vaping has literally saved my life--Bo :toast:
