as far as my job goes it has started to suck pretty good. management has the view that they dont care what their employees have to do as long as they dont have to do it. they have no problem working people 70 hours per week for 2 months and then no overtime anytime else. they will require me to stay there by myself 4 hours after everyone else has gone home. i will be the only person in the building, there is chemicals, 160 degree water, risks of falling 20+ feet all of these things are present. they will then cut me out early later in the week so i dont get any overtime, so there is no benefit in staying at work late way past the shift. my co-worker once worked 16 hours, while the supervisor worked less then 8. he told my co-woker to have a nice day and left him by himself for 7 hours. i call it the country club, management doesnt give a damn what we have to do so long as they do not have to do it. it doesnt matter how busy it is or how backed up things get, the supervisor will stick his head out and complain about it, he will do NOTHING to help. this place needs a union
we also have a person the management that is a drunk, appently she even comes to work with hang-overs. apparently this is acceptable behavior.
as far as the vaping things go if companies proposed to do this back in the 1920's and told people that they were going to get charged more in their health insurance because they THINK that smoking MIGHT be bad for them. that would not have gone over very well their probably would have been protest and riots. basically this is what has been said about vaping, we think it might be bad for you therefore we will charge you more money or make you go through a ridiculous program. our society has become soft skinned and has allowed both the government and the large corps to control every aspect of our lives i hate it. the minute they tell us that we are going to have random piss tests is the minute i find another job. they currently do not test randomly but i would not put it past them. why do we have to submit to a body search for activities within the last 30 days in order to get a job. i red somewhere someone just invented a "marijuana breathalyzer". that i support, something that detects if you are buzzed while at work and only has a detection window of 4 hours for example
