I have been noticing concerns voiced over certain flavorings in some threads. I am opening this thread so that more knowledgeable people than myself could state their understanding of the issue. What is fact, what is general consensus, what is conjecture and what is totally unfounded rumor.

I realize there have been many threads dealing with all or part of this issue, but i am not good at searching ECF, and i think it would be helpful to some if all health issues related to different flavors could be gathered in one thread. Not that i am overly concerned mind you, but i would like to be able to make as informed a decision as possible.

All i know for a fact is that diacetyl is not meant to be inhaled.

I've steered clear of some flavors ( caramel or cinnamon sound so yummy!) but know they are popular and some vendors state they do not use any flavors with the "bad stuff" in them. It's easy to get off track searching, I end up reading things unrelated and forget what I searched to find out but always learn something! Maybe there are safe versions, I will watch to see what the experts say! Cinnamon is one I won't try. I made soap and candles, some scents are skin safe but all the cinnamon warned again using it in skin care products.... so if I can't get it on my hands, I want to keep it out of my lungs.

I'm not sure the science is as simple as that tbh. As in everything else, i reckon dosage is the key. Medicine in a certain dose, poison in a larger dose, and all that. Also, you could use the same reasoning to say if it harms my skin, i don't want it in contact with my tongue, esophagus, stomach and intestines either, but we all know cinnamon is being consumed by some on a daily basis with no ill effects.

But, if you feel it lessens your risk, that's all that matters !
