I've had 2 episodes of severe heartburn.
From previous visits to a DR (years ago while smoking analogs)- he said that among other things- Nicotine relaxes the flap at the bottom of you esophagus, allowing stomach acid to travel upward: which is heartburn. (And it is noticeably worse when you lie down.)
I have been taking a daily 'acid reducer' for years, but the two episodes occurred despite that.
I am a DIY juice person, I usually vape 18-20mg during the day. I recently made some 10mg juice and I have not had the problem. BUT, time will tell.

The comment about a small amount of e liquid being swallowed is also interesting, as there have been occasions where that has happened; I'll have to keep an eye out if that causes the heartburn.

Oh man, can I ever relate! I had acid reflux that just got worse for a while when I made the switch! If you take some Tums or over-the-counter Prilosec that will keep it at bay. It'll go away soon enough.

As a side note, every time I swallow just a little bit of juice I get the hiccups like none other!

Acid reflux feels like you've swallowed a volcano.

I occasionally get heartburn from vaping certain flavors, vaping too fast, too much coffee, drinking cooled down coffee, etc. I used to get it smoking too much and too fast as well.

What works great for me is Country Life's Cal Snack. It has less chemicals than Tums and works almost instantly and you can drink water with it to rinse your esophagus. One usually does the trick but if it's really bad I eat two. It's chewable and the taste is an orange-vanilla chalky flavor.

Whole Foods sells it at a hefty price but it's also found on line at various places. I just ordered it last week since it was on sale at this place.

Cal-Snack (chewable) from COUNTRY LIFE on sale. Find information about COUNTRY LIFE

I highly recommend this as a natural way to conquer it and get back to sleep ASAP. You get quick relief so you can be reassured you are not having a heart attack.

i had heartburn too when i quit smoking and started vaping, happy to say it went away after a week or two tho , as did the mouth ulcers, sore thought, and headaches . A lot of these symptoms i think were due to the quitting smoking rather than the vaping tho and like i say none of them lasted long and feel way better now for sticking with it :)
good luck

I had actually thought about asking this too. Although my experience with it is much more mild and never lasts more than a few minutes, nothing I can't live with I was ust curious (due to timing) if it was vaping related. I also think it's time to lower my nice I feel icky if I vape very much in a sitting. Almost like my body is wanting to wean itself off now...lol

Well I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with this issue. I've always had heartburn, but a lot more in the last several months since I started vaping.

This just begs another question though... why is vaping giving us heart burn? I really wish there had been like 50 years worth of studies on this before I started.

I'm kind of suprised (not to be indelicate) it doesn't give us gas. I would think we would swallow more air vaping than we did smoking. But someone mentioned earliers something about nicotine and the flap between the esophogas and the stomache...I think. It's on the 1st page of replies on this thread.

As has been said nicotine is a well known inducer of heartburn. No way around it except to lower the dosage or usage. As an aside for chronic heartburn sufferers like me, Prilosec is an almost 100% cure. The generics don't work, and you have to take it every day for the rest of your life, but the OTC drug is amazing.
