For the past few days I've been getting heartburn after taking a hit off my e cig. It doesn't last more than a few minutes, but it still concerns me.. At first I thought it could be because of the setup I had or the build because it started after I put a new coil together. I had my KF on my Nemesis with a 1.3 ohm or so coil and had just put in a fresh battery. I'm still trying to perfect wicking the KF so it's a much hotter vape and kind of burnt tasting with a fresh battery until the charge drops to around 3.7V, I do have kick coming in the mail so I will be able to use that until I get the wicking down properly. So last night I decided to try raising the resistance and built a 1.7 ohm coil, but I was still getting the heartburn after each hit. Then I decided to put my KF on my VV/VW Mod and dropped the Watts down to 6 (I normally run it at 10) but it continues to happen. It doesn't happen when I use my Nautilus though, which I find odd. I know the KF vapes a little hotter than others and if this could potentially be the cause, than I will most likely dump the KF for something else. If that's the case, what RBA's have a cooler draw?

I also wondered if it could be caused by the nicotine level, but it's the same level as the juice in my Nautilus, 12mg, I did also change the flavor in my KF thinking that could be a factor as well, but it didn't fix it. Does the nicotine level have a different effect when using a RBA over something like the Nautilus?

One last thing. I frequently bounce between my KF & Nautilus. Since I had switched my KF to my Variable Mod (heartburn isn't as harsh that way) I have my Nautilus on my Nemesis. Is having that on a mech mod ok? I don't want to prematurely kill my coil or cause any damage to my tank so I've been kind of hesitant to use it too much. I know I should probably just lay off my KF since that's the tank that's causing the heartburn, but these flavors complement each other so well, it's really hard to.

Thanks,

Matthew

a lot of posts here seem to indicate that when one switches to vaping various changes in ones digestive system might occur.from belching, better digestion, passing gas, heartburn.you'll also find once your sense of smell gets better your stuff really does stink.
some of what you inhale eventually will get in your stomach.your replacing all the chemicals from smoking with rather benign ingredients.
your stomach thinks its dinner time.try drinking water more occasionally.you might or might not have to increase your water intake, just drink the same amount spread out into more drinks.i have had the same thing happening and it seems to help.what flavors are you using?.some of the sweeter stuff has sugar in it.

mike

Thank you, I'll give that a try and hopefully it will resolve things

Well, I have been vaping since 2012 and I finally quit analogs this past January. I do try and drink as much water as possible, generally anywhere between 4-6 bottles a day. More if I drink a pop or energy drink that day.

I have had similar symptoms from certain flavors. Same nicotine content, same supplier, same clearomizer, same mod, different flavor. It seems that apple and peach flavors cause this sensation for me. I have found a new supplier for my e-liquid, but I have been hesitant to try these flavors due to my past experiences. Just yesterday I broke the apple back out and tried it after letting it sit in the drawer for a month. It seems to be a bit better, but big hits still create a heartburn like sensation.

How much is .09ml compared to analog?

Welcome to ECF dxaxrxc.

I'm guessing that you mean 9mg. of nicotine rather than .09ml. There are too many variables to come up with any sort of exact equivalence between juice strength and how it might compare to cigarettes in providing a satisfying amount of nicotine.

However, Dr. Farsalinos did a study, Nicotine absorption from electronic cigarettes that you might find helpful. It compares nicotine uptake from a cigarette to two different types of vaping devices, a cig-alike and a VW device paired with an Evod at 9 watts using 18 mg. eliquid.

dxaxrxc - You really shouldn't be concerned with cigarette equivalence. Some people who are light smokers seem to need a high amount of nicotine to be satisfied while some heavy smokers get nic sick on quite moderate levels of nicotine.

Instead pay close attention to what your body is telling you. If you crave cigarettes up your nic level or vape more frequently. If you start to get light-headed, dizzy, nauseous and/or get a gassy tummy cut back on the nicotine.

I have noticed some heartburn as well. I use the same setup, same nicotine levels only the flavors change. In my very limited experience I find the fruity/candy flavors my wife likes seem to cause this more than my vanillas or Carmels. I have been reading posts for the last few hours, enjoying a nice vanilla bean and decided to switch to sweet tart for a bit and give my tank a break. After a few pulls, have that unpleasant feeling in my gut and the back of my throat. Which by the way is a downer, because i really like something different from time to time.

First off, I want to make it clear that I am no doctor, nor do I have any medical training whatsoever, and that everything I am about to post I have read in forums and/or articles in the past. :headbang:

Phew, okay, now that is out of the way, here goes nothing...

Nicotine definitely affects our digestive system. Studies have shown that even small doses of nicotine in the blood can have adverse effects upon the way our bodies behave. When you smoke, our bodies not only absorbs nicotine, but also somewhere within the range of 4,000 different chemicals, including 60 known cancer causing agents. The amount of nicotine absorbed into our bloodstream from a standard light cigarette is very small, but paired with many different chemicals that is in cigarette smoke, stays in your blood for about 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, the average PAD smoker begins to feel the first effects of withdrawal; hence, why we start to crave another. Now, vaping differs because there are no 4,000 chemicals and tar that lingers around in the blood and lungs, and once nicotine is absorbed as an aerosol into our lungs, it doesn't take very long for the nicotine levels to drop back to normal, regardless of what mg we vape. This is one of the reasons a lot of us tend to "chain vape."

Another possible explanation for heartburn and acid reflux in vapers I have heard before is due from propylene glycol, i.e. PG. From what I have heard, propylene glycol may be related to or even contain glucose. I have no facts to base this on as it is just something I remember reading before, but some people who were glucose intolerant have claimed that after eliminating PG-based ejuice and switching to 100% VG-based, their acid reflux instantly went away. Again, I have no facts to back this up, but if you have some 100% VG ejuice lying around, it won't hurt to give it a shot and see for yourself.

Good luck to you! :vapor:

I can't tell you anything to help with your setup, or give any advice, since I only just got around to vv/vw vaping. But I can tell you that at certain times - and I haven't quitefigured it out myself - but I also get that sensation of heartburn while vaping. If I stop for a moment, or switch, it goes away but then in a while comes back.

I know that's not much help, but I'm kinda glad to know I'm not the only one that's gotten the sensation. I'd imagine, and mind you this is pure theory pulled from a magic hat, but I imagine, or feel like, that the more acidic the flavorings are, the more the body responds to said hot, acidic tasting juice (fruits and the like) and hence the sensation of heartburn. But I've no idea what flavors you're using, so my idea might just be squat, instead of a good two cents.

Good luck!

I definitely believe the others who have posted in this thread are onto the right path here. Nicotine content can absolutely be responsible for the heartburn. I also think flavors can sometimes upset particularly sensitive stomachs. Are you using any citrus-y type flavors? For me, I always used to get heartburn after vaping a juice that had a grapefruit type flavor to it. I suspect grapefruit was actually one of the ingredients. Citrus always sets off the heartburn for me!

I'm currently vaping Demeter's Harvest. It's a blend of 6 different fruits. I'm not sure exactly what fruits are in it, but it's delicious lol

If you smoke juice is 12mg of nic, for every ml you vape you get 12mg of nic which roughly equates to 6 analogs. If you have a 30ml bottle of 6th nic, the entire bottle contains 180 MG of nic equal to approx 90 analogs. That's if you smoke Cowboy Killers. l
Rarely eat dairy or sugar or anything with white flour in it as I have bad reflux. Sugar is lethal so the poster that mentioned that has so.ething...overall nic content can cause it too...
