Just wanted to pass along something that is helping me alot. One of the reasons I started to look for ways to quit analogs is that I was getting bad reflux/heartburn/gerd. I was even getting it when I cut back to 5 analogs with the help of vaping.

Now I'm having great success with Omeprazole w/bicarbonite, it's a generic brand, not sure what the real stuff is called. But it's only once a day dosage.

I've seen it on the shelves. It has a funny name like Zegarid?

Thanks for posting about it. I get some relief from the regular Omeprazole but would gladly try the super improved version:) Just watch for tingly feet and fingers. All the stomach meds can cause B12 deficiency.

Yes, it's ZEGERID/W/SODIUMBICARBONITE. Tx for the info about the B-12, guess I'll get some. My last dose of the 14 days is tomorrow, hope I have a better time now. It was Really bad, and it continued even when I started vaping and cut down to 5 analogs a day.

Oh, it took about 2 days till it took effect- but it's great!

Thanks for the info. I am always on the look out for a good heart burn remedy. Of course if I cut the coffee way down I most likely wouldn't have a problem. Just have to find out if it interfers with my meds.

Yeah, you're right with the coffee, I'm the same way- but I was trying to blame it on the analogs, lol. I might have to try some of that coffee additive stuff. It's sad, I'm vaping coffee AND drinking coffee!

I have miserable acid reflux. Once upon a time, I used to laugh at people who said they had it... "You're just trying to give a fancy name to heartburn." Now, I consider it what Hell is going to be like. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week of misery.

All the standard remedies help a bit, but not much. However, if I combine Nexium or Prilosec with a small dose of Xanax three times a day, it's like I never had GERD. My doctor's view: if that's what it takes, then that's what it takes. She has a more technical explanation, but I was pretty miserable at the time she explained it and I'll have to wait until I see her the next time to ask about it again. Another friend's doctor added a small dose of Elavil to Nexium and he had similar great results.

I'm not saying it's a cure-all, but it may be worth considering.

PS: If I remember anything, it's that she said the misery of acid reflux causes anxiety, which tightens the muscles of the digestive system, which makes the reflux worse...

I'm lucky to leave it behind..now I only get it once in a while. But the whole anxiety thing makes it all worse. I too was put on xanax as well. No one understands unless they have been there, even my wife kept saying it could not be that bad.

So, are these dosages something that you intend to continue indefinetely? Is your doctor comfortable w/ that?

    TY, Bob

Well, I wasn't as bad, TNT, and the zegerid did the job great. It's now a week after the 2wk. dosage bottle, and I still have to take some Tums. I guess the body isn't going to fully heal, unless I go back to being 16yrs old, huh?
I think I will try the sodium Bicarb tho........... I'm down to 3-5 cigs a day, but this coffee addiction is also hard to kick!

I started having serious problems with acid reflux a few months after I started vaping. As a relatively new vaper, I was on the lookout for possible health issues that may have been caused by vaping so I naturally thought the vaping was what caused the reflux. I put off going to my doctor for a couple of months because I just knew she would tell me to stop vaping. After a couple of months of not being able to sleep due to the reflux I finally broke down and went to the doctor. She put me on Prilosec which seems to be helping and I've changed my diet. She has also ordered some tests to find out what is actually causing the problem. She suspects I may have gall bladder problems. A hiatal hernia may also be the culprit. I've also been under a lot of stress at work which is most likely adding to the problem.

My point is if you are having health issues like this that persist more than a few days, go see your doctor! I can't believe I put up with this for 2 months.

Okay, if it were up to me, yes, I'm comfortable with my dosages. Nexium and Xanax make my life go from living Hell to feeling pretty good. My doctor isn't. It's a long story, but I think it has something to do with health insurance. I work in a fairly low-paid, entry-level job... but I have spectacular insurance. If the doctor has a choice between a $5 a month generic prescription and an $800 brand-name, it doesn't matter... the insurance company won't ask any questions either way. (True story: it's happened, and more than once. As I've send to my pharmacist, "this isn't a prescription... I could move from my crappy apartment to a nice house with what this stuff costs.")

All of which means, I have a hard time finding a doctor willing to make an actual decision. If my insurance company will pay a specialist to run a bunch of tests... and then pay for another specialist to run even more tests... then most of the doctors I meet just keep sending me to someone else. Bottom line: my doctor won't write another prescription for what makes me feel good until I see yet another specialist... for heartburn. Really bad heartburn, but heartburn nonetheless.

Yes, I know millions upon millions of people in the US wish they had my problem.
