Another 2 cents ...

Too much nicotine and/or toomuch menthol gives me heartburn with my e-cigs.

I was a pack a day, salem light 100s smoker prior to ecigs who, like you, really only had heartburn when I was pregnant.

I started at 24mg and dropped (quickly) to 6mg with the heartburn ceasing. However, I have recently gone up to 12mg without any issues and have successfully beat my analog cravings.

I figured out the menthol part after adding to much menthol crystal/liquid to my own juice :)

For the record, I am not a MD but a RN and none of this is medical advice. Just sharing personal experience...

I hadn't really given the menthol too much thought, but I wonder if that may have contributed. Hopefully once all my tests are done the doc will give me the OK on the e-cig, and I can test that possibility out. At this point I can't see any reason they'd say no.

From everything I've read, I really doubt it's a reaction to the PG (which is good because the e-juices I bought are all PG-based, and the 0-nic liquid I bought to dilute them is an 80/20 PG/VG mix).

I should have results from the doctor either later this week or by the end of next week at the latest. Assuming I get the OK from my doc, my first test is going to be the Cappuccino juice from Cignot, because I have been wanting to try it since the day I ordered it! Fingers crossed.... :)

Perhaps is is your diet?

Hahaha, thanks! I imagine you're right, those feet probably aren't so great for the digestive system. Hehe.

Thank you all for the support. I had my follow-up with my doctor this morning and got the OK to try the e-cigs again! She said if my symptoms come back after I start vaping then we can guess that is the issue, but most likely it's not. Yay!

Of course, first thing I did after my appt. was drip a bit of the Cappucino juice, and lo and behold, I don't love the flavor. Anticlimactic or what!?! I tried my Raspberry Cream Soda from Viking Vapor a little later, though, and I think I may be in love.:w00t:

Thanks again everyone. I appreciate all the input you guys provided. I'm glad I had somewhere to ask these questions since my doc is not really knowledgeable when it comes to e-cigs.

I've had problems with acid reflux off and on for many years. Mostly I just use Tums, but when it's persistent, I also use Tagamet. Once in a while I'll have a bad episode of severe heartburn (for seemingly no reason) that lasts for a week or so and nothing seems to help. When I quit analogs and started vaping I got one of those bad episodes, except it lasted for like 2-4 weeks. It was brutal.

Have you actually quit smoking? For me, I think the bad acid reflux had more to do with quitting smoking than starting vaping. It's not uncommon for people to experience all sorts of digestive problems for a while after quitting smoking. Just treat the symptoms and hang in there. It'll pass. But if heartburn is something totally new for you, then you should probably see your doctor about it if it doesn't go away in a week or two.

This is most excellent advice, telsie. When we quit smoking, our bodies detox, and, it's not usually pretty.

(Sorry I didn't follow up earlier after my questions upthread - I kind of forgot about it.)

I'm interested to see how you feel a few days after returning to vaping. Keep us updated.

As a side thought, a few years back my wife started getting heartburn out of the blue. It would come and go. She tried to trace it down to something in her diet - with no verifiable results. She still will get bouts of heartburn which will last for a week or so and then go away. The doctors all say it is diet but we can't seem to make a connection. She doesn't smoke and I don't smoke around her (actually, I'm not "smoking" at all anymore)
