DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT SUGGEST YOU TRY THIS W/O THE KNOW-HOW, GUIDANCE, OR SUPERVISION. When you play w/ fire and don't respect it, you get burned. Please always be careful, and Safety first Ladies and Gentlemen! :D Happy vaping!

Today I finally decided I'm going to heat treat my SS Chi Clone and IGO-L..Here are the results:

HEAT2.jpgHot off the press...well the torch actually

HEAT1.jpgWhat it looked like when I put it back together

IGOCHI.jpg W/ the Igo on top. I kinda screwed up on the Igo, I held the torch a bit too long and it tuned white (which is the last color before it starts to glow), Also, even though I cleaned the crap out of the Igo, I now have my fingerprint etched into it hahaha

Anyways, I think I did a decent job for it being my first time. Its one of those things where you get better with practice!

This was a stainless steel material, correct?

What kind of torch did you use to do this, and what was your technique? I have a stainless steel Vamo on the way, and really only bought it because I wanted to mix and match the tubes. Being able to heat treat the SS tubing and get a cool looking 18350 or 18650 extension and/or top cap would be a fun experiment.

Thank you everybody! Yeah I did a bunch of research before I did it. I used a simple propare/butane blue tank torch (you can buy em at home depot/lowes for 10 bucks). Basically get a peice of relatively long very strong steel wire that I can Hang or hold the tubes on. And take the torch to them. never hold the torch in 1 place, always keep moving it. The colors go as follow: yellow, gold, redish/purple, deep purple, blue, light blue, white, melted puddle lol. If you are going for the blue look, I would stop at around purple because it continues to change colors while it cools, and if its still not how you want it, apply the torch again.

As far as a sealent, its a very good idea to buy a clear coat jewelry sealent. I didn't use it because I dont have any and it was my first time but I will most definitely for next time. IF any of you do it please post some pics, I would love to see how it turns out.

Also yes, I did it on a SS tube. Brass is better for patina aging, or acid aging IMO

if you are going to try it for a first time, I suggest trying it on something cheap like a clone perhaps (thats what I did). I really want the Celeste Nemesis (the heat treated blue nemesis), but Im too scared to take the torch to my real nemmy haha Althought it would look so cool!

I'm going to keep practicing, until I can get a mod all one color instead of rainbow. Best way to get an even color is using a Kiln I believe. If you guys want some good instructions and easy way to do this, theres quite a few videos on youtube (where I learned how)

Thanks for all the support and compliments :D

Lovely!

I tried this like last week...with a cheapo clone...no balls I know. Came out mostly brown ...pretty sure my touch is to hot. (oxy/propane mix)

Yes an Oxygen torch is far to hot, I mean I guess you could use it but you would have to be really quick with it or else it will go thru the colors really fast, then turn white, then light up a bright red, then totally distort/warp your mod, then melt lol

I suggest using either this
TORCH.jpg ( I think this would be better for atty's, but will totally work on a mod also)

or this (which is exactly what I used)
