Looks good :)
Were you the guy made a thread asking about this a week or so ago?

Anyhoo , I presume this is an oxide forming , and wonder what the results of polishing would be . (obviously not polishing it away!)

haha I don't remember, but yeah it was probably me. Not sure what polishing would do, but just in case you accidentally polish it away, you can totally redo it!

Beautiful. Reminds me of case hardening on the receiver of a rifle I used to have. I wonder, since the process preserved your fingerprint if it isn't possible to use oils or other substances to create a pattern prior to treating. Now you have me thinking, and I don't have anything appropriate to experiment on. Well, good luck with whatever you tackle next, I'd say your first attempt was a success!

My memory of the thread is not so hot either :p
I thought you could polish through the oxide layer a little , still retain the colour but take out some roughness .

Include the mandatory mileage may vary , peoples popular front of Judea , you read it on the nets .... :p

Yes , I thought true bluing (like firearms bluing) involves a chemical process too .

Edit : sorry for double post .. should have just edited the first one per-sociale after nija'd :p

*Anyone who thinks Madonna when they see "true bluing" should own up and then leave the thread , thanks for the fish ;) :p *

Thats an excellent Idea, may have to experiment with that on some cheap RDA's

Yes it definitely does. I believe the blueing on rifles and stuff is a form of rust/oxidation which forms a layer over the metal underneath, protecting it. I could totally 100% be wrong, but I think w/ bluing you heat it and dip it in oil. I forgot, saw it on some show once

Just did it to my magneto and igot. Looks pretty uniform. In the future will stop a little earlier. The chimbus is there for color comparison. :)
