Got 8 samples today and I'm trying them out now. Compared to the stock Volt flavors I like the vape density and thickness of these better so far. They seem to put out more vape than the stock volt flavors and I like that. I guess it could be the higher VG content that gives a thicker vape. I'll just do a mini runover of what I think of each of the flavors I have.

These are only my opinions but others can compare and perhaps someone could give me suggestions of other flavors/companies to try out.

Gandalf- The first one I tried. I was put off by it right away. Very rich but artificial tobacco flavor. Reminds me of swisher sweets. Definitely not my thing.

Darkhorse- Reminds me of a pipe tobacco but not as rich. More subtle flavor than Gandalf but with similar throat hit and vape density that I like. It's ok. Out of the tobacco flavors I like this best.

Huntsman - Very earthy but sweet tobacco flavor. It's ok but reminds me of Gandalf. The throat hit isn't as strong on this. It's grassy tasting. Don't think I'd buy it again. Has a cheap cigar taste.

Bladerunner - Cinnamon mint and vanilla flavor I think. Vape isn't very strong on this. I think the liquid might be too thick for the Volt cartomizers because the vape is very weak and causes the battery to heat quick. Of all the liquids this was the only one that was dark brown in color. Didn't like the flavor.

Oopma - Nutty taste. Not sweet at all. A stronger version of 555 I think. Good vape and throat hit. It's good despite the funny name. The first one I've liked but might be too much for daily use.

Menthol Burst - Tastes like toothpaste to me. I did smoke menthol analog cigs occasionally but don't like this.

Vapin Chimp - Mellow banana taste. It's ok. Pretty good for something different but kind of weak.

Heavenly T - Similar to ry4 from Volt but a little more refined tasting. Better throat hit as well. It's decent.

Order of preference

Oompa +
Heavenly T +
Vampin' Chimp ~
Darkhorse ~
Huntsman ~
Menthol Ice --
Bladerunner --
Gandalf --

Of all of those I think I would only buy Oompa or Heavenly T again. I almost passed on ioompa because of the name (I was imagining something sweet) and only added it at the last second to fill my cart. Needless to say I think the best flavors are only just ok. Nothing really wows me. The tobacco flavors all have a Swisher Sweets taste to them and I don't like that.

Anyone have ideas or other e-liquids I might like based on this?

Actually, I think you may need to let them steep for a couple weeks and try again. To me, it seems your taste sense might be a little off for some reason. Not saying you are all wrong, but some of your descriptions of the ones I've tried are way different from what I taste and what most folks describe. Especially oompa as nutty? not at all to me and the fact that Gandalf is not artificial at all. Gandalf is an extraction of real tobacco as are most of HHV's tobaccos, except for a few. Heavenly Tobacco is one that is not an actual tobacco extraction.

Taste is always subjective and tastes change. So, give them a try again in a couple weeks and then let us know what you think.

Buggs is right, Mac.

Heather's flavors absolutely need to steep a while before you can get
the best from them. A coupla weeks will make such a difference that
you won't even think they are the same juice. Do yourself a favor,
and shake them every day, then try them again in a coupla weeks.
Most people find it hard to beat Heather's juices, and I think you will,
too, once you become better acquainted with them.

Now, let me see: How many shares of stock do I own in Heather's?

Oops. Just talking to myself again.

I've been vaping the Oompa the past couple hours and I like it quite a lot. It did taste nutty to me at first. A bit like sweet chestnut. The chocolate and tobacco flavor is a nice combo. Really works for me. Going to order a big batch of it. Just thought I'd throw out my initial impressions. Guess I'm not a big fan of the pipe tobacco taste of Gandalf and the others but I may give them a try again in a few days. I can see how they would be a fun taste for an ecig but for me whenever I smoked a pipe or a cigar in the past I would never inhale. Those flavors are a bit too strong for me I guess. I hadn't known about steeping before but now I know.

I hated Huntsman and Dark Horse when I first tried them, but I already
knew that HHV was excellent, and I knew the steeping drill. Gotta say,
Dark Horse is one awesome vape, and it tastes nothing now like it did
when I first got it. Same thing with Huntsman, but DH is my favorite of
the two. I mean, the difference was night and day between new and
steeped.

Yes, you owe it to yourself to try other vendors if this doesn't float your boat.

I agree about the steeping, but since you seem to have ordered enough flavors, and it appears that it's not just one you are not crazy about, but more than 1/2 of them. Some were extracted, some were not, etc. Perhaps they are just not for you.

I read the comments and it's almost like nobody will let you "not" like these juices. :) "Because everyone else does".

I had similar experiences in my vaping journey, and HHV was one of them. I was scratching my head, trying to figure out what "my" problem was. I discussed it with the vendor. Basically, we came to the conclusion that I had ordered a pretty good number of flavors, and that while steeping would help (the flavors become smoother), chances are that if you don't like them initially, you are probably not going to like them in the future.

So----I wouldn't mention this if it was one or even two juices you didn't like, but you seem to have tried a number of them.

sometimes, no matter how stellar a vendor's juices are, to other people, they may not work for YOU.

In this case, I would put them aside to steep, but in the meanwhile try a few other favorite vendors and see if things are more to your liking. There are at least 4 vendors that are very popular that I just can't vape, it was something in their signature or base that carried across most of their line.......this is WHY people have favorite vendors. And vendors they just can't use. :) It's normal.

I read the responses in this topic and I can only say that other people's taste buds are not your taste buds, you have to go with what is appealing to you. It doesn't matter if everyone else likes the flavors you bought.......in other words, I think it may be leading a relatively new vaporer into a territory where you start to question your own taste buds......which isn't fair to you.

This is no reflection on the vendor, or the obvious fans of these juices, but I'm very against being talked into liking something that I don't like. Your review is YOUR appraisal of the product, and you are entitled to your impressions.

As I've said a hundred times before, if everyone liked the same juice, we wouldn't have all these different juice vendors. I've tried a lot of wildly popular vendors where I only liked a juice or two, and sometimes not even that. I agree with the steeping advice you've been given, but in the end, you may just not like the HHV juice. No big deal, there are lots of juice out there for you to try.

I've only ordered once from HHV so far (was right at the end of December) and I got one of their sample packs. These are pre-mixed so they're already steeped. The flavors I got that you also received tasted completely different to me than yours did to you so I would also recommend steeping. And, as gthompson said, tastes are very subjective. Hopefully a little steeping will help, but it could just be that those juices simply aren't for you.

There's nothing at all wrong with NOT liking a particular juice. The OP or others reading may be a newer vaper, all I was trying to do was to make sure they know that sometimes juice fresh out of the mailbox doesn't taste the same as it does after a steeping period. Far be it from trying to not allow the person to not like the juice. I made a recommendation to try it again later and let us know at that time if they still feel the same way. If I dumped or discounted every juice I didn't like the first few times of trying it, I would have seriously missed out on some great juice. Besides steep time, taste sense can be skewed for a number of reasons at any given time. Many of us are aware of vapers tongue/flavor block playing tricks on flavor. I think the OP and everyone knows they sure don't need anyone's permission to not like a particular juice. I mean we even let the chimp get by with not liking Gollum, fer cryin' out loud. ;)

I can't count the number of juices I didn't like out of the box, but loved a few weeks later. :)

There's nothing wrong with not liking any juices. I don't like the Georgia Peach Tobacco but love Pirate's Booty. Vaped down my Dragon's Fire very rapidly and am trying Shadowfax. These are my first steps into the tobacco's, before that I was all about the fruits. Still LOVE most of them. I will agree that you should at least let them steep then try them again. If you don't like them at least you can say you gave them a fair shot. ;)

Psssst: try Cinful Pear and Nice Pear. amazing. In sample sizes they should need no steeping whatsoever.

And once again your gonna hear that Everyone's taste is so very subjective. I vape a lot of HHV juice. I have my own ritual for steeping juice no matter where it comes from. All I heard was that Huntsman would be so fantastic if I liked Dark Horse. Well guess what...........NOT Still don't like Huntsman but do enjoy some of the others. I've got juice that has steeped from another vendor for over 3 months cause I liked it when I first started and then my tastebuds changed and now I got a lot of juice I don't like but if the zombies come I can still stand. Every one is so different on this subject. I wish you the best in finding yours.

I could be totally wrong here based on your join date and post count, If I am Im sorry but theres a reason why people on this forum will tell you not to throw any juices away. It takes a long time for some of us for our taste buds to come back fully and many people have reported hating a juice only to try it out a few months later and absolutely love it.

You have to take reviews and opinions with a grain of salt here and sometimes consider the source. :)

It would be helpful for new reviewers to give us a little more info about themselves, like what theyre vaping on, how long theyve been vaping and what devices they are using so we can decide for ourself if its a close match to ourselves and our style of vaping.

When I first tried caramel apple tobacco from HHV I didn't care for it at all...It wasn't that it was horrible but straight out of the mailbox it tasted like NOTHING but apple, after a few minutes of vaping it, it made me feel nauseous. I let it sit for a month and decided to revisit it and WOW! It is now a part of my daily line up. It changed so much that I would have sworn that the bottles were switched LOL This juice alone made me a firm believer in the steeping process. Some juices are simple favors and you seem to get nearly the same thing a month later (minus, maybe a chemical taste) while other juices are more complex and need time to blend together. I am not saying that you will fall in love with HHV juices even after steeping, but I wouldn't give up on them just yet :) I know it can be confusing because some people don't believe in the steeping process, while others of us have a spread sheet to keep track of how long our juices need to steep.

Be your own judge, revisit any juice that you don't like from the mailbox.....there is a very good chance you will find some that come alive in time and are better, some will be the same, and some will be.......magical :)
