Hi all,

Just joined this forum after reading a number of posts. Absolutely fantastic. Hoping to get some advice for starting up.

So I smoke around 2 packs/day (for over 20 years). Recently tried a disposable ecig bought at a 7-11 and it was pretty good. Taste was fantastic and it did reduce craving. It seemed a bit weak and unsatisfying, though.

I am guessing that high nic juice and hard TH / LH are what I am after. I'm looking for a more permanent and cost effective solution. After reading Best E-Cigarette for a New User It looks like a manual eGo with LR carts and and high nic juice are what I am after.

So hear is where I need advice. Is the eGo a good choice for a 2 pack/day smoker? Any other recommendations? Are there any particularly good suppliers / deals / kits you would point me towards? How about LR carts suppliers / kits / deals? Carrying case / portable charger recommendations? I'm guessing I can find a kit with one but if there are better ones out there I'll buy it separate.

Anyways, thanks for any and all advice, I am just starting at this and have found this forum to be a great resource. Thank you to the operators and posters that make it so useful.

Somewhere out there
I suggest an Ego C Twist, 650 mah or the 1000 mah, you need two, one to charge while you are vaping the other. It works great. You can vary the amount of power and that means it gives you more options. I got mine at Joye eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 1000mAh Battery Get the charging cord and and the recommended wall charger. Welcome! bnrk

Hi Doowod and welcome to ECF. You are probably going to get bombarded with advice now! No worries, it's a good thing. Many of us, myself included, can only give you info based on our experience and technical info we've learned over time here. I did use the Ego (and still do when I do outside recreational activities) and it works very well. That said, I didn't know it at the time, but would have been better off with a Kgo kit as it provides a higher voltage battery (for better vaper production). It may even be better made. Many here recommend looking at Crystal Clear Vaping for the Kgo kits offered there. Juice will be your next decision. Unless you already have a preference, at least get a sample package to start off. Good luck!

Hello, and welcome!

My advice is not to get an eGo. Stay away from the eGo Twist as well. Steer clear of any -C, -T "atomizer-tank" setups as well.

You are looking for strong TH and a relatively reliable / long lasting device. The way I see it, you have two options:

1) (recommended) Remain in the "mid-size" class of PV, but go for a larger battery, higher voltage KGO (1100 mAh, true 3.7 V device). The higher voltage assures a stronger throat hit and a more satisfying vape. Otherwise, it is fairly similar in form factor with eGo and takes the all the heads that work with "510 connections". Here is an option from where to buy such a kit: Dark City

In the same category, you might consider the E-Power type of products. On sale here: E-Power 14650 this is again an eGo form factor, but the main difference is that it takes generic, swappable batteries instead of containing a sealed, ultimately disposable battery. This gives you a little more flexibility and ensures that the device doesn't have an "expiration date". Batteries have a limited number of cycles, you see.

2) Venture into the world of APV. The idea here is that a larger, more robust, usually far better built "mod" or APV will allow you to have a great vaping experience right from the get go. This device will be with you for a long time, and regardless what else you will buy (and trust me you will end up buying more devices down the road), you won't write it off or pass it on because it will work and keep working.

There are many APVs out there and it can get confusing. The disadvantage is that you might not yet know what you want from an APV and you might get now something different from what you'd choose a month from now. But there are safe choices - APVs that will surely not disappoint you and will work. My best guess here is a Silver Bullet APV. Look at it here: Silver Bullet It's solid, durable, works flawlessly and has been on the market a long time with no real negative reviews or reactions.

Well... there is some difference in price. The Twist comes as a single unit, the KGO contains two full units. If you go for a mid-size you absolutely need two units. In fact, you will always need backups, and backups for your backups. Otherwise it is going to be very difficult to make a full switch from cigarettes.

The Twist in all likelyhood has a shorter battery life, both in terms of how long the charge lasts and how long the battery will last. The adjustable voltage doesn't really give you that much of leeway as a true variable voltage device, and if you were to buy two of those Twists, as you must if you go that route, then you'd already spend in the same range as for an entry level true VV APV. It's a judgment call, but it's important to figure these things into your decision...

Yes, Boge LR are a great and very consistent vape. I always say that no matter what else you pick up, make sure you get at least a pack of standard size Boge LR so you know you'll have something to vape on :)

Other options for starters would be larger but similar cartomizers - Smoktech XL single-coil ("Resurrector") or a Boge XL sized. Take a look: Crystal Clear Vaping

And there are the filler-less cartomizers also referred to as clearomizers. In this latter category, some of the good players are the eGo Vision aka CE4+ aka Stardust, and the Phoenix bottom coil. Check them out here: GotVapes™ Cartomizers : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

I think the KGO, E-Power or Twist will work fine for you. I think the main thing you need to do is to get juice with a high enough nicotine level. I'd suggest trying 24mg in a 70/30 or maybe 60/40 PG/VG ratio. I bought some juices in a 12mg nic level, and I don't get enough throat hit from them. A higher nic level in a juice with a 70/30 PG/VG ratio will give you a good hit.

Taste is very subjective, but the juice that gives me the most cigarette-like vape experience is ECBlends Ry4 in a 60/40 ratio at 18mg nic level. Doesn't have a lot of taste (to me), but feels like smoking a cig. Your mileage may vary, and probably will, so buy small sample bottles until you find what works for you.

Oh, and with a KGO or E-Power, stay away from dual coil (DC) cartos. Use single coil low resistance (LR) cartos (such as the Smok-Tech XL 1.7ohm or Boge 2.0ohm cartos). The 1.5ohm cartos you will see advertised are usually (always?) dual coil.

Kgo or E-Power A's they are true 3.7 PVs. Manual batts are much better because they put you in control. Autos have shutoff whereas with a manual you need more vape just hold the button down longer. Best carto I've found for the Kgo is the Resurector 1.7 XL aka Smok Tech carto. You can also eventually move to tank or Clearomizer systems- much less refilling. ECF/ reputable vendors:
Darkcityvapor
Hoosier
Sweet-vapes
I like the starter kit from sweet-vapes A's it has 2 V2 Clearomizers with the kit.
Good Luck.

Get 2 1000mah units some Boge LR cartos and some .24 juice. Finding a juice you like is your choice.

I don't mean to pick on puffy but there is a point I'd like to expand upon. Buy 4 of those batteries. Or a bigger battery device for at home. This is all cheap imported product that we're buying from the cheapest place and quality control is not awesome. I've had 1/3 of mine die. Buy cartomizers like they are free. Set yourself up for success.

One thing that a lot of people forget to mention to people getting ready to vape for the first time is that you drag on an e-cigarette a bit differently than you do an analog (regular cigarette). With an e-cigarette you end up dragging slower and for a longer time. A lot of people suggest a bigger battery because of the increased power and longer life. Personally, I prefer a 78mm KR808D-1 set up over the larger Ego type. My go-to kit for about a year now is the Halo G6. I have 510s and a Ramiya R2-750 which I use from time to time, but I always go back to my G6. When used with the Halo liquids (made in the US) none of the other models I've used come even close to the performance and taste from the G6. Halo also has incredible liquids. There are other kits that are the same model as the G6 (The Volt, Bloog for example), but there is nothing comparable to Halo's liquids, just my honest opinion.

What you are likely to find is that you have different needs at different times. The Ego's are big and heavy and don't allow for very discrete vaping. Just something to consider.
