Well I am just posting a thread to let you know that I have had only 2 analogs a day since I got some cheapo rip-off mini from the local smoke shop last Saturday, complete with 5 cartridges and a USB charger!

Ha ha. Well after several days of struggling with how to smoke a mini, I finally figured that part out without flooding the atty. I actually made my last cartridge last two whole days, whoo hoo!

What a struggle. I still want to order something. I have read/seen the posts and vids from DonDaBoomVape (you are awesome!) but still being a newbie how the heck do I decide?

I can't spend too much money...lol. Aren't we all in that situation? Plus my husband quit smoking analogs in November 2009 but he is getting a bit envious of even my *limiited* smoking I have been doing.

How does one decide??? I don't even vape in front of him in case it makes him want to smoke again. Wahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

OK, now I'm done. Thanks for all the great info here.

.

This is an easy one. You've already figured out how to make a mini work, so you'll have no problems with a 510. You can get a "no box" 510 kit from Cignot.com for like $35. Buy another one for your hubby, along with some zero nicotine juice samples. You'll receive it in the mail in 2 or 3 days. Make sure you become the "Juice Master" of the house (the one that knows how to do/find/fix everything) and Voila! No more envy, just gratitude and eternal slavery from the hubby, lest you stop filling his cartridges! (this is my strategy)

If he's too committed to try vaping the zero nic, then you have plenty of back-ups. Win/win, all around.

The 510 is a great starter e-cig. Just got mine and I'm experimenting with different flavored e-liquids such as raspberry (excellent with your morning coffee), root beer, cola, along with several others. But, maybe you can modify the carts on your mini, and then just order some e-liquid and fill your own carts. That would be a pretty small investment.

For me, the monetary investment is worth it. I really wanted to quit smoking analogs, and was willing to shell out several hundred bucks in nicotine patches. They have a lousy success rate, so it very possibly would have been a waste of money. I spent over $400 on Chantix (smoking cessation drug) last year, just to end up starting up again. 1 week ago, I saw an ad for e-cigarettes, and my life has taken a turn for the better.

So far, I have spent around $215 (incl. shipping) for a dual 510 kit, 2 extra mega batteries, a sample pack of 6 different flavored full-strength e-liquids, and a 30 ml bottle of tobacco flavored full-strength e-liquid. If nothing breaks, I should be set for several months, I may need more e-liquid though. All of that is small price to pay (for me) considering that I may have found an actual way to quit smoking permanently.

I also got 2 extra attys and 10 extra blank carts. I ordered my stuff from perfectelectroniccigarette.com and he threw in some fluval cart filler and a syringe for filling the carts (I don't use it, but it is good to have on hand.) filling your own carts is a breeze, there are a million videos out there that show how to do it.

All that extra stuff is necessary for me since I vape quite a bit, and I want all of the backup gear in case something breaks or burns out (like the atty).

Perhaps you could direct your hubby over to these forums so he can see just how many people drop the analog habit in a short time and vape intead. ANYTHING is better than a cigaette. I could probably smoke gun powder and live longer...8-o

I will gradually, and I mean gradually, lower the strength of the e-liquid until I am puffing zero strength. From there, I can always take a drag off of the 510 if I cave in to a craving.

Best of luck!

Abso-freakin'-lootly.

I've spent amazing amounts of money on The Patch, The Gum, Nicotrol Inhalers, Chantix, anti-depressants (shudder) even Hypnosis. Nada.

I smoked 3 packs a day. Do the math. I can spend $300 every month on vape-related stuff and still save money! I think what freaks people out, is all of that money is spent "up-front", instead of dribbled out little by little.

By the way, none of this was meant to demean the Original Poster, or her husband. Just general thoughts about the spending.

@ Fedor

Yeah, I was just using a bit of hyperbole to demonstrate my point. Such a light smoker may not need anything other than the equipment she already has.

On the other hand, a lot of people have very good luck with some of the cartridge mods, like the paperclip variation of "the plug".

I tried almost all of what is listed and actually quit for 3 years straight once. But one day the smell of tobacco got the best of me.

Back to the OP: I too recommend using the Joye510 because it is the most popular for newbies and you can get parts from almost all vendors.

My hats off to your hubby, I do not recommend encouraging him to vape if he is free of the habit, but I would encourage him to vape instead of smoke if he cave's in to craving for tobacco.

Oh, thank you everyone! I was not ignoring, I haven't had time to get back here to check in.

I'm pretty sure I'll go with the Joye 510 from Cignot, but should I go with the manual or auto battery?
I use manual batts only, auto batts can be activated by accident. Manual batts have less "moving parts", so less to go wrong.
