I recently passed the 3 month point of being totally smoke AND vape free….While I still have my eGo system and some juice packed away….I doubt I’ll ever have a need for it again….
My journey of 25+ years smoking a pack and a half a day ended in Oct of 2010 when I started vaping…and my much shorter journey of vaping ended in Mar of 2011….I never really expected to totally quit smoking when I took up vaping…But when I did I began to think I might be able to kick my nicotine habit totally…
My plan to gradually step down on the nicotine never did transpire…I was still vaping 18 mg when I quit…Out of curiosity one day I decided to see how long I could go without vaping…and without climbing the walls... Surprisingly…I never experienced any serious withdrawal symptoms….certainly nothing like what I felt like in the 2 dozen or so times years when I had made attempts to quit smoking cold turkey…The whole detox experience ended up being pretty uneventful and painless… Maybe I wasn’t getting as much nicotine from vaping as I thought..Or may maybe it was because I didn’t feel any pressure of failing.(I was ready to accept vaping long term if need be)….Dunno…..I can only say to anyone contemplating giving it all up to just give it a try…..You may be surprised…Worst case…you just go back to vaping…
I still get cravings/urges occasionally…They are fairly mild and more of an annoyance than anything…Do I miss vaping..?…A little…but it’s nice to be free from all the paraphernalia that goes with it…. Even with making my vaping system as fairly simple as I could…it was still a hassle…
I still find myself coming back to this forum…albeit less frequently….Good to see more and more people making the switch…. I honestly believe most folks here are far better off vaping than smoking…even if they are planning on doing so long-term…
This will probably be my last post…Maybe I’ll do a 1 year anniversary post when it rolls around…I’m confident of remaining smoke and vape free…..Passing the mid point in life.… ones mortality starts coming into focus…and provides a strong motivation…....As I mentioned before…I owe a deep debt of gratitude to this place….and lots of the folks here….So thanks again….best wishes and good luck to all of you ….
