Hello All!18650 questions...

Hello everyone,
I have been vaping for quite some time on a ego twist and mini protank. I am now working on moving to a mod. I am actually coming up with a design to build my own semi mechanical mod. I ordered 2 Ultrafire 18650 BRC batteries. I am going to hook them up in series, in a dual 18650 battery holder. I believe those batteries have a 5 amp draw rating. My question is, what happens to the rating when you hook the batteries up in series? Does it stay the same or double?

Any help appreciated,

Thanks!

Hi and Welcome to ECF!

First most - using batteries with "fire" in the name is a rule of general avoidance as they are not very safe/good batteries (ultrafire, trustfire etc)

The effects on your ratings would depend on if they are serial or parallel. Batteries in parallel will together produce the voltage of one cell, but the current they supply will be # of batteries times that of a single cell. Batteries in a serial series will together produce the current of one cell, but the voltage they supply will be # of batteries times that of a single cell.

So, Since effective capacity is doubled by combining lipos in parallel, amps are doubled as well. C rating is unchanged.

Thanks! I think the dual holder I ordered hooks the batteries up it series, im not sure. But I do want parallel because of the higher rating. And yes i know they are not the best, I picked them because of their price I plan to upgrade them in the future. If the holder is not parallel I will rewire it.
