Hello everyone! My name is Manny, and I decided to kick the habit of smoking a couple of weeks ago. I don't know what urged me to try out e-cigarettes, I just kind of stumbled upon them, and it is not as easy as it looks to get into, in fact I have been smoking again lol.

I wish I had come upon this great board before I ventured into the vaping arena, I probably wouldn't have messed up so bad. I started off buying an Njoy Npro from 7-11. I charged it up, and was super excited! The charging completed and I screwed on my first cartomizer, thinking this would be great, I was wrong. I inhaled, and got.. nothing. No vapor, no LED, nothing at all. I tried the other cart, and YAY I was off to the races.

However, the race ended fast, The thing started lighting up on it's own. Got piping hot, and just ate the battery up. I got in touch with Njoy, and they said to send it back, even sent me a prepaid shipping label. I sent it back and, stupidly, bought ANOTHER Npro so I would have one to use while the other was being repaired. I mean hey, lightning can't strike twice right? Wrong. SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I have sent these units back and forth to Njoy three times EACH, same exact problem every time.

Frustrated I went into a local smoke shop to buy some analogs. There I seen a kit dubbed "health e-cigarette". For $70.00 USD that baby could be mine. 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, 10 carts, a wall charger and even a car charger. Yeah.. I know what you are thinking..DON'T DO IT MANNY!!.. but of course being the newb I am.. I did it.

First one did not work right out of the box. Second one died after 3 days. I go in the store, hella ....... Guy says sorry, you have to send it back to the manufacturer. Guess what, there is no indication ANYWHERE in the little piece of paper they call a user manual as to who the manufacturer is, or where to send it, or if there even is a warranty. Drew a blank from google researching also.

I am at a loss. I want to, and need to quit smoking. I have a brand new baby boy, he doesn't need to be around that stuff, and I want to live to watch him grow up, and teach him to play ball ya know? The problem now is my income is strung so tight. House payment, 2 car payments, all of the bills and paying for college full time. The wife can't find a job.

I enjoy reading all of the great info here, and wish I had come upon this sooner so I could join you all in the wonderful world of vaping. I just can't afford it now, not even for a $30 dollar vaper. So I am buying anologs by the single. 50 cents a piece. I know I'm wasting what precious little money I do have on them, but hell.. what's a man to do at this point?

Anyways, I will see you guys around! Hopefully I can become apart of this community with you all eventually! :D

~Manny~

P.S. Sorry for the novel I just made you guys read, just had a lot to get off my chest lol.

I understand, the kits you buy at stalls or in stores are usually no good, at least in my experience. My current favorite is Apollo Ecigs (Apollo Ecig | High Quality E Cig | Best E cigarette Starter Kits). I started out with Volcano Ecigs, and they were good for a while, but my batteries flooded with juice, like you said yours did (that's why they would light up and keep going), and when both of my atomizers died, they weren't covered by the warranty. I currently use an eGo kit, which is usually for more advanced users as it doesn't look like a cigarette and most people don't like that, and I also use an Apollo Extreme Kit, which I believe is a great starter kit. I have not had any issues with it at all.

Yeah, I have learned that the hard way lol. I have read alot here about the eGo's being really good and reliable, and Joye 510's I believe? Don't care much if the hting looks like a cig at this point lol, just need to get off of the smelly buggers!

Well, I didn't read your whole novel...........lol..........but I think I know where your coming from. The learning curve on vaping is very steep in the beginning and can be very discouraging. Don't give up!!!!!!!! Have your tried a simple custom mod box? You can buy a really, really cheap double a box that has been modified and runs off standard protected cell lithium batteries that are a lot more durable then the standard lithiums that come in the chinese kits. Also they use sealed battery connectors so if you drip you wont get junk in your housing.

Sorry if you know all this but I went through several kits before I found discovered all this and it changed the experience completely. Myself and 6 of my friends have all quit thanks to e cigs. Good luck!!!!

Steep learning curve indeed, but it would have certainly been alot easier had I found this board. I am simply amazed at all of the info here. It's like it's own little underworld nation of vapers lol.

Edit:

Thank you sugar, I'll take that into consideration for sure, and that would be great. I don't want to spam messages though and filth the board up with nonsense just to get the chance to beg for help haha. It is nice though that there are great people here to help if it's needed and can be done.

I'm really sorry you had such bad luck with your first venture into vaping.

Sugar and Spice is right, check out the PIF section. If you can come up with $30 you can get started with a great, reliable kit - the Riva at Liberty Flights. Excellent company, great warranty. As a matter of fact, you can go wrong with any of the registered vendors here on this site.

Does this resemble your second kit at all?

Health E-Cigarettes - Basic Health E-Cigarette/E-Health Cigarette Starter Kit (As low as $14.99 each!) #EC502A

Thank you all for the warm welcomes and the advice, not sure if I can post in that thread yet with my post count down though.

The E-cig itself looks like the ones I got in the kit, but the packaging is different. Packaging is a glossly black box, with a big pink e then the words health and -cigarette next to the e.

I almost did the same thing as you- But I was able to stop at the first crappy kit, and they NEVER sent out my new one- (different company) -

Look here in the classifieds, there are always people selling stuff and some do it pretty cheap- I know that right now you are broke- I am right there with you- BUT, the time will come pretty quick when you do have the 30.00 to spend on one. ANd be sure to enter all the contests on this site- Our wonderful vendors are always giving away great items- Its amazing how many contests there are!!

I would say that you need about 50.00 to get started vaping- you can buy a no box 510 at notcig.com for fairly cheap- Juice will be hard to get what you like at first, and is a place where your money really goes into a black hole- trying to find the one you like- Maybe you will have to get just whatever juice is the best price that week, for the most amount, and vape it - no matter how bad- until you can start buying some more- one at a time.

THen of course, you can trade the ones you hate when you get a decent stash-

I fiqure you will average about 3ml a day- So, be sure to take that into account when you do fiqure it out.

I do understand the place you are in. I was there- I found some great folks here and they really helped me out- I wish we could get these crappy sellers all shut down. They are really giving vaping a bad rap.
I fiqure for every one person that comes here, at least 12-15 are lost to the vaping lifestyle by the bad products.

Hi Manny and welcome. I'm sorry to hear you had so much trouble. Do please check out the "help" thread posted above, you've made the mental decision and that's the REAL hurdle. You've got really good reasons to switch and there's lots of folks here willing to help.

Just a thought, since I don't know what your skill set is, but if you're handy with a soldering iron, you can build your own PV for around $10. There's a tutorial complete with pictures, and its so easy, even I managed to make one (works GREAT btw).

Here's the tutorial: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/106016-how-build-puck.html

Best of luck to you, a lot of us have been where you are and understand what you're going through.

I am a moderate to heavy smoker, between a pack and a half to two per day. It hurts pretty bad right now because I definetly can't afford to smoke that heavy right now lol. I've been pretty wired the last couple of days. I smoke Marlboro 100's, regular strength. Been smoking for about 11 years now, nasty little habit lol.

quittin4mykids - thanks for the help :D I was reading about some of the contests that there are sometimes, I just can't post in them threads or anything yet, low post count n' all. I'll get there one post at a time! lol

Welcome to ECF! Hang in there. I smoked 3/4 to 1 ppd of M.Red 100's or regulars for .... a long time. Other brands before that. 30 years total. I quit with e-cigs. You will to. It takes some time and learning curve. Don't get too discouraged. Hang in there until you get the opportunity/cash together to get another kit (like an eGo, or 510, or bloog, or or or ..... research it).

I quit by using the e-cig and making sure I "had it worked out" before I finished my last pack. That was it. No cigs since. Of course, I've changed models and juices, learned a lot from ECF. It's a process. You go through it your way. Just remember YOU CAN DO IT!

The eGo's are nice, they use a 510 atomizer. But I personally prefer cartomizers. A cartomizer is a combined cartridge and atomizer, so there is less messing with cartridges; you just screw it on, use it all day, and unscrew it and throw it away when you're done. My Apollo kit showed me how easy and convenient it could be. That would be the fastest thing to help get you off of cigarettes.
