Hello all...new to here...got a question about wraps.

My current vape machine is an Innokin iTaste VTR. I work out in non air conditioned shop in Florida. I carry my vape in my front pocket. The sweat from me has over time worn the finish down pretty bad in areas of my vtr. I've ordered an ipv Mini and for the first time, thought about putting a wrap on it. Do you think the wrap will hold up? Or would it just be better to buy a second ipv since they are so cheap and just wrap that one and leave the one I use at work alone?

Hiya, FloridaOkie and welcome to ECF!

Um... you have me stumped, as I sit here and it's 20 degrees F outside

I'd think that the wrap would give at least a little temporary protection, but sweat and moisture gets everywhere, so you may have to replace the wrap from time to time. It's just a guess, though.

Happy Vaping!

I think the wrap might trap sweat, possibly further compounding your problem...that VTR is one of the devices I had scoped, prior to finding the unit I have at the moment..consider an E-LVT, or figure out how to use 'creeping' silicone, on some areas of a box-type device, and thin sheet silicone gasketing. Sweat EATS many types of plating, and definitely zinc alloys. 'Shoulda seen the Iver Johnson TP-.22 I used to carry, bare, against my skin...grey, nasty..might try a spray epoxy appliance finish.

Ya...The acid levels in my sweat can be rough on metals. I have stainless Smiths that have pitting from carrying against bare skin. I think I'll buy a wrap to clean up the look on the VTR...buy another IPV Mini and wrap it...then use it for outside of work. And use this one for work now that I've partially retired the VTR. I think the Black finish on the IPV Mini will hold up better than the VTR anyways. hehe.

I had this same problem but with my MVP, the sweat plus I was banging it around at work and such in my pocket. So I just grabbed a cheap mech mod off eBay($15 chiyou) and problem solved. The wrap would protect the finish of the mod and should stand up to a bit of sweat and I don't see sweat peeling the wrap off or something.

to ecf FloridaOkie. Nice to meet you and so glad you are here. I used to use a mvp2 and I carried it in my pocket. I never had any issues with the wrap that was on it. (of course I didn't sweat, I'm a girl so I perspired)

There are all kinds of templates on the internet. You could even use a roll of contact paper if you really wanted to be thrifty. Just sayin'. Have fun and make yourself at home.

I've got a nice little wrap on my IPV Mini 2. Seems like it'll hold up pretty well. $11 on Evilbay

I also have a J Wrap on my Hana Mini and it's been on there for something like 10 months. This is my go to work mod and it's covered in grime and full of dust and crud but the wrap has held up great. They are a little expensive, $18 I think, but if I had to do it again I'd definitely pay for one.
