Newbie here my wife and I just started vaping last week. I have been a 1-2 pack a day smoker for 20 years. I can't tell you all how much better I feel already. We are using the EGO-C Twist with Kanger T3 Bottom Coil Clearomizer's. I have one big (but short) problem... My mother in law is wanting to do the same. Some people have a "great mother in law" I am not some people. She wants me to make our own flavors. So I need to learn as much as possible about making my own flavors. We have ordered from a few suppliers to find the flavors that we might like first:vape Dudes, Aqua Vapes and Pink Spot so far. We have not received the order from vape Dudes as of yet. IMO Pink Spot has more flavor than Aqua Vapes. I am not versed well enough yet but I have been poking around the site today. However I think I am in information overload. I am also interested in modding but we will wait on that until the mixing skills have surfaced(hopefully).

Welcome to ECF.

Here is what I have been doing to prepare for DIY. I started by mixing together premade juices to try to improve flavors that I don't like. Keep notes. Read through DIY liquids sub forum like you're a mad person. Try a bunch of different pg/vg combos and see what you like in premade. Basically research then research some more. For supplies I went through wizard labs and got a bunch for stuff for amount spent.

Well welcome to ECF and congrats for taking the plunge! Why does your mother in law want you to make your own flavors though? I would say thats an interest you can't really force on someone else. If YOU want to do it, than go for it... but if its her that wants you to do it, well she is the one with the interest and she should do it herself. If the reason is money to be saved, well, you can still vape without spending what you spent on analogues. But I personally think that diy is a hobby in and of itself. It can be difficult, dangerous, and time consuming. You can also end up spending alot upfront getting started, and trying to find the right bases. So do it only if you want to, not because someone else wants you to.

Well oh my... isn't that fun? Not really I know. Well then, since this is something you want to do, just go about it at your pace and try not to let her pressure influence you. Just start simple and work your way to where you want to be. Once you have enough posts, you will be able to go to the diy rooms, which is where you are likely to find the most helpful people for this purpose. In the meantime, concentrate on finding your own flavor profiles with other vendor's juices. Don't be afraid to try something that doesn't sound like you will like it... I find that I am always getting surprised. And also make sure to try different quality levels. Low, mid, and high... see where you want to be when you start. But seriously...take your time and go at your own pace.

It is something that I want to do. However the comfort level is not there as of yet. Also she wants what she wants...did I mention that she lives across the street?

Well then, if she wants DIY juice, she needs to make some! Provide her with some sources for information and let her have at it! It's something SHE wants. So she should just go out and DO it! It's not your job!

Yikes!!!! I know how you feel. My in laws live across the yard from me....they're cool most of the time though. Sometimes I want to sell the house and move across the country. Maybe your wife can sweet talk her a little bit. That's what I do when I have a problem with my mother in law. She can't say no to her baby boy!

Ah. The sweet tingling feeling outlaws can have on a spouse. Sometimes it's a short sharp stabbing pain of undeserved judgement, sometimes it's the ongoing dull throb of unwarranted pressure. I actually wore flesh colored earplugs to Christmas dinner this year. Afterward it was remarked upon how polite and accommodating I *finally* was. He just giggled and accepted the "compliment."

Congrats on making the change to vaping. I'm in agreement with those who say not to mess with the DIY this early. Besides, there are so many vendors offering a lot of flavors, that you should find a good supplier(s) fairly easily. DIY is like a hobby--get used to what's out there first, then you kind of have an idea of the type of mixing you want to do.
