Ex smoker here, been rolling tobacco for 30 years and took up vaping a few months ago. Well over the phase of searching for that tobacco flavor that would remind me of smoking :), Figured out that tobacco flavors for vape have nothing in common with tobacco smoke. I guess tar or ashtray are not popular aromas, so I just gave in and am doing fruity with a bit of mint now. Started with a lost vape ursa mini pod, and vaped 20mg nic salts for a few months and now have a innokin kroma Z that im still figuring out. Wanted to ask if anyone else here feels that the Z coils need a bit more watts that specified? The 0.8 is specified 15-18W. There is almost no taste at 15W, the taste is kind of flat at 18W and the sweet spot for me is 25W. The 0.6 coil is similar, rated at 9-13W the sweet spot for me si at 19W. Perhaps the device I have is a bit low on the output and needs to be set to a higher wattage, given there is almost no taste on the low end of the recommended wattage. All thoughts appreciated.

Welcome on ECF @Luka76 !

The gave me the Innokin Go Z with 1.6Ω coil as a gif in one of my orders, i think it's a nice little tank somewhere around at 12W... !? Yeah it depends on how you prefer your vape... but if you run them on the upper - limits... probably you end up shorten their lives... !?

Watts with your coil around to 4Volts
You mean if the mod reads 4 volts while the vape is ON, right? Just tested, at max spec 14W Im at 2,8V, with 19W it reads 3,5V, I tried 25W and read 3,8V but the taste is overcooked :)

Im using shorfills with the Kroma Z, 6mg of what seems synthetic nic (has no smell or taste). As opposed to a different brand I have here and know is extracted from tobacco, that has some tobacco smell and is also a bit spicy (like pepper). Are there two variants of regular nic, extracted and synthetic? Might be also that tobacco extracted nic varies in quality.

Hi @Luka76 and welcome to ECF. :)

Perhaps consider vaping unflavored. If you like, add some mint to it. There are a good number of ECF members who prefer vaping unflavored juice.

As to your question regarding Z coils our Innokin rep @Innokin_timmy can certainly help you.

Alternatively, you might consider starting a thread in the Innokin forum.

Yeah the around 4Volts when you hitting the fire button, it's somewhere on the upper limit... (as i said, something like a general guide - rule) usually the recommend Watts are somewhat correct, you have to do your own test and find your type of vaping that you prefer the most !

About the "extracted from tobacco" i think it's only about the flavor of the e-liquids that they taste - feel likewise a real tobacco and you still have to add nicotine in the mix ! I said that probably the regular - normal nicotine is better than the the salt based nicotine !

About you own diy-e-liquid, there are some very nice simple pre-made mixs flavors, and then you can add them in your base and your nicotine, isn't that difficult, if you follow some general rules - steps you will be pretty good !

Thanks for the explanation TARTARA. IT would seem that Innokin values are on the discreet side well below 4v. Considering the base is on the upper limit of what is specified it makes sense to give the coil a bit more watts.

About DIY juices. I noticed that brands also sell pre mixed aromas or concentrated aroma. From the few I tested and liked I could get 150 ml of juice for a third of the price of a shortfill variant. That's great, and my next step. I just need to find a taste that I can vape for a long time. Some tend to cause more vapers tongue than others.

I am considering the idea of mixing my own juices. Right now I'm exploring what is out there. Thanks for the link, ill start a thread at the innokin forum.

I always advise that people mix their own juices.... I can make juices extremely cheap in comparison to commercial juices plus you can adjust them to your exact liking. It just takes a bit of experimenting and fiddling around, especially at first.....

It seems that the future of vaping is DIY with all the new laws. Also there seems to be some flavors that just don't hit the market and I miss them in vaping, like sour. Even lemon or lime is more sweet and hardly sour. I also like licorice and cant find anything but the aroma.

Thank you all for the quick replies and advice!
