Hello fellow vape peeps! My first post!

I am having issues with my Protank 2 I inherited. I am using a Vision Spinner and a beauty ring.
When I tighten the bottom base down it won't fire. I have to loosen the bottom base slightly to make it work and I am afraid it will become loosened and leak in transit... I see there is a white O-ring on the bottom base not sure it's the culprit and also have not seen any for sale anywhere. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will I need to replace the bottom base to solve this? (Which I HAVE seen for sale.)

Many Thanks!!!

dont know if this is the same issue but when i used protank 2's I noticed that the inconsistency of it workin or havein to fiddle with it came from the coil itself.. make sure that the coil is all the way tight . or sometimes u have to just lighlty snug it... so maybe when you are tightening the base it is slightly tweaking the coil and causing your problem... IDK why but that is what i found. maybe it has something to do witht he contact wall on the coil or something ... GL

Hey prophetr1!

Thanks for the reply! I have checked the tightness of the coil... Correct me if I am wrong, but you are saying maybe go the other way and loosen up the coil a bit?

Thanks!

Yes that is what i am saying i found that some had to be really tight and some had to b just barely tight.. .. again IDK why that is and it was very annoying seeing as you cant test it or know which one that particular coil is until u put it back together and try it.. hence the reason i moved on to Carto tanks..

I hear you..I am about a 4 month user and I have a Mini Protank2 as well as this Protank 2 and I am quickly finding fiddly-ness and inconsistency in taste, coils etc. I am ready to dive deeper too I think. Can you maybe enlighten me as to exactly what is the definition of and differences with a Carto tank? Are those the disposable ones? I 'm still a bit confused on the term.

I just tested this and you are correct! I have to just barely tighten it and test fire with tank off ..then I can tighten down the base...fiddly as hell! and another negative to this system..Booo! but I wonder if a new base would solve it?

If you look closely at where the fire pin is on the protank, notice it has a slot that will fit a small screwdriver. To raise it just a little, take the screwdriver and turn 1/4 of a turn to the right. then put it back on the battery to test. Repeat only a couple of times.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Sugar_and_Spice!!

I'll give this a shot when I have better access. But does this actually just adjust the coil? or is this the same as loosening it from the other end?

Thanks Again! :)

Sure,,,

See if i can explain this lol
A Cartomizer (Carto) is a tube about the size of a cigarette filter that has a coil inside of it with cotton around it. When I first started vaping that is what i used you can attache it straight to the battery and vape it just by soaking the cotton inside. Since then they have found a better way as it is easy to dry out the cotten in those and get a nasty taste from those and you had to constantly have juice with you to keep the cotton wet all day. The upside to cartos is they give more flavor... and are very consistant. So the newest thing with cartos is the carto tank .. basically you have a tank that looks alot like your protank and comes in different sizes from 2.5-6 ml . instead of the hollow tube in the middle of your protank that the top of the coil slides into you have a carto hooked straight to the battery and u slide a tank that seals with o-rings over the carto and fill it with juice. you have to use punched cartos which means there is a hole in the carto inside the tank. . and as you vape juice is pulled into the carto and it keeps it wet . ..

Also, I have heard people using double o-ring. ProTank should have come with extra o-ring. You can stick that on top of existing o-ring which raises the atty but still maintain the leak proof.

Yea, AeroTank base is really nice. I have been using them and not only does it solves the airflow blockage problem, it really brings out the best of bottom coil design.

It actually adjust the fire pin of the coil heads. This is true on all carto/clearos that are on the market. Just remember to raise, turn to the right and to lower(which is usually the case) left turns. Just do it slowly and test each 1/4 turn.
Let us know.

:)
edit to add: Make the adjustment to the fire pin on totally put together tank, don't try to adjust it this way while you have the tank apart.

Review: SmokTech Dual Coil Cartomizer Tank - YouTube

here is a vid that will give you and idea.. i quickly skimmed through the video just to see if it would help you understand and it should.. i did hear some stuff in there about over tighening the tank which he blew way out of proportion saying that if you did that you had to dump all the juice to loosen it back up .. but all u have to do is press agains your drip tip and turn and it will come off.. so IDK how expereicend the particular guy is but you will atleast understand what a carto tank is.

Cool! Do you know where I can get another O-ring? My tank was inherited and I didn't find any on the web..just the ones that go on the ends of the tank and the drip tip...

Protank atty head pin is press fitted. So, turing wouldn't raise or lower the pin.
My guess is that, when the atty is tighten too hard, the pin squashes the grummet which could be making a short.
So, either lower the pin from the mod (which can't be done in this case) or shorten the atty pin by either sanding it down or use double o-ring.

I'm relatively happy with the Protank 2 as compared to my Mini Protank 2...the fast and vapor is much better..just the fiddly problems and I seem to have flooding issues with both of them..on the Mini I can use an old coil O-ring upside down on top of the existing O-ring to solve the flooding but on the Protank 2 it just cuts airflow completely... Guess I need an AeroTank base!!

This works!!!! I raised the pins and I can tighten all aspects without issues! I did not know you could adjust the firing pins..this is awesome!!! I feel so much happier!! LOL
