Sadly no. Type III anodizing is almost impossible to dye and the setup is incredibly expensive as the acid bath needs to be maintained at 35F at all times. Since I can get a anodized layer similar to type III with my current setup but larger cells, I saw no need to go the extra cost.

See really the ONLY difference between Type II (what I do) and Type III is the Cell size. In type III the cells are smaller so they don't readily accept dyes, this means you can only dye it greyish/black. The thickness of the anodized layer can be controlled by the amount of time and the amount of current supplied to the part. I can make an anodized layer almost as hard as type III in a type II that will allow for dying.

Hope that helps.

Can you remove all components but the exterior tubing? Is it aluminum? If so, yes I can anodize it. I've never tried this particular item and all the searching I've done hasn't resulted in a clear enough picture of the guts of the unit for me to determine if the unit can be broken down far enough for me to anodize it.

Yeah I'm finding that a LOT of PV's are stainless. It's a lot easier to make something of a material that by it's very nature is less resistant to corrosion, dings, etc.

I would think though that given the easy access to metal working tools there would be a lot more aluminum PV's on the market.
I've got a lavatube that is aluminum, but when I tried removing the electronics, I couldn't get them back in. so while I may have a new fancy anodized lava tube barrel, it does me no good since I can't put it back together. :(

Soon I will have my own lathe and I will start turning out my own PV's and folks can buy those in any color choice they want.

Mkay, wingedwheel wasn't completely satisfied with the color of the fade so we went back to square one. Here it is:

I do want to say that the colors aren't really accurately represented that well with a flash at night. It's really best to take a picture in sunlight to get an idea of the true colors of these. While they are pretty, they look better in your hands than on a screen!

Oh sorry, didn't mean to imply that you were changing your mind arbitrarily. It wasn't your fault but mine for anodizing it the wrong direction initially. No problem anyway, we got ya squared away i hope.. (other than the minor ding which was also my fault, but that's something you and I are dealing with.)
