Hello everyone,

My name is Jio and I still consider myself relatively new to vaping. I smoked cigarettes for 12 years, Newport Menthol 100s, and as of May 17th when I purchased my Ego C Twist 650 Mah I never looked back! I am still overwhelmed as to finding the right setup for me, I find that I enjoy the cartomizer and tank method of vaping just fine, aside from a few bad cartos but all in all a good learning experience.

My current setup is: (x2, I bought another set for my 18 year old younger brother who was smoking and wanted an alternative)
650 mah Ego C Twist
Smoktech (I'm assuming from what I've gathered this is a 19mm tank for XL Boge Cartos)
2.8 Boge Cartos
I vape at 4.0-4.6V, depending on taste.
*Does vaping at a higher voltage burn through E-Juice faster?

I realize the Smoktech plastic tank is not a very good tank, (twice I've experienced the tank sliding off of the cartomizer when trying to remove it, resulting in juice spilling and being wasted, not a happy moment) but it is the one I received with the starter kit. I've been looking at IBTanked.com pyrex tanks, but I'm still wrapping my head around finding a good, cheaply priced juice vendor since buying juice for 2 people (my brother and I) is not very cost effective. I find that I'm spending more than I did on cigarettes, which is fine, at this point I am loving vaping and can never see myself going back to analogs ;)
*Just ordered 3 juices from MtBakerVapor. Extremely reasonable, hopefully the Hawksauce is good!

I'm also looking for a dependable, durable, affordable secondary PV to use, in case this Ego kicks the bucket. I was thinking a 1000 mah Ego C Twist for now until I can scrounge up the money to buy a MOD, and even then I wouldn't even know a great mod to make an investment on.

Also, I'm working my way down the PG/VG ratios towards more VG, upon learning that PG can develop allergic reactions, I have an allergy to nickel and any form of nickel will cause me to break out in painful skin rashes, which sucks. Is VG the way to go? Is the throat hit and flavor similar, or better?

As you can see I am definitely lost in this sea of information. I try to do as much research as I can though, and can honestly say I am a vaper for life. I consider myself a switcher, maybe in the future a collector? Only time will tell.. And my wallet also :)

Any help and suggestions would be fantastic. I hope I can benefit to this forum as well. Sorry for the novel I wrote.

Congratz on quitting the cigs! I can vouch for the quality of the IBTanked carto tanks. I currently have four of them and just ordered two more over the weekend. I have yet to have an issue with the tank slipping. Although, my PV doesn't spend much time in my pocket to be honest with you.

As far as a back up PV, if you're just looking for another eGo style battery, FastTech has some hard to beat prices. But, delivery is going to take a while longer than a state-side company:

If you're looking for something a bit more substantial, just let us know what your budget is. I'm sure you'll get 20 recommendations.

Welcome to the site. MVB is recommended by many and good pricing. If you can wait the up to 2 weeks fasttech is the way to go. I've used them a few times with great results. They also have low priced flavors. I haven't tried any of them though. I supply my son with juice and gear. It's worth it to keep him off the cigs.

The new iTaste 3.0 has been a surprisingly good addition recently. 800 mAh, vv and vw, display, ohm reader, etc. and only slightly longer than an ego 650 (maybe an inch or so longer) but a lot in a little package. $25 at Fasttech with passthrough usb charger. Picked up three of them. Lovin' it as the new backup and out and about batt.

People develop allergies to both PG and VG, btw.

I'm still experimenting with carto tanks now and don't yet have recommendations. Haven't pulled the trigger on a $50+ tank yet, but if I did, I would look at the Phiniac or a Trap Tank. I have an AGR and half a dozen less expensive tanks, so I'm not proficient.

    Welcome and Vape On!

Hey thank you! Great I will look into purchasing a IBTanked carto tank then. Mine doesn't spend a lot of time in my pocket either, the Smoktech tank on my device is just very slippery and doesnt cling to the carto at all. When I was extremely new to the device I had pulled the tank off of the carto just trying to remove the tank and carto together from the battery. Regardless, I'm seeing IBTanked is the way to go. :D My budget for tanks is the 20-30 dollar range, and batteries in the 20-40 range, as long as they're quality pieces.

Thank you, I'll look into FastTech.

Hello Bill! Thanks for that recommendation, I will definitely look into an iTaste 3.0 then! 800 mah isn't too big of a battery but at 25 dollars a pop I can get a couple no problem. Passthrough is very nice also.. I'm constantly having to charge my device when it runs out of power, and every 30 minutes unscrew it to vape until it dies again lol

That's unfortunate.. The current batches of juice I bought are 50/50, down from the 70/30's I've been consuming. Maybe I will find my sweet spot somewhere down the ladder.

Definitely not looking to spend $50+ on a tank anytime soon. But thanks for the recommendations. Are AGR's a good buy?

    Thank you sir! Vape on!:D

    Hi and welcome!

I love my IBTanks, I like carto tanks the best, but I have been using Kanger Protanks a lot lately. I don't think the flavor is quite as good, but they win for ease of use. They are glass, so no problem with any of the juices. I also hear they work well with higher vg (that I don't have personal experience with that, I'm a 70pg/30vg vaper). The clone Protanks (Kamry X9) are about $7.00 on FastTech and so far have been getting good reviews from members whose opinions I trust.

Batteries - back-up, back-up, back-up! You can't go wrong with Joyetech Twists (I have 2), but you might want to look at the Vision Spinner. It has the same 4.8v-3.2v as the Twist, but it is available is more mAh sizes and colors. The best thing about them is that the voltage numbers are on the body and easier to read. It's gotten to the point that I need my glasses and bright light to see the dial on the Twist LOL - luckily, I know where it is by feel & taste.

    Thank you Ocelot,

I do have a 650 Twist, and coincidentally bought both a 1000 mah Blue Ego Twist AND a 1300 mah Vision Spinner yesterday! Didn't check this until today though! I like the fact that the V's are very easy to see on the spinner, and I enjoy my twist very much. Thank you for your suggestions! And btw, nice username. Not sure if it's any reference to Metal Gear Solid, but regardless, cool!
