I'm pretty new to vaping (about 10 mo) and came here looking for advice. I just picked up a Cloupor T8 and a rba. Atty is a Russian 91% clone. Ive never wrapped my own coils or wicked before. I'm running a 24awg coil, 12 wraps at .75 ohms. I tried a 28 awg coil with only 5 wraps, about .82 ohms, but went larger for more coil to wick contact hoping for a better TH and cloud production. Not having to much luck tuning air flow. Any help or just a welcome would be great.

Yes, dry hits. Tried very little cotton with last build and was worse, 3 puffs and bam, have some cotton. My first build was done by some kid and I'm thinking he didn't understand the physics of it all, deck and channels were covered with tons of cotton. I want this to help me quit so bad, first pv was a pos and left me feeling it wasn't going to help. It broke and i like to tinker so i went for something good with options of expansion, hoping to put down the cigs for good.

Kayfuns & Russians run best at 1.2+ ohms and higher due to their restricted airflow. I like a "cotton nest" build in my Kayfun Lite+

Coiling Calculator

Here are a few links for you regarding building coils and getting the resistance just where you want it:
1. Steam Engine
2. Coil Toy Calculator

Make sure to check your build with an ohm reader or DMM before putting it on your mod and firing it.

Welcome aboard

I suspect that you are getting dry hits due to the the "add a small amount around sides of coil".

Air flow will also help with wicking. Too much air = too little juice (dry hit), Too little air = too much juice (flooding).

This was alot of help. I have the 24awg coil firing perfect after playing with the air screw more keeping what you said in mind.

Thanks
