I went back to rolling my own cigarettes because I couldn't afford the cost of e-juice and maintenaince of my Riva 510, so now I'm trying to switch back but things have changed quite a bit and I was hoping some of you could help fill me in on what I missed.

1: What's the best place to order cheap, bulk[over 100 ml] e-juice? I just ordered Newport flavor 300ml from .........., and the price seemed good[like $25] but anyone know if the site is realiable? Sell quality juice? The last time I was vaping I blew $50 on sweet flavored juices and they all contained nutrasweet, which I'm allergic to, and since I couldn't return it or order more the only thing I could afford was rolling tobacco. Which leads to...

2: Anyone know how to tell if these juices use any sort of sweetner[honestly I'm not sure which ones I'm allergic to and which I'm not, so I avoid them all]? Or how to tell if it's a flavor that would need sweetner? I mean, I know cherry flavored would need it, but like the menthol flavor I just ordered- is there a chance mint flavors would be sweetened?

3: Could someone please fill me in on the new threadings/sizes? Last time I vaped there were basically just 510's and 701's[and something else, much older]. Now there's 808's, 905's, E9's, 601's, RN4081, and a bunch that just give the brand name and no mention of the threading size. Any feel like giving me a brief overview of the differences in these, advantages, and which is the current standard. Though I was happy to see that 510 still seems to be a very popular thread, so I also ordered one of those new, sponge-free cartomizers.

4: Was that a bad idea? Are those things any good, and will it work with my old Riva 510? [said the threading was 510, so I assumed if it fits it works].

5:I REALLY freakin' love my riva, and noticed they came out with some new, awesome models[like the Tank]. Anyone have an opinion on what Riva is the best? And why?

Ok, so that's asking a lot from strangers after not even visiting this board in years, so I'll leave it at that, though there's much more I need to catch up on. Thank you to all who take the time to respond, and even if you don't, best wishes to all! Be safe, be happy, be YOU.

On ejuices - if you think you're getting an allegic reaction - try VG based ejuices. Most vendors don't sweeten their ejuice with sugar or nutrisweet but some may still - best is to ask them directly.

On hardware the eGo/Riva dominates the 510 threaded market and the KR808-D1 is still quite an active market. You can get adapters for each to use the other's attys and cartos. If you like the Riva, then I suggest looking into the 'latest' in that line - the eGo-c tank system - where there is no filler. There are other 'tanks' as well - best to search the forum for that as there are many different types. The fillerless cartos - CE2's and others are fitted for both the 510/eGo and the KR808D-1. I've used them but prefer the eGo-c system. With the eGo-c you only have the coil unit to replace not the whole atty body and that has reduced costs. It's a 'modular' system where you can replace the coil unit (head) for $5 or under.

Another major change - although it happened more than a year ago - is the wide variety of attys and cartos with different ohms ratings - this makes the need for higher voltage mods less - although there are still advantages of higher voltage or variable voltage mods. So it's much easier to match the wattage that you need to get the best flavor from your ejuice by either changing the atty to a range of ohms OR to vary the voltage on the batt to get the best taste for you.

There should get you started and the general and 'specific model' forums are a great source of info as you know.

Ok, This question has been here for a couple days so I am gonna do a partial answer on the parts that I feel confident answering.
1.My only suggestion for very large ejuice purchases at that price is to go to alibaba and try to contact one of the Dekang suppliers but if you have allergies to some of the sweeteners used in e-liquid, it might be beneficial to order liquid from some of the suppliers here on the forum. My reasoning for this is that in many cases you can actually contact the person actually making the liquid and ask them if whatever sweetener is used. So hopefully that would keep you from wasting any money on liquid.
2. If you are talking about Chinese liquid such as Dekang, I think the best that you could do would be make an educated guess. It would be really hard to tell if a menthol tobacco juice would or would not have any type of sweetener in it. Like I said previously, the only way I know to be certain of something like that is to contact a liquid supplier. Even a lot of tobacco liquids have some type of sweetener in them.
3. I am sure there are several threads out there but in my little world there are only a few that are important, obviously this is my opinion and others may use something I did not list. Actually, I do not know if some of the threading sizes you listed are even in existence today but I could be wrong. Here we go...
510- Most advanced personal vaporizers utilize this thread connection, to me it has become the standard thread.
The riva/ego will accept pretty much any 510 atty or carto but some other 510 devices can not accept riva/ego attys/cartos because of the recessed connection, some will if there connector is protruding from the device. Of course there are 510 to ego adapters for that. What most people say about 510 is the throat hit is better or harder than most but flavor can suffer, but that is speaking more to the atomizer aspect and not cartomizers. Cartomizers can be similar to each other even if the threading is different. Although the draww might be a lil different.
306- This is a different type of atty than the 510 but it has the exact same threading so it can be used in most if not all 510 devices. This atty usually gets pretty hot because it has an open bridge that is exposed. Not my favorite but many people swear by them.
901- One of my favorites, what most people say is that the 901 has much better flavor than a standard 510 but might not kick you in the throat quite as hard. They are also a little leaky but people make little drip shields for them that seal up with o-rings to keep that from happening.
801- This is a much larger atty and also provides a lot of flavor but I do not know too much about them because I do not use them very often.
808d- I believe that this threading is only used in cartomizers and it is the same as a 901 but I seem to remember there is a need for some type of airflow hole to use an 808d on a 901 connector.
There are also some hybrid atties on the market, where they take the coil from a 306 and put it in a 510 sleeve(hh.357 atty) and I think vapage makes one as well.
4. When you say sponge free I assume you are talking about a clearomizer type carto. What type of hardware you will end up liking is so relative. There are lots of people that like clearo's, sometimes people tinker with them to make the wick better and what not. I cant say that I really care for them but I am kind of a dripping atty guy. Obviously the only way to tell if it was a bad idea is to give em a try and see if they work well for you. What I noticed about the clearos I have used is that I needed to take it a bit slow or they would not keep up with the juice supply. And yes if you have a riva 510 then pretty much all or most 510 attys or cartos should fit.
5. Again this a really broad question, there are a TON of options. They have some variable voltage ego/riva ecigs that are pretty neat. I think one is called the ego twist. I do not use ego style pv's so I will let someone else go into more options.

This reply is just my view on things so take that as you may. Good luck with your search, and welcome back.
