I think almost any mod with a chip will identify the coil in your tank. I have a couple of mods that don't but it truly depends on what your coil is rated at. Look at your coil and it should provide you a range of wattage that works best for said coil.
Hope that helps and welcome to the forum !

Top tanks have the standard 510 threading for connection to the power device.

Any meaning almost all power devices use a standard 510 connection.

As far as too big or heavy, thats all personal preference, you'll have to read the specifications of whatever power devices interest you.

Welcome to ECF. As long as it's standard threading, you can put your tank on any mod, provided it has the power to support your coils and coil resistance.

Sorry, I don't know too much about which coils are compatible with this device, but I'm sure someone will be along to help.

And yes, you'll have to do a little research and see what mods appeal to you most. Size, number of batteries, internal vs. external batteries, and etc. Best of luck,

Anna

Most tanks today have either a 22mm or 25mm diameter. Depending upon the mounting base (the end that has the 510 connector), some of the larger tanks may not fit because some part of the mod gets in the way. For example, if I'm not mistaken, one of the Pico mods can only fit the 22mm tanks, and not the 25mm.

Most tanks are either sub-ohm (coils less than 1.0 ohm) or use standard coils (> 1.0 ohm). The majority of today's variable wattage mods can fire either one.

If you are using the .5Ω a smaller 75-85w single 18650 device is enough power for you. Pico 25 (the 25 refers to size, not watts) or Sinuous P80 might suit you. For longer battery life you could look at the Aspire Speeder or Eleaf Invoke, both dual 18650 lighter weight devices.

Your kangertech toptank mini is 22mm, which will fit most, if not all devices. Your presa is a built in battery mod and you need to decide whether you want to continue with built in type or "stepping up" to an external battery mod. With an external you'll need a charger and spare battery. The advantage is you don't toss the mod when the battery dies.

Pico is a great suggestion and a nice small size. It takes 18650s but also has usb charging. I prefer to charge on a battery charger and have spare batteries but I know several people who just charge by usb.
So I can just plug it in ok then I might just get one then thank you so much

Yes, you can charge external batteries via the internal USB charger, but its generally not recommended.

The USB port is there primarily to allow firmware updates for the microchip should you desire to keep your mod up to date. Unless the microchip is a DNA chip, charging via the USB charger should be limited to rare and urgent situations when a Li-ion box charger is not available.

With most inexpensive mods, one of the design weak points is the USB connector and onboard charger. General wear and tear with daily use can result in a defective USB port. I will also go out on a limb and say that most lithium battery failures (flames or explosions) occur while they are being charged. A box Li-ion battery charger will have more protection circuitry than that tiny onboard charger inside the mod, and will also charge batteries faster than the onboard charger.

A decent, quality external Li-ion charger can be purchased for under $20 (Efest LUC V2). That would be a very worthwhile investment.

Ok thanks for that as I would have charged it with the usb I’ve got a normal battery charger for household battery’s do you think this is ok or should I buy a new one
If the supported types of batteries aren’t listed on your charger Google your battery charger and look for a list of supported types of batteries.

Depends upon if your household charger can safely charge Li-ion rechargable batteries. Most household batteries (Duracell, Ray-O-Vac, Energizer) are alkaline, not lithium Li-ion. Don't use a Trustfire charger.

Yes, it really depends on what charger you have, it should list "supported battery types" on the back, although if it's a household charger it may not be what you need. If it's not listed, then google it as Rainsong suggested. If it's not the correct type of charger, one can be obtained inexpensively online for a reasonable price. There are several trustworthy charger makers including Xtarr and Nitcore, to name a couple. I have a Nitecore Intellecharger two bay and it cost under $20 IIRC. The sleds were a bit rough to handle at first, but as I used it, they got a lot smoother, could also lubricate the sleds (I didn't know enough at the time to do it). Given my particular battery needs a two bay is really all that was required, but you may decide you want a larger charger.

Best of luck, and yes, external charging is very much the way to go. Mods designed for USB charging tend to use a safer chemistry for USB charge than internal battery mods, and the USB port is indeed useful for updates, but could wear out over time. I use a magnetic charger for all my (designed for USB charging) mods, because I find it to be much easier on the USB port, and if stepped on, knocked over etc., it will cause the magnetic cord to detach leading to much less USB strain on the port. Since I have a couple expensive devices that I HAVE to charge via USB (radiuses) I want to keep the USB port in good shape.... I got mine for about $3 from fasttech, but I really, really love it!

Best of luck and happy charging!

Anna
